Very full, thick sound... works well from jazz to rock to pop or punk.

Very excellent 335 copy in my opinion. I have had 2 artcores, and an Epiphone dot... they didn't come close to this 335 copy... not even in the same ballpark. I sold all my others.
This one was very well made. Perhaps i got lucky with it because it was crafted in Korea.

I have had mine for about 11 years now, bought it new when they first came out. I am not sure about the latest Johnson stuff... it all seems so cheap. However, this guitar retailed for $650 in 1997 with case, it was pretty high priced for a brand i had never heard of then, and honestly the cheap $100 nock offs I see available now really bum me out about the name brand. I would take nothing less then $350 for this guitar now... it's worth every penny. People who play it and check it out are amazed.

For what it is... a 335 copy from 1997, it has held together very well and plays like a dream. I set it up once in 1997 and have never had to deal with tuning issues since. It will play a full 45minute set and stay in tune perfectly the whole way, even banging on it and jumping around. Like i mentioned before, i would not sell this for a penny under $350. They are no longer made, and they are the best thing from what i can tell Johnson guitars ever released into the market.

2002? production copy of ES-335 style guitar. Typical ES-335 design/features right down to the solid center block in the body, a set neck, tune-a-matic with stop-bar, etc, etc. 15k ohm Humbucker pickups. Bigger/thicker than normal neck with large, attractive trapezoidal style inlays . Heavier than any 335 style guitar I've ever hoisted, with the accompanying 'thicker' sound. Don't buy this guitar if you are looking for a lightweight, it is as heavy as your typical solid body, and of course physically larger. Absolutely gorgeous flamed maple top and back, natural finish. I have been wanting an inexpensive 335 style in a natural finish and this one is a beauty. It is a clone of a 2 year Springfield ES-335 copy that I have; both are near identical to the Ibanez 'Artstar' guitars which sell for double what these do.

Very thick, solid sounding ES-335 clone. That extra heavy body and beefy neck gives this guitar some balls and great sustain. Good blues/rock machine, but could probably be used for most musical styles. Noiseless electronics, smooth volume and tone controls. I haven't tried it a high volumes yet to see if the pickups are microphonic or if the semi-hollow body design accentuates feedback. I love the sounds/tones I got at low and medium volumes though.

I got it used and it was 'set-up' by some-one, but I tweaked it a little. Nice smooth player, great action. I can't find any construction/assembly flaws, but I haven't gone over it in any great detail either. I was too preoccupied with how great it sounded to worry about how it looked. It does look great though, fairly nicely matched flames. Nicely done gold hardware everywhere. Tuners that hold very well. Nice MOP/abalone inlays on the neck. The neck is very smooth and comfortable.

Seems to be a very solid, well-made guitar. Johnson's first offering in this style and medium price range. I have a couple of cheapo Johnson tele copies, and they are pretty well made for $100 guitars. This ES-335 copy is very nicely done.

Bought it used, don't know. The tele copies have some kind of warranty, I'm sure this one does too.

I've been playing for 37 years. I have had alot of different gear over the years, mostly import copies now. I have a Peavey Delta Blues (tube) amp and a Peavey Bandit (SS) amp to do all my 'testing', plus a huge pile of speaker cabinets in various configurations. Unlike alot of guitars, the Johnson made the sometimes 'lifeless' sounding Delta Blues amp come alive. The Bandit amp made this guitar crack like a whip. If you've read my other reviews you already know why I have so many import clones....I believe that 'most' of the imports have much more added value than 'most' of the domestically produced guitars. I can't understand why the domestic manufacturers offer such 'average' products at 'upscale' prices??? This one is no exception, it is a fine sounding, great-looking ES-335 style guitar and is definitely a keeper. All the 'upscale' features at a bargain price. I can't find anything wrong with this guitar, other than the heavy weight and the neck that might be too thick for some people. If you are looking for a decent, inexpensive ES-335 clone, consider this one as a posibility.
