It's a basic cutaway acoustic-electric, with a volume and tone knob. It has binding around the body and neck, and a slightly angled headstock with a plastic nut, with a 20-fret neck and dot position markers.

Sound : 9
It sounds good enough for me, very even without too much bass. I play country, blues, and classic rock, and it suits me fine. Haven't used the pickup much, but when i plugged it in it sounded fine, if you roll down the tone knob.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
After changing the strings, the action was fine, starting low and heading up, the upper frets are hard to play on but it is an acoustic. The finish looks great to me, I'm sure if I looked hard enough there's something I could pick on, but why bother? The frets are low, but it doesn't cause any problems, and are filed just fine.

Reliability/Durability : 8
It seems good, the tuners are pretty cheap, but shouldn't cause problems. The strap button is fine, finish is natural so no worries there. Like I said, the nut is plastic, but it still sounds fine and is adjusted fine. For the price, it will last as long as I need.

Customer Support : 9
I bought it from Mandalay Music, they were nice and helpful, and it got here impressively fast. I'd buy from those guys again if I was in the market for another cheap guitar.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been an electric player for 2 and a half years, this is my first acoustic. I was used to a Fender American Strat, and had only fooled around on friends acoustics, so I didn't know what to expect really. I bought it mainly to bang around on, but play it regularly and have no problems with it at all. You're not buying a Taylor, but it's good enough for guys like me. If it were stolen, I'd probably buy another one.

A new review for the jg-650 t Go to the Johnson site for details

Sound : 9
A Thin-line acoustic. Its very good sounding considering the size. these types WILL get popular I guess alot of manufacturers are thinking of chambering and sound capabilities to see how much can be put into an easy playing, light, thin, but full-size acoustic

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I had wished to resubmit a survey here. Lets just say you shouldnt be swayed by opinions that may be posted here fast, or in a mood.
Many have said the actions are set high, its true, as Ive checked out guitars this past week, I notice the diff.. Is that the deal, set the action yourself, ignore the finish thats why its cheaper?Well Im a mechanic not a luthier but I have dug out the brigge and got the strings nice and close Is good now And Im seeing a very nice just soon to be copied guitar! I did try to retract my other input Im sure these points will offset it..

Reliability/Durability : 10
Vey solid I tried to bend it at my chest It's solid..Ahh a tip if you have to take the pickup out just take the volume\tone controls. out too I tried for an hour to plug the Jack in. Finish is VERY durable-looking, maybe bindings are unneccessary for an ultra -high end Fiddle?

Customer Support : No Opinion
Theyll never see it now, as I said the thing barely bends I can work with that myself..

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I sent webmaster a request to not count my first review but It went . Maybe this one wont.. Just my luck.. Maybe they just scan for dirty words, I did like the personalities of the other reviewers.. maybe we'll get together and have us a "Johnson-Guitar-Fest..

A new 2002 JG 650 (natural)Its a thin-line acoustic with a pickup
They tell all the features. You can Bet its got die cast tuners, etc..

Sound : 7
doesnt matter what style, If it plays good It would have a nice sound, if the frets werent buzzing. But, so may a cigar box if it were made right
I think it was worth the money, but ( heres the part)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Plays ok,strings they give you are going to be too heavy, so immediately you have to learn about actions,, Now mine.. Im mad that the neck goes down at thee left, and seems to be glued onto the body,, Its not much, but Ive imagined it this way And with frets buzzing Ill have to leave the action up abit.. You can see when look at the truss rod ITs barely within some standard I guess..

Reliability/Durability : 10
Seems solid/ Good glue was used/ If I were a guitar expert for a small project I could make It as nice as any to play.Im not big on acoustics but Id think ahead and not need a pickup on it (play in a mike) I guess. Then your all set A pickups good to have I guess.!

Customer Support : 8
2years warranty, Maybe I should see if I got an unusual problem, otherwise it not worth it. It was what 100 dollars anyway,,

Overall Rating : 8
Ive played about 2 years I have one vintage electric, I keep my eyes open, Saving it ,, I want to see and play any guitar from now on, that I may buy (was I like that before?) Its light and Im perhaps spoiled from another action, It probably close within a standard,, Id bite if I was shopping for guitar looking at it..You would buy this one..

This is a thinline acoustic guitar with ash top. Has 20 frets and came in blueburst finish. Passive pickup with only two knobs, one for tone and one volume. Does not have a strap hanger for front, may buy one and install on front of guitar. The tuners are not bad for a guitar of this price. In fact they are pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised. I was thinking what kind of guitar can you buy for $100.00 or less? I found out you can buy a very good one to bang around with. I have played at least 40 different guitars and this litle guitar plays very well, with a good sound. In fact as good as some of the Guild, Martin, and Gibson.

Sound : 10
I stated above this little guitar sounds very good. It sounds like an auditorium guitar in a slim body. I use a Fender Twin Reverb, and a Fender Chorus, and am well pleased with the sound. The only problems I encountered was the lack of quality control such as spots around the lamination, not really noticeable, unless you look close. The action was set very high with heavey strings. The first thing that I did was file down the bridge from the bottom to get the strings closer to the neck. I also tightened up the neck a little. Not enough to cause problems later but to pull the strings a little closer. I do think that I will end up putting a new nut on, which is not an expensive item. This guitar does have a rich full sound, which I did not believe the first time that I played it. I really expected a dull thunding sound or a tinny high sound like I have heard on some of the spruce top guitars. Pleasantly surprised

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Guitar could have been set up much better but we are talking about a guitar that I payed not even a hundred bucks for on ebay. I must say that this guitar did not look like it had been hanging on the wall of the music store and was sold only because of its' devaluation. I have played Gibsons, Guilds, Fenders, etc. that had rust on the strings and even on the hardware of the guitar in music stores and the owner was still asking the outrageous price for it that was on the tag, or just a little less.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I don't know how this guitar will stand up as I have not had it long, but seems that it will take much abuse. So What, for only a hundred dollars go buy another one.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No reason to deal with. Guitar has a two year factory warranty.

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing guitar for about forty years. I own a Gretsch 6120 blueburst, a tele in baltic blue, and copleminted the other two with this little Johnson. Cheapest guitar that I have ever bought and must have owned 30. I have a habit of giving them to some kid who wants to play a guitar and doesn't have a decent one to play. Can't stand to see someone try to learn how to play with an inferior instrument. I do have the connections so that I may purchase guitars at much less than most music dealers get for them. The average Tele that comes from Mexico costs the music store around or less than #175 and they will sell it to you for $350 with the sunburst finish. I will rate this little guitar as high as I rated my Gretsch as I have yet to see a fabulous guitar unless you plan on paying $30,000.00 for it.
