This guitar has a very full sound. It doesn't have the sound of a Martin, but it would be hard to beat with any other brand. The guitar has a full bass sound and great treble. It sounds bright without being too brassy. The best feature on this guitar is the sustain. This guitar will ring. I have yet to see a guitar other than a D-28 that has the sustain of this guitar. Has a very good overall sound. It doesn't have the sweetness of a Martin, but for $1,000 less, I wouldn't expect it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The guitar played great right out of the box. It came with Martin strings, so I just tuned it up and started playing. The set-up seemed a little high at first, but after playing it for a few days and breaking it in, it seems perfect now. The only problem I've had so far with the action is the High E string at the thirteenth fret. There is a spot on the fret that will not produce any sound. This problem was easily fixed by filing the fret down a bit.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This is a very dependable guitar. It has a few scratches and minute dings on one side, but those are due to playing with keys in my pocket. The top and back both seem very tough. The finish is great. There is a spot the size of a BB where the finish has worn off a bit due to hitting it with the pick. I have played this guitar live, and have had no problems so far. Everything seems to be built to last.

This is a great guitar. If you are looking for a great guitar perhaps second only to a Martin, buy this guitar. This doesn't look, play, or sound like the $89 Johnson models. It is far superior. It's the comparison of a D-28 to a Sigma. This was my first guitar, so I would probably replace it if it were stolen. A solid investment.

This is a straight, acoustic dreadnought, a Johnson JG670N with spruce top and mahogany back and sides. I wanted an acoustic guitar to use in Church since our regular guitar player may be moving to a different church. I did not have a lot of money to spend and the description of the guitar sounded pretty good. But with a price of $119 I was not sure what to expect. I had played a similar Johnson 670 in a music store locally and they were asking $275. It had year old strings on it and was pretty beat up being on display and all and it really did not sound good at all, muffled and dead sounding but I think most of its problem was the old strings. Anyway, the guitar arrived well packaged with the strings detuned. Used the electronic tuner to pull everything into pitch. It seems to hold pitch well, I have only touched it up a little since that first tuning and it stays in tune sitting in my music room and being played A LOT!!!! It came with Martin strings of some type, not sure which ones, and the sound is pretty damn good for something that only cost $120 or so. No, it does not sound like the other guitarist's Montana Gibson, but I did not pay $2,000 for it either and I would not expect it to sound like as good as his. But it does have a fairly open sound, good highs, and pretty good lows. Maybe just a little muffled in the middle registeer but I am going to try different strings and see if that changes the overall sound. As I am adjusting to the guitar it is sounding better. I also have a Epiphone Les Paul Standard, one of the best I have played and according to the luthier who et it up, one of the best he has see. I play mostly finger picking style with some pick work, I guess Christian folk style would describe it pretty accurately, though I also play blues and classic rock, but mostly I use the Les Paul for that. I also have a Yamaha Custom Shop Classical guitar that I also play a lot at home. I normally play electric bass in the worship team, we have two guitars, bass, mandolin, drums, and piano with two or three vocalists. The guitar player goes into the board through a direct box but if I play I will mike the guitar since i have no pickup. This guitar I think will work well with the group, it puts out a lot of sound and with everything miked or going through an amp, it needs to.

Well, I don't want to sound too superlative, but seriously, the fit and finish on this guitar is excellent. It has a high gloss finish over the body and back of the neck that is pretty much perfect. I was very very surprised at how good it looks considering what I paid for it. The markers on the neck look good, no filler around them, and the abalone inlay around the sound hole looks very good and fits perfectly. It has the usual braces inside the bady and seems very sturdy. They say it has a dovetailed neck joint that is supposed to hold its position better than a bolt on. I guess time will tell about that. The machine heads are cast and sealed and very smooth to operate. They seem to hold a setting well, the guitar staying in tune from day to day with no problem. Just a little adjusting as the temperature changes in the house. The top is fine grained spruce and looks pretty traditional. The back and sides are mahagony and are probably dyed to a darker than natural color though I am not sure of that. From the factory the action is good. I have a very slight string buzz on the low E but I think it is buzzing in the nut, not on a fret. Now that I am getting used to the guitar, I will track that down and fix it. The guitar was made in China which would normally be very disturbing to me because I know of some of their labor practices and the conditions workers must endure. But for $120 I cannot complain at all about the construction or appearance of the instrument. It just plain looks good.

I have only had the guitar for two weeks, but I have been plahing guitar, bass, keyboards, and trumpet for 40 years and I speak from a lot of experices that I think this guitar is going to last. It is heavy, and seems like it is well put together out of quality woods. I know the machine heads have to be inespensive, but they look good and they are smooth and they hold tuning well so I cannot complain about that at all. A year from now I might have a different story but for now, I would be willing to play this anywhere.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have no idea, have not contacted them or even know if they have a number to call. The guitar comes with a two year limited warranty so somewhere there must be an 800 number. Probably if anything went wrong I would call Mandalay Music, they were very helpful anwering questions and offering suggestions before the purchase. Seem like a great bunch of guys.

Like I said earlier, I have played music professionally for over 40 years, everything from being an orchestral trumpet player, to rock, blues, jazz, and country, on guitar and trumpet. I have done it all. Honestly, for $120 I don't think you could find anything better, new or used.
