I bought my Jolana Galaxis yesterday, together with a fender musicmaster 1978. It's probably built in 1982 and is painted in a black blue mettalic finish, two Saphir pick ups, and this one has a tremlo. Serial is 20***.
The neck is thick but also small, so it plays comfortable.
There weren't any accesoires, only a new gigbag.

Sound : 7
I play a lot of blues and jazz. It's sutes blues very well! the sound is very alive. It's the sound of an Rickenbacker, especially the neck pick-up, it has an John Fogerty feel.
I've played this guitar on a small Marshall Valvestate 8080 100 watt. When i play it clean, the sound isn't really touching. It's a bit flat especialy the bass strings. When i play over the tube's it sounds great and it feels like if youre playing stereo!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
What's most amazing me is it's low action! the neck has beel refretted, the neck looks good, only the body has some scretches, and the paint has broken at the places the woo came together.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I'm sure i only will play this guitar in studio's. Perhaps live at some blues songs, i'm sure i'm not gonna use it for jazz.

I bought this guitar in a nice shop in Holland - Vlissingen. It's a rather small shop, but there were a lot of '60, '70 and eighties guitars. Mostly copy's like Hofner, Hopf and some Italian brands. The owner of the shop is an guitar builder, i saw 1 guitar, a telecaster with humbuckers and an bigsby. I really like the head stock. Perhaps i will play on a strat of him one day.

Overall Rating : 8
I'm playing for about 15 years, and now i'm 21. I mostly play fender's. I've got some strat's (vintage and new ones) only 1 telecaster, and since yesterday an musicmaster 1978.

There are two things i really love about this guitar and that's it tremlo and bridge. These are really of good quality and real thick. (this guitar is an low weight)
The other thing is it's sounds played over tubes with perhaps a tubescreamer and an echo park. The sound really is rough.

my first e-guitar! it's the red galaxis with the black pickguard: looks very nice in comparison to those standard guitars... (to me). strat-styled with humbuckers, each adjustable in tone and volume. fitted with those passive saphir humbuckers. strap-holder is fitted with a screw-driver for being quick in adjusting the humbuckers (or anything else?), so this guitar seems to be build for the experimental musician. i bought it from the girl-friend of the still staying in bed man from formerly gdr (ddr). came with a green bag with handles, patent-fasteners (no zipper) and small side-pocket. yes - this neck is lovely.

Sound : 7
even being played without amplification, you'll get an impression, what the galaxis will sound like. i suppose it depends on the bridge construction: moveable on the plastic pickguard. so maybe a little banjoish, but very smooth, too. i like to experiment and improvize in a low-speed way, sometimes using vibrato. the bridge pickup could have more output. the neck pickup just sounds great to me, very smooth and warm. i use an amp, found on a streets rubbish-heap. it's a starfire (20 watt) from china: i think both have found each other!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
mine is isn't that bad (i guess..); it will stay tuned, and all tuners are very easy to turn. the vibrato is a horrible construction - it works (just way down), but once you take it apart, you'll wonder THAT it works. the bridge can be adjusted easily by two huge screws; that huge, so damping might be not that comfortable. if vibrato is being in action, the bridge can be seen moving like a ship in rough seas. this is because of its felt- or rubber-feets. yes - it might move if being hit. bad chrome - maybe due to its storage. the frets could be newer! what to expect from an old used one? after taking it apart and investing some time everything is working out fine again (some oil here and there). for still being playable (the neck is to be found in a perfect condition, the fingerboard wasn't treated that hard) i would rate this with a six.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
some oil was neccessary to get the sound clear again. for i don't want to throw it down - no rating.

Customer Support : No Opinion
jolana? still alive?

Overall Rating : 8
well - again: my first one and i just like it. to me it is very comfortable and easy to play with. i wish the bridges pu would have more punch, the vibrato could be a 2-way-one (maybe i'll try to fix that: a shorter and a further second spring is required) but bending also is ok. every cripple loves his cudgel..

This guitar was my first guitar, and i have it for a long time. It's made in 1977 (i think). It has a jazzmaster/strat body shape. This guitar has a jazzmaster style vibrato, but It works really bad, guitar won't stay in tune when used. Two "humbuckers" with very low output - they are called "saphir" (very funny name for that sound). Body is from unidentified light wood, and neck is from maple with mahagony fingerboard. This guitar had black finish (I saw one with red finish but red finish is very rare for this guitar) but it was overpainted many times, now it has some custom paintings. There are very BAD tuners, they won't stay in tune if you play hard - A and D tuners are very hard to turn. Neck is VERY thin and quite comfortable - just one good thing on this thing. The pickup switcher has four options - bridge, neck, both and dead - dead means that pickups are off. fingerboard is VERY played so when i bend G string i can hear some cratches...

Sound : 2
cheesy sound. Very LOW output from pickups and no sustain
makes this guitar sound like a cheap banjo.
I play rock, little grunge, little punk, and mostly something like RATM. This guitar is quite good for punk, when you use both pickups and very heavy disortion, it sounds quite good. This isn't a guitar for soloist but it could be good for rythm players.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Well, this guitar has "movable" bridge - if you hit it hard, the bridge fells out. This is not joke, sadly, it's true. The action is very low, but strings hts frets. Frets are very bad, and hardware (especially knobs) is rusty on some places.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is invurnurable. My galaxis felt down many times and it's still alive...original finish is easy to wear off, once i have scratched out finish to the wood with a pick. Strap buttons are VERY solid. I use this guitar for a backup and sometimes for one song where i play only rythm.

Customer Support : 1
I haven't purchased this guitar, but my father told me, that they weren't so helpful when he buyed it, but II don't care about it. It has never been in service, I can repair everything at home.

Overall Rating : 2
I have this guitar for a backup - I have Fender Standardt fat strat MIM and cort strat 2t that is much better than this. I hate pickups and tuners on his guitars, and i very like neck on this thing. I wish it had better pickups and fingerboard cause these ones are terrible.
