My Ramirez 2e was built in 2007 in Madrid, Spain, where I live. It has 17 frets, solid red cedar top, laminated indian rosewood sides and back, ebony fingerboard, 650 mm string length. Tuners are quite good. Beautiful wood and excelent craftmanship.

I used to play folk style with a D18 Martin. Very nice, but hard to play. I changed to classical guitar but I still play folk with it. I am very happy with the sound; it is very bright yet warm and it tunes perfectly all along the fretboard. It has a lot of projection too. Excellent sound overall.

The action was set a little high at factory to my taste, although probably perfect for classical players. I did not have any problem getting it a little lower, and now is perfect for me. Fretting is very good. Finish is unbelievable nice. I liked very much the scent of wood and good varnish of the guitar. The color and appearance of the red cedar top is beautiful.

I only have owned this guitar for 6 months, but it seems very solid and well built. Of course, I am very careful and always keep it in its case. I hope it will last for many years.

I bought it directly in the workshop (General Margallo St., Madrid). They have been very nice and helpful, considering that they are not professional sellers, but guitar makers! They gave me excellent advice in buying the model most appropiate to my style and budget. Warranty is for life against any building problem.

I have been playing since 1963 or so. I had another (cheap) Ramirez when I was a teenager, but was crashed accidentally. I remember it had a beautiful sound. Afterwards I changed to acoustic steel strings guitar(Martin). If my Ramirez were lost, I will probably buy another one of similar price of a little more expensive. Overall I love this guitar: it is very playable, you can play it for hours. It responds wery well to how do you want to play: slow, strong...

My 1999 2E, for which I paid $1900 US new, had cedar top, rosewood sides and back, ebony fretboard. The tuners were ok, I had no trouble with them. I've heard others say they replaced theirs with something better, but I kept mine and liked them, no slippage and very tight action, smooth.

I play only classical guitar on my nylon-string instruments, the usual repertoire for a mid?level player, Carcassi, Bach, Sor, Dowland, etc. I prefer the "warm" Spanish sound and this guitar is great for that. Good range of tone from fretboard to bridge. Very good volume. I now own a Ramirez 1a, the concert model, and the 2E was almost as good?sounding as the 1a and about a third the price.

The action on the 2E was slightly high for my taste, though not so high as to bother me to have it lowered. There is adequate room to lower it, however, and I expect Ramirez ships them with high action so the purchaser can have them later set up to their liking. It was very easy to play, in spite of the slightly high action, no buzzing and easy to barre all along the neck. The woods chosen were excellent, much nicer than I really expected in a relatively inexpensive if higher level student model.

I would have no hesitation taking the 2E out in the world. Good volume, good intonation, solidly put together. However, I did not ever use it "live" so cannot give any more opinion than that. I sold this guitar to purchase the 1a and only had it for three years; during that time, there was no trouble with it and it was as solid as ever when I let it go. Very nicely built guitar.

I have played maybe 35 years. As I said above, I now own the upper level Ramirez, though I really liked the 2E almost as much and if I went back to it, it would not be a big disappointment. What I liked most about the 2E was its sound and the high quality of tone, even and dependable, wherever I played along the strings. Rich and solid performance. I would definitely get another one, but with limited funds I cannot afford to keep more than one guitar like this.

Studio classic guitar made in Spain in 2000, 17 frets, solid red cedar for top, indian rosewood for sides and back, ebony fingerboard, 650 mm string lenght.

Is a Ramirez and it should say everyting!
It has a great warm sound full of harmonics.
The light finish make the seasoned woods gain better sound through the years.
But still remains a "studio" guitar and this is its limit.

The action was too high as set by factory; I substituted as soon as possible the capo and bridge in plastic material with one in bone and set the action lower.
The guitar is half handmade so the finishes are perfect.

Even though it's not a "concerto" guitar I' ve played it for years live with good results.
The hardware is not so good, substituted really soon.
Due to the light finish is really fragile!

Never dealt with factory.

I' ve been playing since 11 years I own a lot of stuff.
If I loose it I'll buy another one (hoping to find one equal or better sounding).
I really love the fretwork, sustain and attack of notes.
It has a great "scent" every time I take it off the case!

I purchased my 2E through Ebay from an Californian who was heading home (from Australia) and had to sell. At this time there are no Australian importers of this fine guitar. My guitar was built in 1997 and the label says it is from Madrid.

I have only been learning classical guitar for 11 months but I can tell the difference between my old Yamaha C40 and my Jose Ramirez 2E. It has twice the sustain and the treble tones really set it apart. The Yamaha is great to begin with ... no compaints there.

I brought it home and there was a vibration with the G string. I wondered if there was something lose inside but I think now that it was the bridge nut vibrating. I replaced the strings and the vibration disappeared. The workmanship in this guitar is impressive.

I bought this guitar through Ebay and though it is 6 years old the finish is almost showroom quality. There is a small dent or impression of about a millimetre in the soundboard from some accident of the previous owner. No scratches at all.

I am feeling very blessed with my purchase of this fine instrument. (Psalm 37:4) I don't feel the Yamaha C40 was holding me back as I rate myself as still a beginner but the oportunity to purchase a genuine Jose Ramirez 2E arose on Ebay and I was fortunate to be the only bidder. It is simply beautiful.

Ramirez 2E, 1998, Madrid, Spain.
19 frets, 12th fret is the body fret.
Solid cedar top, laminated rosewood sides and back, cedar neck and ebony fretboard.
Finish is glossy, probably nitrocellulose (I don't know for certain).
The bridge saddle was some kind of bone substitute, which I replaced with a bone saddle that I shaped myself (also lowering the action in the process).
The tuners were mediocre, so I replaced them too, with Gotoh deluxe tuners.

I play classical, but also folk and finger-style "singer-songwriter" type stuff.
This guitar has a great tone. It's loud and rich and really projects. It's not a concert-level classical, of course, but then again it's not priced like one either!
Over the time I've owned it, it's opened up nicely. It's perhaps a bit harsher or sharper than what a concert classical guitarist might want, but, again, it's a high-end study guitar, not a concert guitar. I tried it against practically every other model that the Guitar Center (Boston, MA) had, including another 2E, and its tone was superior to the others in its price range. It was richer and gave out more mid-range tones than the other 2E that was in the store.
One thing about this guitar was that the finger-squeaks along the wound strings were strangely prominent: I don't know why, but something in the physics of this guitar was just ampligying those squeaks. So I use D'Addario semi-polished base strings, and that pretty much eliminates the problem.

The set-up was very good. I lowered the action a bit, according to my own preference, and there was no additional string buzzing at all. The frets are high quality. The intonation is very, very good: I tested it with an electronic tuner, and its intonation was more consistent than any of the other guitars in the shop in its price range.
The finish is beautiful and has no flaws. The rosette design is very elegant. The rosette and the trim have a "red and black" motif that I think is very effective.

The finish has been lasting: it's got some scratches, but those are my fault (belt buckle, changing strings clumsily, etc.).
I'm a little disillusioned with the Gotoh tuners. They're still better than the ones that were on there when I bought it, but the Gotoh's are 14:1, which actually feels a lot different from the usual 12:1 (or whatever it is), and they've become "sticky" rather quickly.:

Don't know. The Guitar Center allowed me to exchange another 2E that I had originally bought for this one that I have now, with no questions asked. (Actually, they did ask: "Why?" they said. And I said that I liked the tone of the current one better.)
So, I'll put "no opinion," because I don't know what it's like to deal with Amalia Ramirez, but the Guitar Center are great!

If it got stolen, first I'd spend a good amount of time being very sad. My Ramirez 2E is a great guitar and I've become very attached to it. The moreso as I've replaced the mediocre parts on it (the tuners and the bridge saddle) with better ones that are more deserving of the overall quality of this guitar.
Then, after the mourning period was over, I would mover forward in life and buy another guitar. I woudn't automatically buy another 2E, because every classical guitar sounds different. I *might* spring for a higher end classical guitar, perhaps an all-solid guitar, but I really couldn't say.

This guitar was made in 2000 in Madrid, Spain. It's a traditional classical guitar, has 19 frets twelve of which are clear of the body.It has a solid cedar top, Indian rosewood back and sides (solid laminate), ebony fingerboard, and I think the neck is maple but I'm not too sure of that. I don't know what tuners were used, but they work great. It came with a case which is why it gets a 10. It,s got everything a classical guitar is supposed to have.
Sound
:

The sound is great. I play classical music (not vey well, not having any formal training), and for the Spanish style it is perfect. It can range from deep and full when playing over the soundhole to bright and very sharp-sounding near the bridge. I've heard that spruce is preferred over cedar for recording purposes, but I have recorded this one at home on my four-track and it sounds very good.

This is actually the second one I've had. I bought the first one at Guitar Center and it was great, but after three days it broke a high e string. It repeated this after I replaced the string twice, and also it developed a buzz near the bridge which must have been a loose brace under the top. Guitar Center opted to replace the guitar because they don't have a Ramirez certified tech. All that aside, both guitars sound great, but I think I prefer the second one in all honesty. The action is just what you would expect medium to medium low and a bit higher at the upper frets. The finish and bindings are simple but very elegant. The top of the guitar is really beautiful, giving a faint striping effect due to the coloring of the wood. The guitar is a great player with even action all over and well dressed frets. The rosette is very nice too.

I'm sure that this guitar will be very reliable, though obviously it will require some care. It's not a Strat after all.

It has a lifetime warranty from Guitar Center, who are really great to deal with. They handled the aforementioned problem very well. I don't expect any problems at all.

I've been playing for about three and a half years. My first guitar was a J.B. Player Granada classical guitar. I also own a Tele and an Ibanez Super 70's Artist. I play through a 1963 Supro 1696TN. This Ramirez is by far my favorite guitar (most expensive, too). If it were stolen I would love to buy another, but I couldn't afford it. I made about four or five trips to Guitar Center and played every nylon string guitar there each time, so yeah, I compared it to other guitars. I also tried some other stores in my area but none came even close to the selection and quality Guitar Center has. The nearest competitor to the Ramirez was an Esteve with a cedar top, but it had a bit of fret buzz and didn't have the volume the Ramirez has.
