This is a 72 KF420 Made in Japan (Inspected and imported by Martin)with a 20 fret mahogany neck w/rosewood fretboard. The top is a beautiful blonde with clear finish. The neck has adjustable truss rods so I can keep the action very close. I have owned it since 1976 and it continues to play the way it was meant to. As soon as I bought it I replaced the cheap tuners with a good set of Grover machines. I replaced the plastic bridge insert with a bone insert for better high tones. Then I put a cheap little piezo pickup inside under the bridge.

Sound : 7
It suits at least one of my playing styles very well. I use it as backup sound in some of my recordings, and on some it is used as a solo instrument. It has a clear, clean sound, but not very strong in the lower registers. Most of my work is blues or jazz/alternative so the instrument works very well. With the inside (hidden) pickup the guitar can be run direct into my recording equipment, or through the Princeton Reverb, and miked at the sound hole simultaneously - what a great sound that is! It is very flexible in sound since that depends on the player's style.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
When I first bought the guitar (used)the acton was kind of high, but I bought it knowing it was adjustable. I did also have to file the fretwire a little after adjustments to keep buzz to a minimum once I adjusted the neck. Since I use 9's on it (very thin) that is my own fault. The finish was beautiful but obviously not the quality of a hand-built Strativarius.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The guitar will withstand live playing but this instrument is not made for heavy metal gigs where it will get beaten up. It's 37 years old so I would have to say it is durable. It's great for unplugged style playing (even if you cheat a little and plug it in to the PA system).

Customer Support : No Opinion
Warranty ?? Always repaired it myself.

Overall Rating : 8
Been playing for 42 years. I don't compare it to other guitars - waste of time. I love the brightness and clarity in recording situations but it has very little volume of it's own. I also play a 96 Squier Fat Strat (with my own customizations)a 70's Epiphone bass with solid maple neck and fretboard and I use a 70's Fender Princeton Reverb amp with the Strat or the Kasuga. I don't know what this guitar is worth. Never seen another one. If lost or stolen I would just miss it terribly. Not replaceable.

this guitar was given to me by my step-dad and I love it . My music teacher has fallen in love with it also .It sounds like it was make espetually for blue-grass music but goes well with all sorts of songs even the newer generation

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
This guitar was very well assembled and from what i gathered was made in japan very good workmanship almost looks new except for a few minor bumps and scraps but sounds amazing .

Reliability/Durability : 7
this guitar should be good for a few years to come yet , everything on it is good and solid though the nut is a little warn though. the tuning nobs are a little bent in some places but still very much functional

im never tryed or needed to get it repaired exscept for changeing the strings which is normal . All guitar players ive met so far have loved the sounds and quality of my guitar so i dont plan on changing it soon though I may buy a second guitar for a diferent sounds depending on what songs i wanna play

ive been playing for a little over a year now and i also play the drums and keyboard but the guitar is my favorite because of the different sounds you can make with it. if ever it were stolen id probrably put out a reward for it for ive heard it is also worth quite a bit
