Martin Dreadnought copy, solid top, looks like spruce, couldn't say if the back and sides are solid but a well finished guitar, with black striped white binding on body and side of neck. I replaced the cheap tuners on this guitar with Gotoh tuners. Don't know when this guitar was made, Kasuga stopped manufacturing in eighties, so I reckon 25 plus years.
Sound

This guitar has a very lively sound, but a the top end is thin, 12s sound thin on this guitar. But it rings very nicely and the body is very resonant. The action is low and easy but does tend to buzz on the lower strings. I would like to get this fixed, especially for drop tunings. I'll give it a seven for sound, as it's as good as any of the cheaper new guitars, Maton, Ibanez.

As I said the action is too low. There was some fret wear and I filed the frets down a bit. It's got nice timber on neck and saddle.

This guitar had a big sticker on the front when I bought it from the pawn broker in Sydney Australia for A$250, and has a few dings, some added by me. A nicely made guitar.

One of the reasons I'm writing this review is to see if anyone out there knows about this mysterious Kasuga company. I've seen Kasuga mandolins out there. But a search on Google for Kasuga D250 got no hits!! Am I the only person in the world who owns this Kasuga dreadnought?? Anyone know about them? Please email.

Been playing for 15 years. Now I know why you all say you'd replace your instrument if you lost it!! It's one of the questions! I thought it was just a lame thing you Americans always said.
I've been trying Garrisons, Taylors, and have my heart set on a Martin, the cheapest solid timber model I in their range. So far Martin has the most clarity, projection and character. Taylor too zingy in the tops and Garrison too dubiously put together, raw feeling.
But as for the Kasuga it is actually a great guitar for the price. Does anyone know if getting a bone nut and bridge would affect the sound much?
