The Kasuga GU3618 is a 6 string acoustic dreadnaught (no electronics). The body has a satin finish. The guitar is quite light in weight.

Sound : 10
The sound is sweet, bright, and clear with good balance all the way from bass to top end. It just sings when finger-picking, and is very responsive when playing rhythm. I strum without a pick and I can make it do all sorts of things depending on how I hit it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
There were never any flaws in the guitar. It was very nice when I bought it, but I had the action worked on and then it was perfect. It has had a hard life, being trapped in my car for 3 days whilst the car was submerged under water during Cyclone Winifred in Bramston Beach in 1986. After that the bridge area has raised a bit, and I have a bit of fret rattle on the top E when using some strings.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is solid and reliable, and has withstood terrible things (drowning!!).

I have been playing for 40 years, and I bought the Kasuga in 1977, and it was the first good guitar I had owned. I checked out many, many guitars before settling on this one. As soon as I plucked out a chord on this thing I knew I had found the guitar for me. The sound was so bright and sweet it made all the other guitars I had been road-testing pale into forgetfulness (and I had tried out lots of NAME guitars like Maton, Martin, Fender et al.).

Since buying it in 1977, I have not seen or heard of Kasuga guitars anywhere. Does anyone out there know anuthing about them?
