O.k. I have just bought a kay ET-200 from ebay. I have no idea where or when it was made but im guessing 60s-70s America. The thing i love about it is the look. From the controlls, 2 switches situated below the top end pick up to the volume and tone knobs. The 2 very shiney chrome pick ups, and a great looking shiney chrome tremelo make for an extremly retro looking piece of equipment that i would liken to a Fender Jaguar, especially as my kay is sunburst.
Im guessing that by the weight of it, it must by plywood indeed when i first picked it up i woundered if it may have been balserwood (haha)
Im already in love with it.

I play my guitars with a ton of reverb on them so bass is important to me. Unlike most guitars that you buy nowadays this is all bass and very very rich.
I have already used it with my 100 watt marshell and turned it up loud. I discovered that it gave alot of feedback but was easy to controll which i would say is a bonus.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Action is good more than you would expect from cheap guitar. The only issue i have with it is its so light. My previous guitar was extreamlly heavy but im sure i can get used to it.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Im unsure weather this guitar is going to take much of my punishment on stage i do hammer my instruments. There is a feeling that the whole thing is just going to buckle and cave in on its self. But as i have just got it we will have to wait and see.

????i think not????

Overall Rating : 10
I own several "cheap" guitars. The main reason is because i prefer the sound i get out of them its usually alot richer and alot bassier. Also due to playing live i would feel extreamly anixious having a Rickenbacker in my hands after a few pints. I pretty sure that if were stolen i would never see another one again.
I think its an extreamly uniquie guitar due to its size (very small) and all the chrome on it.
Im also very lucky as this particular guitar is in mint condition. All the chrome is still shiney and basicly apperars not to have been used

Made in Taiwan in aproximetly 1967, has 22 frets, body made of plywood, unknown neck wood birch?. 2x single pick-ups, has 2switches to control pickups, 1 tone, 1 volume, very unq body style, simular only to some old 60s Fenders, tune-0-matic bridge.

Sound : 10
I play a wide range of music, including jazz, classical, heavy metal, and 70s rock, this guitar has a very acurate, clean and bright sound, uncommon of newer guitars, she can put out pretty much any type of sound you want.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
This was not an expensive guitar when it was made, Kay made mostly department store guitars, so some things i find are not the highest of quality (*cough plywood body *cough) but for 30 or more years of abuse, it's held together really well.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have had zero problems with this guitar, i would take it to any show and expect it to perform perfect.

warranty? support? where?

I've been playing guitar and bass for over 5 years, and as of now, this is probably the best guitar i've used. I own a Fender strat, Ibanez proline, Ibanez roadstar2 (bass) and a Profile black magic. I like this guitar better then all of them, it just sounds and plays better. my only complante is that i don't like the tuners all that much, and i don't trust the bridge enough to bend the notes with it. This is not really a guitar for begginers guitar.

I don't know where it was made or when, but I can give an elaborate description. It has 23 frets, laminated top with a classic sunburst. It has a volume and tone knob, 3-way selector. I'm not sure on the pickup confugutation. The pickups are all chrome with the 6 magnets on each pickup (there's 2 pickups). Added, are 3 black slashes on each pickup, I'm not sure what they're called - I've seen them refered to as single coil blades. Rosewood fretboard. I'd say the body style is simular to a strat, but it has its uniqueness. The headstock is exactly like a fender, and the body is somewhat in a strat shape, but it's weird. Tune-o-matic bridge (chrome).

Sound : 9
It's been a reliable guitar for me. I often use it with a Fender amp, and/or with a Zoom GM-200 guitar amp modeler. I use fender california cables and picks. It can be noisy, but it just depends on what cables are used. It has a rich, full, and bright sound. It has a good variety of sounds it can create. I can use it to play some newfoundglory and blink 182 to some death metal. What I don't like is that its real difficult to find on the web. I have never been able to find a pic. of it anywhere. I'm not too thrilled with the bridge design because my whammy bar is detached, but it has been great. The problem is that it has been a difficult guitar to play; it's not easy like all the other guitars around. The finish is really nice, and the chrome pickups make it look very 'vintage' and pretty.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
the pickups are good. Both are different height, but are great. The look is excellent, and I can't find any other guitar out there with the exact same style! I've been looking, but didn't find anything. The hardware's a bit oxidized, and the tuning pegs aren't in great condition. The finish is good. I bet its been through a lot, and well, it's pretty old; it's pretty good, if not great, for its age.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar has withstand through live playing, guitar lessons, and when at times the guitar would slip though some uncareful hands. The finish seems to be a bit thick. The strap buttons are solid. I can depend on it; in fact, it'll be used for my bands first show! I would use it without a backup.

Customer Support : 1
I have not been able to get customer support or anything. There was no warranty because it was given to me.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've been playing for about a year (people say I'm pretty good for a year). Like I said, I didn't buy it; I wish I had more info on it. If it were stolen, I know I would probably wouldn't find another which is identical. If anyone has any info on this guitar which was described, let me know! I would like to know if there are nother guitars which are simular. I want to see a pic. of it; i want to see someone elses' guitar that looks just like mine. That way I know that there is another guitar like mine.
