I bought one about 34 years ago - new. It's still in mint condition. Made in Japan. 19 frets. Back and sides are ash laminates. Back is three different kinds of wood (maybe ash and Alder?)- the center section is in shape of large inverted "V" top to bottom. Beautiful wild grains in the back and side woods. Top looks like spruce, and has matured in color with age. Rosette looks to be a decal. Head stock has a narrow flowered patern vertical stripe inlay. Classical body. Neck is rosewood, is flat, and standard classical width.

Originally used it to play flamingo. Now I am using it for hawaiian slack key. Sounds rich and mellow. The original tuning machine keys were pearl butterfly. They fell apart after only 20 years (imagine that!). I replaced them with Allparts gold/black gear/ebony tuning pegs machines. What an inprovement...much smoother, and attractive. The tone resonates right into your soul. Comfortable to hold and play.

Can't reven remember what I had for breakfast, let alone 30 years ago. This thing is vintage.

This is the kind of guitar that you can seranade your honey with, out on the porch after dinner; and it will make you look alot better than you really are. If you want more than that, you'll have to get plastic surgery.

I hope the warranty wasn't lifetime. I'm sure the Kay company had no idea how long I'll keep this little sweetheart.

I don't think many of this model has survived. A little surgery on the tining machines, and that's all I ever needed to do. I'd miss it if it was gone. (and no, I'm not too cheap to buy a different guitar). I have a different guitar. If you have one already - hang on to it. Sometimes older is better.

This is a classical guitar 19 frets It is the third one I have had and they have all been about same size. I have not restrung it for about three years and it still sounds really sweet.
I just wanna say thanx kay. And if any one knows any more about them this one was made in Japan I bought it S/H at a car boot sale.
I have been making noises with them for about ten years now
And it's the first one that I have felt this good about.
