made by saul koll for me in 2003.
mild dbl-cut koll body shape, w/armover & tummy-cut
22 medium frets (taken down very low, as i often bend strings w/the whammy bar), korina body & neck, 22-fret brasilian rosewood fingerboard.
gibson scale length
2 lindy fralin p-90 pickups, w/one volume and one tone ctrl.
limed korina finish, slightly greenish/brown, in nitro finish
special narrow headstock (w/straight-string pull), accomodating extremely low-mass LSR tuners
hipshot ball-bearing vibrato bridge, w/back-rout for bar pull-ups
4 teisco style 2-position rocker switches:
1 pickup rocker
1 rocker chooses both pickups
1 rocker chooses the microphone (see below)
1 rocker turns on 60-cycle hum
(tone ctrl pulls-up, for out-of-phase pickups)
(there's a single shaker mic built into the bass-side upper bout, for feedback effects)
pickguard made of conductive copper is wired to separate output, for my future purposes.....

this guitar has remarkably responsive dynamics & sustain, with a very rich & warm woody tone that doesn't squash its bell-like harmonics; it's got some serious deep spanky sqwakk, as well:
i love this thing;
it's the first non-headless non TransTrem guitar i've purchased in some twenty years:
i just ordered another one.

flawless, really.

saul's attention to the details of craftsmanship, fit and finish seems complete; i doubt that any real problems will arise.....

i've known about saul for some years, and briefly had a 'superior' model in my possession.
after having had this custom instrument built for me, i have absolute confidence in him not merely as a great undersung luthier, but also as a responsible, ethical dude and businessman.

i don't think that i could be more pleased; i was looking for a characterful instrument to be played every single day & banged around the world for studios & stages --- saul didn't blink AT ALL over the idea of updating a classic instrument design w/my somewhat unusual electronic needs, the whammy bar, the LSR tuners, etc:
in fact, he expressed nothing but enthusiasm for this mildly wacky project..... the beautiful result of his enthusiasm is now making loadsa noise, and i'm thrilled and digging it.
