Made in Japan, 22 fret, alder body, maple top, maple neck, 1 volume knob, Bill Lawrence BL-500XL humbucker, classic white finish, strat-style body, original floyd rose. I acquired this guitar from a friend who stopped playing guitar and had it sitting in a closet. I got it off him for free =D

As far as tone goes, this guitar has a lot of edge and really shines with leadwork. I play mostly Power/ Melodic Metal through a Peavey 5150 combo. This guitar really shines through more so than my Ibanez with a Dimarzio Evolution. It's pretty bright, but still very full, and not as twangy as a strat. I would say this is a fairly versatile guitar for guitarists playing any high gain rock music, but not much else. even though it BL is a high output pick up, it can sound very clean with the volume rolled back.

Since it wasn't even stringed and had missing parts, I took it in to a local shop. I got it back and it sounded and played like ass, I had to reset it to my liking, but it's very easy to maintain now. It looks like some of the finish was sanded of and it does have some major scuffs, but it's more than 20 years old so I'm just happy it's still in one piece. It looks like whoever wired the pup did a poor job, 2 wires are held together by duct tape, and the volume cuts sometimes when I turn the volume up, but it hasn't been such a bad problem.

I think it can withstand a gig, everything is still pretty solid after all those years. The finish is kinda messed up, but I think it gives the guitar character, I might repaint it sometime in the future. It's very dependable and durable, but I would most likely gig with a back up until I can fix the minor problems with it.

I couldn't even trace it back, the serial number was sanded off.

I've been playing for 2 and half years. Like I said, I own a Peavey 5150 combo, and an Ibanez RGEX2 with a Dimarzio Evolution bridge pup and a Seymour Duncan sh-2 neck pup. Hands down this one wins. It just has more bite and overall better tone. If I ever lost it, I wouldn't bye another one unless I can find one as old as this one for a reasonable price.

I think they sent this to me to soon when they came back in stock. It played great for a while but considering its a non finished Maple neck the wood shrunk & you could feel the frets sticking out on the side of the neck when sliding your hand up & down. Also the quility control must be bad considering the frets were just awful!
Other then that its a sharp looking guitar!

If you are a collector then its a cool guitar to keep around the house. If your a gigging musician like me it will need some work before its ready
(new pickup, Fret dressing, etc!)

One volume knob (CTS audio taper 500k). That in itself is big. Less = more. OFR made in Germany, Shaller tuners and strap locks, Gibson 84T pickup. The hardware is top of the line. Solid alder body with unfinished oiled maple neck with integrated board. 25.5" scale, 12" radius. Absolutly awesome neck. Made in the USA, not just assembled.

Awesome sound. The 84T pickup is very much like a SD JB. Very versitle. More than most realise with the use of the volume pot. Just roll it back for that smooth, fat blues neck pup sound. I'm still amazed at how easy it is to from a 5150 tone to a bluesy tone with just a quick roll of the volume knob. Amazing.

I got mine directly from Music Yo. It came almost perfect. Intonated and all. Action was spot on for me. That means low action. Everything came perfect. The finish is typical poly tough.

This guitar is so reliable. Its unreal. All of the hardware is of the best you can get and the craftsmanship it superb. You can gig with only this guitar and be a happy camper. Its that solid. If I lost this guitar I would go nuts. I would try to replace it asap. Problem is that Kramer has stopped making these. I for one can't understand why. If Kramer has any market sence they would keep this guitar in its lineup. Kramer and one hum guitars go hand in hand.

The 1984 is without a doubt my absolute favorite guitar I have ever played. It is simple and straight forward. Its also way more versitle than most think. You just have to think a little different to get whatever sound you are trying to get. Thats a good thing. Gets you to think a little different to be creative. Top notch craftsmanship plus top notch hardware equals a great guitar that competes with ANY guitar.

This is very simple guitar but very very awsome guitar!! 1 84t gibson pickup, schaller made original floyd and schaller tuners, volume knob, evh style hockey stick headstock(sweet!). Got Mine in checkerboard red dead sexy! maple board and neck which is unfinish also awsome. I give it a10 in this category. it dosent have many features but its not supposed to.

I play mine through a spider II 75 watt combo thru the green crunch channel and it can get a pretty brown evh sound even through that. just what i want from this guitar! sounds alot like the women and children first Album or van halen II will sounds great for ther other albums from the eighties. It also can do classic rock stuff. (Its a gibson pickup modeled after a hot gibson PAF from a es-335.) it will do your eighties hair and glam metal stuff to. never played any of that modern 90s to now metal crap through this guitar bet it will sound good for metalheads, but you could plug a $50 guitar in your metal settings and it will sound the same.( Im one of the few teenager players that hates Metal)The thing that worried me when it was coming was the volume pot. other reviews say that it gets muddy when you turn it down but i guess that doesnt happen any more because it cleans up the best out of all my 20 guitars without losing treble. Awsome sound!

I Don't gig. not old enough but its pretty well built id bring a backup if a string breaks it will stay in tune because its set against the body but still bringone. (Id suggest kramer focus 1000 another great kramer and its cheap on ebay 300 to 400 now. Check that one out too.)

Great sound! It's a beast. I play mine through a 6505 Peavey combo amp. I can get close to the brown sound if I put Ed's settings on; though I prefer my own. Ed once said that he never had need for another guitarist because he made enough "noise" that would drown out other players. When I crank it and put it on his settings, I get a better understanding of what he meant. It's one straight forward sound but it's a great sound.

Not set up well out of factory. I think that's almost standard with Musicyo. I'm looking into a Steinberger and all the reviews say basically the same thing;set up like crap out of the box. Anyway, there was fret buzz on the ninth fret of the high E string right out of the case. I took it in to a local shop to have 11 gauge stings put on and they told me that the nut was also too high, they had to take it off sand some off the neck off to lower it. they also fixed the fret buzz. Other than that it sounds great. The red color on the website is a bit misleading as it is darker when you actually receive it.

Great guitar! I'd get another one if it were lost or stolen. I bought mine for 699 and for the value it was hard to find something else comparable. Believe me, I tried. I give it a nine overall because no gear is the panacea for end all tone. I'm sure Ed would say the same thing as well as he too is a self described tone chaser.

Features are fantastic exept for in my opinion the machine heads. They are not responsive enough for me and was lucky enough to have another guitar with those heads that clip the string wich i switched out that day i got it.These are more sensitive ie higher geared. But that is of no real concern since this is supposed to be was made in 84. Other then that i cant say one is better then the other for parts accept the rose wich i have experiance with since i have owned very few guitars in 25 years

i wanted brown sound and sustain and harmonics and i got it right out of the case inspite of the pickup being low and unadjustable. I am playing it through a peavy xxl. when i turn ed off and just play to roths side i sound like ed himself...so freaking cool. hey guys if you have solid state dont turn that preamp up to far 3-5 max! on hotter amps if you want brown sound and crank that reverb...kill the midrange lots of treble and turn down the volume on the pickup a little for some of the stuff...dont go crazy with that bass on hotter amps...that pickup is hotter then shit! bolted down solid..it aint going anywere and the electronics well done. if you switch out that pickup..why get the giutar...gods below...dont move it either

action was high but playable...i think that is factory policy...the bridge is setup so that when you lower it it comes paralell to the body..as the neck goes...i cant wait till mine is all stained like new halen! i have not painted mine wich is solid red for respect for ed. Finish is perfect. If you dont like light finish dont get it..says right in the specs...i say fabouls rating here becasue this machine is totally adjustable where it counts...its eds guitar...made for big hands and long fingers

if its taken care of and in a rather dry enviroment like california..yes it will last...i suspect a very long time as as one does not mess with it unless they know what they are doing...most guitars will need refretting if played enough...its put together so well that if you dont put a lot of demands on the pot like ed would it will be something to put in your will

i wanted eds guitar becasue i loved his sound and it seemed to do what he needed of it. I watched him use it in live wkithout a net many times and that deal from music yo was to good to be true. Sorry Ed. At least i have my own style and make the guitar credible to me in that way. If i ever make it big i will use it.

This is an excelent sounding guitar. Pick Up is pretty hot, tight bottom good mid's very bright sounding and has excelent defintion to it. I am using a Brunetti XL-Revo 60 watt head combined with a Behringer speaker (BG412H 4x12" Jensen-speakers).

The quitar was setup very well. Action was great. It plays incredibly easy. No flaws or what so ever. Only minus for this guitar is that you have to remove the neck to adjust the rod. The truss-rod adjustment cut out is to small to put in a wrench. Of course Kramer could make the cut out bigger but than it would not be a 100 % replica ....
I would have liked to have the cut out to be larger, that's why I am giving it a 9 here.

If find it a very inspiring guitar, great neck, body feels good to,great sustain and harmonics etc. I love it just as much as my Wolfgang.

Ordered in 2006, I'm guessing it was made in 2005 or 2006. 22 Fret, solid Alder wood, single volume knob, Gibson 84T pickup mounted flush to the body with no springs. Neck is solid maple with maple fingerboard. Schaller Tuners. Fairly wide neck, same scale as all the old-school Kramers. 25 1/2" I think.
Sound
:

Sound is very hot and clear. I'm running it through guitar port right now. Its much brighter and glassy-er than the LP Custom I have. Pickup is very hot, and captures every little nuance and movement of your fingers. I love the sound actually. I had planned on getting a Duncan JB for it, but I might hold off on that now. The only drawback is that if you back off the volume from full, it doesn't get quieter it just loses the treble. Interesting.
Wide open though with some crunch and it captures the "Brown Sound" very well.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

The action was perfect out of the box, it is setup with 9-42 guage and I usually use 10s so I suspect that after changing the strings I'll need to do some adjusting. Intonation was perfect. Nice and low with no buzz. The paint job is black with red bullseye and I can find no blemishes. Very nice paint job. Neck feels very nice, its unfinished so you can expect that you should oil it every now and then. It is very well put to gether, and the Floyd Rose keeps it in tune even after doing divebombs. It plays like a dream. Very fast and makes you want to burn up and down the neck.

I foresee no problems with this guitar. The straplocks that come with it work very nicely. There isn't much that can go wrong with it. I did notice that the frets are glued on instead of tapped into the wood. I do not know if that will pose a problem years down the road or not. We'll see.

Overall a 9. Don't be discouraged, I never give 10s since I have never found the holy grail of guitars.
The case is incredible, the guitar is a great value for your money. You can't really get a better deal than this if you're looking for an Eddie Van Halen style guitar.
