One humbucking pickup called a Quad Rail. Metallic red finish. Black hardware. Floyd copy, Volume, tone with a coil tap. 24 jumbo frets on a rosewood fretboard. The neck is thin and a little wide. Reverse headstock. Alder body, maple neck. Came with a D-tuna.

Kick in the BOSS Metal Zone and you have to back of a little on the amount of distortion a little. Very hot compared to some pickups. High output. The coil tap changes the sound a bit, but not drasticaly. It makes more of a diference on clean settings. It has a good tone. It is suited more for metal and lead playing. I would say old Dokken, RATT, ect. If you drop the E to D with the D-tuna it sounds pretty damn cool. It was after all made to ROCK! It does just that. I played it through a Roland chorus amp and used an old BOSS Distortion/Feedbacker with delay and flanger. Now I'm using a Marshall JCM 800 and 1960A 4X12 cab with a multitude of effects including the Metal Zone.

Needed a setup ASAP. Got it done. Factory setup should be unremarkable unless it was done right at the factory. I have had a few come in setup to my specs without having to tweak anything. No flaws at all. Got a good one.

I've had it for almost 3 years and still no problems. It goes everywhere with me. It's my travel axe. It's a tank.

I was hoping for a Baretta copy. The pictures on the website didn't show that it had an Ibanez S style body. I thought it had a Strat style body like the Baretta models. I was kinda disapointed at first, but it gre on me and now I find it pretty damn comfortable. It's not my choice for a frontline axe. I have plenty of outstanding guitars for that. I know I can rely on it on any staGE, GARAGE, studio, ect. It was a good purchase.

2000 model. REALLY nice cracked white finish (although more black shows through). looks like an Ibanez S (plays like one too) but a little thicker so it doesn't flop around and stuff). the basic features: 24 frets, alder body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard (really dark and dense, like ebony), one quad humbucker (all you need), volume, tone/coil tap, floyd rose bridge, and an Eddie Van Halen Drop-D Tuner (very nice!!!). This thing has all possible features in a surprisingly simple guitar.

WOW THIS THING IS HEAVY!!!! It's got such a grinding distortion tone. The alder body sounds like mahogany. Very bassy with the right amount of mids and trebles. Basically four single coil pickups wired into one humbucker.
To get a clean sound out of it, just pull up the coil tap and it goes to a mini humbucker (so it has more of a single coil tone without feedback). It still gets a little distorted, but not much. Some chorus helps that and makes any clean sound better.

I can imagine that this guitar suffered many climate changes in the back of a truck getting to my house. So when it came, the action was a little high and it needed to settle into the climate of my house. After a day, everything was fine! Just a few minor adjustments needed to be made. The finish is GREAT! It would take a lot to crack it. No screwups here.

This guitar is very tough. It survived its journey and didn't get wrecked at all as I mentioned above. The tuning isn't perfect however. But what do expect for this price? This guitar will last a LONG time. Everything is solid and works fine. I think I could play live with it, but like any other guitar I'd need a backup.

Everything is covered at the MusicYo website (www.musicyo.com) where I bought it. I e-mailed them about shipping charges once and they got right back to me and answered all my questions. Very helpful.

I've been playing for a couple years now and have owned a bunch of guitars so far. For the money, this thing is AWESOME! If you're gonna buy a guitar online though, make sure you can play one first somewhere else.

This is the current production of Kramer guitars as made by Gibson. They are in my opinion, the best you could buy and not just because they are $158 bucks! It has a body that is basically a strat, but is shapped like an Ibanez S series. It's made of alder. The neck is maple and the fret board is rosewood. It has 24 frets and a reverse headstock. The Floyd Rose copy is ok, but will due. I prefer an origional Floyd, but thats all a matter of prference. The bridge comes equipped with an Eddy Van Halen D-TUNA. This gaget detunes the top E to D. It does work and makes it easier for those of us who just have to have a locking tremelo to detune without unlocking the nut.Now we get to the pickup. It has one humbucker. This pickup has four rails that can be split with a push pull knob that is also a tone knob. This pick-up RIPP'S!!!!!!! If you like METAL, you will like this pickup. It's so hot, you can't back off the distortion by turning down the volume knob. It still shreds when the volume is upat one! Controls consist of 1 volume and one push/pull tone knob. This guitar feels, looks and most impotantly sounds great. I wont rate it because some hard core Paul Reed Smith player may think it sucks and try to get you to shell out $2000 or more. You don't have to spend loads of money to get a good guitar. Speaking for those of us that can't afford a Les Paul custom, This guitar is all you need for METAL> I personally rate it a 10. You would have to decide for yourself.

I play Dokken, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Van Halen, Ozzy, Metalica, Slayer, Sepultura, Hendrix, Stevie Ray, Creed, Blink 182, Limp Bizkit, Korn..............ECT. I have been playing for 17 years. I love all music and have no prejudice towards any form of music from rap to country. I just prefer metal. I have owned loads of guitars. This Kramer FR400D is one of the good ones. Back in the 80's I used to play through a Marshall stack. The heads were old and I can't remember what they were. I had rack effects and thedeal. I narrowed it down to a Crate GFX 120, Morely WAH WAH and a DOD delay. I like to keep it simple. Too old to tour anymore ( 29 going on 30 ). The Kramer sounds like a screaming bannshee through my set up. I also have a Crate GFX 15. The Kramer wails through that too. I played Voo Doo Chilli ( Hendrix ) using the Kramer and it sounded great. I give it a 10.

This guitar came in brand new condition like most new guitars do ! It was set up here in the USA. As shipped it had decent action and playes well. I would have the action lowered and bridge adjusted to my tastes. It is a quiet guitar. I can rate this because it's a universal thing.

I would tour with this guitar. As a matter of fact, I would do like I used to do and keep 2 more of the same for back up. I used to play BC RICH gunslingers and I bought 3 to keep me going during a show. The strap stays on. I have been using thae same leather strap for years. It is worn out. If you use a brand new strap, you will have no problems hanging on to your guitar. It's a very dependable guitar.

Bottom line, personnal preference is what it's all about. If you love Les Pauls, you may not like a Kramer FR400D. I have a Fender strat and a Jakson soloist. I love the sound of both guitars. I grew up in the 70's and 80's and really bought the Kramer because it l I played back in those days. I am very satisfied with it and can't put it down. For the begenner who has some really tight parents like I did back in the day, the $158 dollar price tag makes it easy for you to get one. It has the basics so you can play a wide variety of music. If I were to have to compare it, I can say it's hotter sounding than most guitars you will find on the market these days. The neck is thin, but not as thin as an Ibanez or Jackson. In short, You will not find the perfect production guitar. People who have to have perfection get their guitars built by over priced custom shops. People who want a guitar that does the job can get a Kramer.
