Made in Korea. These were prorotypes with conventional necks and are not the twisted neck models that Lace later released as production models. This is my second one of these - it has three Gold Lace Sensors, the other one used Holy Grail pickups. It is a Strat style body with a 3X3 painted headstock. Maple neck, rosewood fretboaed. Not sure about the body wood, but Lace told me my other one is basswood and it looks like the same guitar. Gotoh locking tuners, Wilkinson tremolo (my favorite - very smooth). Candy apple green finish.

I am using this specifically for the Lace Sensors, for clean or overdriven sounds. For more distorted sounds, I use humbucker guitars. Many people hate the Lace Sensors, but I like them a lot. They do not sound like a conventional Strat pickup (the Holy Grails and many other pickups will do that job), but give s smooth, bell-like compressed sound that is good clean and handles distortion well. If you're used to conventional pickups, you may need to adjust your gain higher when using Lace Sensrs. They can also be adjusted to any height without causing problems. The pickups are quiet. Not completely free of noise, but very close, depending on the amount of gain, your amp, etc. They are much quieter than normal single coils. I play mostly through a variety of amp simulations on a Boss GT-3, but also use small tube and solid state amps.

Setup was exceptionsl. Low action without buzzing, no problems with finish. Green isb't my favorite color, but this is a nice beight metallic finisgh.

I would always have a backup, but this seems pretty solid. I've had my other one for about a year and a half with no problems.

I got a prompt answer to an email on my previous Lace guitar. The Web site doesn't mention this, as it is not a prodcutioon model, and there aren't spec sheets or manuals.

I've been playing 30 years, but mostly other instruments - guitar seriously about 3. I have about 20 other guitars - Fender, Gibson, Parker, etc. I probably play the Parkers more than anything. I wanted a guitar with the Gold Lace Sensors, and this filled the bill well. It is roughly the equivalent in quality of a Fender Strat Plus - good nut, locking tuners, good tremolo, same pickups - but at a significantly lower price. I would certainly replace it if I could find another at this price. If the price got much higher, I'd consider a Strat Plus.

I bought this online from spidergear too. This is a sunburst strat copy with three ace HG-1000 holy grail pikups and a gold wilkinson trem and locking gotohs. I dont have the tone select thingy, just a standard 5 way switch. I'm going to give it a 10 for features cause it is what it is, a strat type.

ww sound, ----at first I loved the clean sounds immediately, some of the best I've heard, and in all positions too. The pickups are noiseless models of a set of 54 strat pickps and I believe it, very chimy and bell like, low output for sure but hey, its a strat and that was the goal. My brother owns the same guitar with all gold lace sensors and they sound much better for distorted processed sounds, but his clean sounds are too sterile, nice but nondiscrept, mine have tonal character. with that said I didn't like the distorted sound, even with a tube screamer, it was ok but I was pretty much settled that this was a good clean guitar but not something I'd record leads with, I own at least 25 distortion pedals and the only one that even sounded ok with it was my Ibanez sm-9. All this changed when I borrowed my brother's Morley JD-10 (jerry Donahue's model) pre-amp/ speaker emulator pedal, with the speaker sim and the overdrive activated this guitar sounds killer (just kill the mids). since J. donahue is known for playing tele's he probably voiced his pedal for lower output pickups. and using the pedals powered eq makes every pickup come alive, its like having a guitar with 5 lead selections , each with a different tone but you gotta tweek that eq.

ations a little high, but I kinda like that on this guitar, the trem probay needs to be set better, I like the trem on the body, but I actually have this slihty off it. this is a Korean made guitar with american electrons and parts, the neck feels smooth, but I've certainly felt better. I paid $350 for this guitar and It had a list of $1200 supposedly , This might sound like a $1200 gutar (hell the HG-1000 go for $100 each) but the workmanship and construction is more in the $500-$600 range, beautiful paint job though.

the gold hardware is already starting to pit after two years and I live in arizona so it ain't humidity, but I've owned many a guitar with gold hardware and they all are either too thinly plated or they pit. Its as realable as any other

they don't make them any more, I suspedt ASI, the makers of Lace pickups, tried to front their own guitar brand and It failed so they unloaded dead inventory to spidergear for liqiudation. I shudder to think what fender would want for a strat with the same setup.

this was a find, but then I own several guitars that are killer that no one thinks about looking into. i basicly bought a beautiful guitar for the price of the three pickups.

S/S/S pcikup configutarion. Lace Holy Grail (passive) pickups in all positions. Maple neck. Wilkensen tailpiece and tremolo bar. Gold plated hardware. Mother of toilet seat pickguard. Locking Gotoh tuners. Sunburst finish. 4 bolt neck. One volume and one tone control, plus an "Acto tone" switch which creates a more acoustic-like sound. 5 way pickup selection switch similar to a strat.

My style is a wide varietu - rock, punk, alternative, bluegrass, etc. The guitar sounds great clean, overdrivenm, or distorted. The Holy Grails have individual polepieces, unlike earlier Lace Sensors. They are basically an excellent replacement for stock Strat pickups - same character without the noise. Compared to earlier Lace Sensors, these are more capable of harsh, growling sounds. You can also get very smooth overdriven sounds. These pickups have more sustain than stock pickups but nowhere near a humbucer. The tone control actually makes a difference, and the actotone switch gives quick access to a different sound. There are differences between pickup positions, the bridge position is better for distorted leads. All positions are quiet. This ia a 9 only because I'd like more sustain. With the equivalent of a Lace Sensor Red in the bridge, I'd have pretty much the exact sound I'm looking for. I presume that these are the HG1000 pickups form the gold color writing - they also make a hotter one with a red logo.

This is the best looking guitar I have ever seen. The sunburst finish (headstock also) is beautiful, with the grain of the wood shiwing through. The action was set up exceptionally well. There was less fret buzzing than with any of my other guitars. The only flaw was that the top layer of the pickguard was starting to peel at a couple of the corners, which was easily fixed with some glue. It has gold plated hardware, similer to a Fender Deluxe Super Strat.

I've only had it for a few days, but it seems quite solid. The strap buttons are excellent. The hardware looks solid, but I have some concerns about the gold parts wearing off (no evidence of this yet). I would certainly use it on a gig, but I would always have a backup.

I've been playing about six months. This is one of my two main guitars - my other is a MIM Strat with Lace Sensor Gold and Red pickups. They make different sounds, but I suspect I will wind up playing this more than the Strat - I like the locking tuners and the tremolo better. If it were stolen, I'd get it again, assuming I could find one. This is an older model. It does NOT have the 20 degree angled neck of the Lace Helix model. For what I paid for it, it's a steal. Laces list for way higher prices, and the pickups and tailpiece alone would be worth the price.
