I bought this new and had got the two humbucker model for less than a hunder bucks, then I decided to get the three single coil model, which is what I should have done in the first place due to other guitars that I already owned. The guy from ebay graciously traded with no problems. the guitar plays very nicely, and sounds very good, it came with three gold Lace pups, & I quickly swapped out one to a 1500 Lace Holy Grail, but honestly I don't hear alot of difference between the two, the original are really very good. My only real "complaint" with this guitar is it's weight, it is so light weight that it just doesn,t feel like a "real" guitar. I think it is poplar wood, I know to some people this would be an advantage. So if you are looking for a lite weight guitar that sounds very good, this would be a good choice for the money.the neck is finished very nice, the frets are finished very nicely, the tuners are really very good, I just retrieved it from an upstairs room that is much cooler, and it was in pefect tune, and all of my other guitar that I brought down were out of tune due to temperature difference. this model has a 3X3 headstock, and not a traditional straight six style headstock, which does take a little time to get used to. It is a Fender scale neck with the standard tremolo bridge you find on this style guirar. It does have a pretty decent qauck in 2 & four position. the tuners are very nice and no need to swap them unless you just have to have locking.

Sound : 9
I think this guitar sounds great, it just hasn't won me over, I think because of the weight of it. I will always pick up my Schecter strat first, for obvious reasons, and it also has a humbucker in the bridge position, that can be split or coil tap. Now I must say that when I do pick this up, it does surprise me with it's sound, and if it were the only guitar I had, it would be very adequate, and could very well get the job done. It has a very good blues sound, and the pickups sound very god, I think these are the pups that used to come stock on the Eric Clapton model that Fender issued. I'm using a 2X12 all tube amp, Randall RT- 30, and run an exention cab (EarCandy 2X12 thanks Tim) I use a couple of Boss pedals, but prefer to run stright into the amp w/o any effects, just seems to sound better to me. It's a strat body with a 3X3 headstock, takes some getting used to, but I have no complaints in the sound department. It is a very quite guitar, and I have had no problems there.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I think all I did was just change the strings, and check intonation, everthing was dead on, and no need to change anything.it is nicely assembled, nothing to complain about.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I don't see any problems with the factory hardware. the pickgaurd is a w/b/w and not a real cheapo one like on some guitars in this price range. the finish is good, I havn't encountered any problems with this model.

Customer Support : 9
I traded another model for this one, and the guy I dealt with was very nice guy, I thiunk his name was Edmond, or Egbert, I think he was of Russian decent, a very nice guy to deal with, he was from Fishkill, NY.I don't think there would be a great need customer support, you should be able to take care of anything that would come up.

Overall Rating : 8
this is actually a good litle strat, but it takes some time to get used to the weight, and the 3X3 headstock. I would purchase it again for the money, and if I changed anything, it would be to a heavier body.( which I have looked for several times)

2004, Hunnington. 21 frets, Hum/Hum, 3 way switching, Designed by Lace Pups, Basswood body, maple neck, three to a side tuners, strat body style, non locking tuners, medium frets, Through body tremelo.

WOW. This little beast rocks. I can't believe the sounds that you can get from these Lace pickups. I have a Drop and Gain also but this has much more clarity while still offering the great harmonics and grind when you need it. Ver rich and full without the slightest hint of muddiness. Not at all what I expected from a "cheapie". It's got a lot of classic Duncan and Dimarzio qualities. Like a great blend of the two. I play it through a fender twin and a peavey classic and they both love this guitar. It has a ton of guts for such an inexpensive guitar. More than any other asian import even comes close to. Man they did the right thing with these pickups. At three times the price I don't dislike any single thing about the sound. It's incredible!

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Kind of hit or miss here. I think the other reviewer was a little harsh but it does have relatively cheap hardware. What do you really expect for less than $200.00. I can change out any cheap parts if needed for next to nothing but I'm leaving those pickups in!!! Here's what mine is lacking. The paint job isn't perfect. It just needs some wax and mabe a little better buffing. No biggie! The tremelo is the standard quality you see on every other cheap import on the market. Not great but functional. It needed a little tweaking out of the box to get it right but it turned out perfect.I had one tuner that didn't turn as smooth as the others but still functions fine. I can overlook all that for the quality of the neck and the sound. It plays great. Better than my Telecaster by a long shot. The neck is straight as an arrow and the frets are as perfect as they can get. With the tiltedback headstock or something there seems to be reduced tension on the strings. 10's feel like 9's and you're fingers can fly on this thing. It plays like a guitar costing at least three times as much. In fact I've had my share of $500.00 junkers that couldn't come close. I'm glad I got this. I think I'll keep it for a long long time. I love it! I give it a ten for playability and action and about a 7 for the hardware.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Have owned it for almost a year, took my time before I wrote a review. It's hard to judge a sub $200.00 guitar compared to a $1000.00 one. I will say this. It hasn't had one breakdown, it stays in tune for days with the least amount of fine tuning, the neck is still straight as an arrow I can't see any fret wear yet and it still sounds freakin' great. The hardware might be fading now but SO WHAT! This ain't no collectors piece of wall art! This little freak is awesome!

Customer Support : 10
These guys are the greatest. Their website is super helpful and their phone support even better. AWESOME!!!!

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing about fifteen years steady. I bough this just because I had a friend get one and I couldn't believe the price and that it sounded that good. Figured I needed another guitar I could jam the parties with and not get all worried about it. This exceeded my expectations. It's an unbelievable guitar for the little money. Get one if you can you'll have a blast.

Standard H/H Huntington. Same as the others reviewed here.

Sound : 8
This is one of maybe two redeming qualities of this guitar. It just plain sounds good. I really love all three settings. Incredible sounding Powered by Lace pickups. They do have some noise though. Not too bad but they're not hum free. I have owned a few cheap Chinese guitars. Everyone was built far better than these.
If this Lace didn't sound this good I'd use it for firewood. But it sounds absolutely fantastic. I think the pickups alone are worth the price of the guitar. 10 for the price- 8 to be a little realistic

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
Piece-o-shit ! I really don't know where to begin on this part. These may be the worst built guitars I've ever seen. Except for the days when Kmart used to sell guitars. The neck fits the body so sloppy you could probably fit a dime between it. The jack plate is thin, cheap tinny crap that doesn't come close to fitting flush with the body. Paint job sucks too. Spotty, rough, flat. Looks like they used a two dollar can from Walmart. Bridge, tremelo is another POS. Non functional for the most part and about half of the saddle screws were stripped.Cheap pickguard, cheap whammy bar and mine came with two high e strings on it, The only thing I'd say is acceptable are the tuners and neck/frets. So far so good. Not great, just better than a lot I've known. The neck and frets are well done. Super low action if you tweak it and smooth nicely finished frets. It seems the two things that really mattered, playability and sound have been done extremely well. The rest is just plain CHEAP!!! In effect A good straight neck and smooth even frets, excellent action! Crap fit, crap finish

Reliability/Durability : 3
To soon to tell but I won't hold my breath on this one. The hardware is as cheap as you could ever find. The finish about the same. Real third rate. The strap buttons have felt washers. That's one good thing. You might need a back to back this up. It does sound unbelievable though considering just how poorly these things are made. I guess they figured they'd save money and use it for the pups. It sounds so nice through my Fender amps and they are so cheap I bought two. Even I can overlook cheap quality manufacturing for great sound and playability. These are top shelf party guitars. Break out the smokes and the drinks, and don't even blink about scratches or dents. Just shut up an play yer guitar!

Customer Support : No Opinion
They probably won't admit they even have their name on them. LACE. I know the make incredible pickups and higher end guitars but why did they bother with these cheap guitars. For just a few more dollars they could have kicked butt. They obviously aren't too concerned with the foreign quality control issues so I won't bother them. Can't expect much from a $120.00 guitar

Overall Rating : 7
Been playing about twenty odd years. Have had a million guitars, currently only about fifteen. Past couple years trying out as many Imports as I can get my hands on. Always looking for the diamond in the rough and it's a cheap hobby. Ther are so many on the market these days and some are just excellent. I have a few Imports that just blow me away. Each one less than $300.00 some less than 200. I know they can be made, I know they can be affordable. I will never understand why Lace would waste these great sounding pickups on such a cheaply manufactured guitar. Close but no cigar. Beginner build/ better than average sound and playability. If it were better built it would be excellent.

Standard Strat features except for the pickups. The Lace Sensors are wonderful. No buzzing or feedback problems with these. The neck is amazing. Two-piece construction, nicely designed headstock and decent tuners. Excellent fret-work. Smooth jumbo frets are always a plus. What I like most about this is that it's a bit lighter than my real Strats. Very comfortable to use live.

Sound : 10
Two Lace Sensors. Again, I'm new to Lace products and love them. Playing through a Mesa Maverick, the clean channel tones are superb. With the amps overdrive distortion, the pickups are amazingly quiet and very "non-classic" rock sounding. I'm basically saying that these pickups are not muddy sounding with distortion.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Excellent out-of-the-box set up. A few intonation tweaks and it rocks. However, it was shipped with crappy GHS strings. A set of D'Addario's did the trick. The finishing/dressing on the neck is wonderful. I wish American Strats were built with as much attention to neck finishing.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Solid neck joint. Clean wiring. Mine is a dark blue. The finish looked a bit soft (unpolished). I did wax it twice to even everything out. I'm a hard player and it's standing up quite well. Easy to jump around with live - medium weight for a strat copy.

Customer Support : 10
Excellent. I own four of these and I will continue to buy as needed. Lace is more than willing to go out of their way to answer questions. Very fast email responses.

Overall Rating : 10
It's a great guitar for under $200. I choose Huntington over the Mexican strats. I've already had one stolen while on the road and I've replaced it with another.

Basic strat styling except for the headstock, which has three pegs on each side instead of all six in line.
Web site says it is a three-piece alder body. Roswood neck. 21 frets
Two Powered by Lace humbuckers. Three-way switch
One volume control and tone controls for each humbucker.
String-through tremelo bridge (not sure what type) 3 springs, looks like it could hold up to 5
Non-locking tuners.

It came with D'Addario strings, according to the hang tag. Don't know what gage.

Did not include any accessories, except for a cheap cord. Also didn't have any paperwork with it, but I bought it off of ebay, so what do you expect.

Sound : 9
Don't really have a musical style yet. This is my first electric guitar and I'm only starting to learn to play.

I'm playing it through a Peavey bass amp a friend gave me (not ideal, but it was free) and the only effect I have is an MX distortion pedal.

The guitar is not noisy at all. The volume and tone controls actually work. The bridge pickup has a nice bite, for lack of a better word, when the tone is set on 10 (It's a good rock sound). It has a more bell-like, jazzy tone on lower setting and the neck and blended settings are also more mellow.

Don't know about the variety of tone, because I'm just monkeying around with it right now. Sounds really cool through the distortion pedal in a 15-year-old punk rocker sort of way.

I tend to prefer either the bridge pickup on 10, or the middle setting with the bridge on 10 and the neck tone set on 5 or six. I'm really happy with the sound, especially for an $80 guitars

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The was set up really well when I got it. Action was fine for me, or at least easy to play and didn't buzz. In fact, it was almost in tune. Intonation seems fine, but what do I know.

The black finish looks really nice. Flawless finish. Frets were nice and smooth, no burrs or anything.

Neck was almost perfect except for an extremely small glue spot near one of the inlay dots and a small difference in the finish near the bottom of the neck. (I'm being extremely picky here. When I say small, I mean really small.)

There were two problems that I would have been upset about if I had paid full price, but since I got it for less than half price, I wasn't concerned.

There were some scratches on the pickguard and on one of the humbuckers that looks like somebody slashed it while trying to open the box. They were purely cosmetic, and since I got a deal, I figured it saved me the trouble of scratching it up myself.

Also the tremelo arm was not machined right, so it would not screw into the bridge. Don Mare, the tech guy at Lace suggested I loosen the bridge to see if that helped. It didn't, so he sent me a new arm and a new bridge.

I figured that after I took the bridge apart, put it back together and restrung it that I would have to get it professionally set up, but all I had to do is raise the action on one string.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Haven't had it very long, but it seems very sturdy. There is no chance that I'll be gigging, so I don't know how it woud stand up to live playing.

However, I do have a daughter, who's almost two and likes to come up and bang on the fretboard and turn the tuners and unplug things while I'm practicing. So far its weathered that, as well as a couple of bangs against the wall without any ill effects.

The strap buttons seem to be screwed in well. I'm using a really old strap I got when I was a kid, which is kind of worn out, but it's staying on so far.

It's certainly seems dependable.

Customer Support : 10
I cannot begin to tell you how great the people are at Lace. One of the reasons I decided to buy the guitar was that Don Mare, the head tech guy, handles customer enquiries on the message board. I figured that was a good sign.

Turns out it was a great sign. I called them when I had the problem with the bridge and the woman who answered the phone connected me to Don right away. He suggested a possible fix, and when I called him back he said he'd send me a whole new bridge. The whole conversation took about 5 minutes, with maybe 30 seconds on hold.

He sent a new tremelo arm in one package, which seemed to work, and the whole bridge came a few days later fedex ground.

I suppose it may non sound that impressive that they took care of a problem, but keep in mind that I called them about a guitar I bought off of ebay, it didn't have a serial number or any other paperwork to prove that I had bought i new, or that I even bought it at all. I could have been a loser trying to scam a replacement part.

Overall Rating : 10
I used to play a little as a kid and am picking it up again just to bang around in my living room. I decided to get this model, because the powered by lace pickups got good reviews on the site, and i figured a pickup maker would have to be stupid to put shoddy electronics in their new line of guitars.

The only thing I would change is that I would love it if it had a fat strat configuration instead of the two humbuckers. They seemed more versitile when I tried them out in the store, but were twice as expensive.

The guitar is really nice looking, light weight and seems to play really well... and it was only $80.

With shipping it was about the same price as a Squire bullet on musicians friend.

Before I found the guitar on eBay, I was seriously considering paying $199 to order one. I feel like I would have gotten a good deal even at full price
