This particular model was custom made in 1989. I got it used and the salesman that sold it to me told me that the person traded it in for a immaculate vintage Martin. It is a dreadnought without a cutaway. It has a undersaddle pickup in it that will soon be replaced (I'm aiming for a Dual Source or a Sunrise. Great ebony neck with amazing inlays. I can't explain them in words...you have to see them to believe it. For being an acoustic guitar it gets a 10.

This is hands down the best acoustic that I have ever played. I played hundreds of guitars including Gibson, Martin, Taylor, Takamine, Santa Cruz...the list goes on and on. Then one day I saw this guitar hanging in the corner of the store. I picked it up and strummed one chord and I knew that I would never play any other guitar again, unless it was made by Del. I never knew thought that I would give any guitar a 10 for sound but Del has proved me wrong.
The walnut body works out very well. It sounds very rich and has the perfect amount of bass, mid, and treble...its really amazing how it just fits. I played fingerstyle with a pick for strumming but now I just play exclusive fingerstyle because I can't find a pick that will reproduce the touch and sound of my fingers. So for no my picks will stay with my electric guitar.
I have tried only two types of strings on this guitar, Elixir and D'Addario. The D'Adarrio's sound much better than the Elixirs. It takes a little while (about 1-2) days for the strings to break in for a great sound.
As of right now I am only miking the guitar but hopefully that can change once I get a new pickup system. So...overall...this guitar is the best sounding on the market, no doubt about it. Its so good that I had to tweak my singing voice because the sound was so pure.

The action is set fairly low which is perfect for me.
This guitar was almost 14 years old when I bought it so it does have some cosmetic flaws. There are a couple of chips in the guitar and one crack in the finish. I have seen guitars straight straight from Del's shop and in no way does it reflect how perfect they are from shop so I will give it a 10.

What's not to depend on? If anything were to go wrong there is a lifetime warranty to the original owner (unfortunately I cannot participate). The only thing I could possibly see going wrong with this guitar during a gig is maybe a string breaking...but that would be human error.

Del's representative/ administrative assistant (Ruth) has dealt with all the emails that I have sent her in a very responsive matter. All my questions were answered by the next day. If I ever have a problem with my guitar I can just drive to Holland (about 1/2 hour away). I have talked with them and they are very appreciative and anyone with an interest in Del's work is well received by them.

Although I hate to admit it, this is the first steel string acoustic that I have ever owned personally. I have always played other people's guitars. I figured it was about time for me to get my own and as mentioned above I fell in love with this guitar. I would be absolutely devastated if someone stole this guitar (it would never get lost...its always by my side). I am actually looking for a good insurance plan for this right now that may make me able to buy a brand new Langejans if this were stolen.
I honestly can't think of anything that is wrong with this guitar other than the cosmetic flaws that were on it when I bought it. It's just an amazing piece of work...hats off to Del.

Guitar was made in 1998; solid top. Special rosewood slim taper neck with ebony fretboard. The back is walnut and top is AAA engleman spruce.

This guitar is the best acoustic I've ever played. I play fingerstyle. Though it is a dreadnaught, the walnut back prevents it from having too much bass. The sound is even and excellent for harmonics. I have no dislikes.

Del set the action low, which is perfect for my style of playing. The selected woods are immaculate. There are no flaws in the finish.

Del is excellent to work with. I have had no need for repairs, but having dealt with Del often, I know that he will stand by his work.

I have been playing the guitar off and on for over 30 years. I also own a special made Langejans nylon electric (a modified Earl Klugh model); a special ordered Heritage Electric Golden Eagle; a Ray Cummins Signature Telecaster; and a Tacoma Chief for travel. If this Langejans were lost or stolen I would definitely try to get another. If I had the money and my wife would let me, I'd own as many Langejan guitars as I could.

This hand made beauty has solid Walnut back & sides and Solid Spruce top, cutaway, Fishman Prefix Onboard Blender pickup system, Grover tuners, Walnut neck, Ebony fingerboard. Del uses curley maple for the binding...no plastic binding ala Taylors...

The walnut body gives a very even sound, but with more bass presence than Mahogony. I play fingerstyle, light strumming and this guitar delivers spectacular sound in all catagories. I have play this guitar direct to the board, through a Boss AD5 processor and through a Roland Acoustic guitar amp. Everyone comments on how good this guitar sounds...an I mean everyone!! The only reason it does not get a ten is that no guitar is that good....

The guitar has a lifetime warranty, but I have never needed to have anything done to it other than a truss rod adjustment( I did that).

This guitar is one of the finest guitars I have ever played, and I have played hundreds. Better than any Martin or Taylor or Lowden I have ever touched. I would not hesitate to buy another guitar from Del if I had the money to do so.....
