Mine must have been made somewhere between 95 and 97. I bought it in a small shop in Huntsville Alabama and i know it was sitting there since about a year before i bought it. The body has an interesting, formica-like casing around the wood (I really don't know my materials well enough to know if it is formica). it's really solid but i have noticed a crack starting around the outside of the body; I think it's the formica-like covering that's cracking. It has a really cool vintage like body. As oppossed to a lot of recent vintage looking guitars coming out, these people really did a great job on the design. It looks like an amp is lodged in the body. Real neat. It has a headstock that looks like a hand giving the thumbs up...I actually think it's kind of goofy looking but the body makes up for it. Two single coil pick-ups, volume & tone knobs, plus a switch for front, back, and both pick-ups. The neck is oddly curved; it's thinner at the top and gets a little thicker and rounds out towards the bottom. I'm not really sure what the function of this design is but my hand does fit nicely around it: very interesting indeed. You can go to their website to see what these things look like.

I like it. I can get a very bright sound and a very damp sound as well. The brights are kind of Telecaster-like and the damper sounds are kind of like a Strat kind of dampness. I like to fool around with different styles of music and this guitar is really versatile for that: I would feel comfortable playing Jazz, Country, Blues, and most kinds of Rock. I like getting the guitar to sound like it's under water...and i can with this...but if I needed I can get it to sound like a bright sunny day.

I know they are now producing cheaper models. Mine must have been an early one from their factory (I really don't think they need to make a cheaper guitar to compete with Danelectro). Everything was fine but the action. Way to high for me, so I had it adjusted. I'm not sure about the more recent one's their making. And again the formica-like finish is starting to crack around the edges...i don't know if will get any worse. The neck & frets are beutiful...and again, except for the headstock, it's a beautiful guitar.

So far so good, but then I don't really play out. I primarily record so this may not be a good catagory for me to comment on.

WOW! When i first learned about these guitars I called the company. I was thinking about ordering one straight from the Lindert shop. I spoke with a couple people and they were very nice. No talking down to me. And they were very helpful in trying to get me a guitar. Of course, it's their living to sell me a guitar, but beyond that I thought they were really helpfull...but this was in 97 or 98.

I initially went for the design but have come to love (after i had the action adjusted) this thing. I can't really think of any reason why I would get rid of it. I do know they are making cheaper versions of these (300-350) and can't really comment on those. I also think it's important to support small companies like this...with Fender selling new "vintage" guitars at one or two grand a pop there is every reason to support shops like Lindert. I paid 500 bucks for it and feel like i ripped them off. If Fender were putting something out like the guitar i have they would be charging at least 850. This is a great guitar. I'd still like to try out their cheaper versions...but if you can get one of the better quality ones like the one I have, do...buy many!!!!
