It's layed out like any (standart) jazzguitar, two stock humbuckers, a threeway pickupswitch on a big fat hollowbody. But I need to say that for the price I paid it's very well constructed jazz guitar.
Every guitarist should try his guitar NOT plugged in first, with this one you can hear and feel it's quality wood used in a quality build.
It's plays very well and I really was amazed that they deliver such quality for such price.

Allright it's time to plug it in, used mutiple amps, gotta a cheap fender transistor amp myself (but I also tried it on twins, hotrods, marshalls even)
And the sound was not that good, the pickups seem to be mumbling, not expressive and cheap actually. I play blues, bluesrock and they just didn't give me the bite, or grawl I was looking for.
So i've had them replaced with Schaller Golden 50's. Smart move i recon. Now it's got a full rich sound and the dynamics are GOOD. When I stroke the strings it's sings softly but when I give it hell it's howls.
This is guitar is good, except for the pickups, they are crap, replace them and you'll have a wonderfull guitar. I've played with a friend of mine who's the fortunate owner of an Ibanez GB (which is like almost 4 times as expensive) and the sounds of both guitars -on the same amp- was quite similar

Most guitars in the shop aren't adjusted to what I like and so I replace the thin strings with some proper fat ones and adjust the neck according to it, but the rest of the guitar was pretty well balanced out.

Like I said before it's a very well build guitar, the construction is solid! I've been using it without backup.
I'm in more bands and it's never let me down, I do take good care my intruments so I haven't put under a lot of strain/abuse.
Hardware, finish seem sturdy and the neck is of superb quality, this one sure hasn't got the gibson-disease (you just look at the neck of a gibson and the head snaps of)

I've been playing for a good ten years now and I've never been rich enough to buy the real deal, which makes you look for good alteratives. I did have the chance to try and hear a lot of realdeal expensivo's so I think I've got a decent judgement.
This guitar is great value for money! I looks good, sounds good (but really replace the pickups!!!) and it feels/plays good!
It think it's one of the best choices when you haven't got a well fed bankaccount
