this is a well crafted guitar wich i believe is spruce-top or some light colored wood resembling pine tone to it. the sides neck and back are rosewood. it has a ninteen fret neck or as i would describe 18 and a half since the final fret is cut away as part of the sound hole. the high gloss finish still has a wonderfull shine to it there is a nice decale around the sound hole in a light brown golden color that accents it well. the bridge is a string through body also made of rosewood the lyle g-640 is ade from japan through the gibson company though i still dont know what year.

the most unforgetable sound ive heard in y 8 years of playing guitar this G-640 was given to me by my great uncle from my grand fathers side and the first time i heard it's deep tone i melted. i play death metal and on ocation light rock to country .i would never play accustic in death metal unless i warped it through an effects pedal but the g-640 Lyle is so deep and warm toned that i play it in drop -D with just a microphone in front of it. its nylon strings also have a classical sound that i refer to as in the movie desperato with antonio banderiz

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
the neck action is very smooth as the neck has no tention rod in it, it still has not warped even the slightest. ive had other guitars such as the ibanez grx-20 electric wich i must constantly retune the neck on the Lyle also has no twang in the strings were ive had from worn saddles on numerous other guitars.

Reliability/Durability : 9
i would lable this a very reliable guitar and the only reason i would take it out of the house is the fact of being an airloom that i was lucky enough to inherit. although its still taken quite the abuse as i forget to hang it up on its hook and have bumped it quite hard with many objects i've only found it two have about two pea sized nicks in it and one mar i might call it wich goes deep but has still not taken the gloss finish off or even cracked it in any way

Customer Support : No Opinion
i love to work with broken guitars and drums so i have not refered to trying to contact anyone for repairs. however i have lost one of the tuning keys and need to find a replacement so i will keep you posted

Overall Rating : 10
i have played giutar for 8 years now and had this one for about 6 i also play drums keyboard and violin. if this giutar was ever stolen or damaged by disaster i would certianly locate another of its model i love the quality in its sound very rich and its wide frets since i have long fingers i can feel more spaced on the action and that gives me less pal cramps. the Lyle g-640 has an older look to it wich i feel brings character but nomatter how old it looks or how old it is, its got a sound that beats any new guitar ive played and probably forever will.

I have heard that this brand of guitars are only foud in Oregon, thats where i live. It's a 19 fret acoustic with very little damage for a guitar which i'm guessing is around 25 years old. I don't know much about the kinds of wood, but it's really sharp looking, shiny as can be, and classical, with nylon strings. This thing has got JUMBO frets on it.

Sound : 10
The sound is deep, i love how it sounds and most acuostics would be horrible sounding next to this thing. It's loud, heavy, and rich...those are the only ways i can describe it. You can play anything from classical to acoustic metal....if thats possible.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It's looking brand new and i've never heard of a lyle guitar that is nerwer than from than early 80's, theres one kind of big scratch in the wood on top, and thats about all i can say about the damage. This is a beautiful guitar. All of the parts on it still work, and it looks great.

Reliability/Durability : 10

I love playing this guitar, its a bit hard to hit any fret past 12, because of the oversized frets, but i know that it is definatly worth the $15 i payed for it!
