I bought this guitar in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1974. I paid $175 for it new which was a fortune for me then. It was made in Japan. It has a solid spruce top, a rosewood fingerboard and I assume mahogany sides. It is a dreadnought style. A Guild repairman replaced the tuners that came on it with a good quality set and replaced the adjustable bridge with a solid bridge in the late 80's.

I love this guitar! It has the smoothest fingerboard of any accoustic I have owned or tried and that includes a Martin and a Fender. The sound is very mellow with out the booming bass or harsh treble of other makes. It has a good clean sound.

The guitar came from the factory well set up with an incredible fingerboard that has only gotten better with time.

I have been playing since 1961 and I have owned a Martin and a Gibson. I have to say the Madeira is my favorite and I don't know what I would do if I had to replace it. I don't think it would be possible. I don't play it that much any more because I started playing a fiddle some years ago but the Madeira is my favorite guitar of all.
