I'm not sure when or where it was made. It just says it was adjusted and distributed exclusively by Guild. 19 frets. Top is laminated cedar, back is laminated with the exterior being rosewood and the intierior being mahogany. The sides look to be solid rosewood as the grain matches on both the interior and the exterior. The grain in the rosewood is beautiful with a glossy finish. Fully bound in dark brown witn a thin yellow colored pinstripe. Black stripe down the center of the back edged in yellow also. Neck appears to be mahogany with a rosewood fret board. Tuners are gold and pearl. I belive the nut and saddle are bone.

This is the whole reason for giving this review. The sound of this thing is amazing. I bought this and shortly thereafter bought a Gibson C1 classical. I thought I'd get rid of this one but played it while I was having some work done on the Gibson. This thing really grew on grown on me. I have my Gibson back but in comparison, this thing sounds much richer and resonates more. The tone is well balanced. It is great to finger pick and it sound surprisingly sweet when lightly strummed.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Bought it used so I don't know how the factory set-up was. One complaint, I have to keep it tuned in concert pitch because the action is low, probably too low. The 5th and 6th strings have a tendancy to buzz slightly if you try to drop tune it at all but the rest of the strings sound so good I hardly notice.
The wood grain on this one is very attractive.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I'm assuming this guitar is at least 30 years old and is in great shape and stays in tune well. Finish is still very durable glossy. If I was good at finger picking, I'd gig with this no worries.

Been playing 30 plus years. For an inexpensive, laminated top, this guitar is hard to beat. This gets played more than any of the other guitars I own, martin d-15, gibson b-25-12string and a gibson C1-D. As I said before, I bought it thinking I would play it a while and sell it but now I can't do it. In fact I'd replace it if I could if I ever lost it. I have a grand daughter taking lessons who will wind up with it someday.

This is a beautiful classical guitar with woods that just aren't used anymore. I don't know when it was made, but it was bought in the early 70s by my mother. Made in Japan. Solid spruce top. Deep, dark rosewood back and sides. Bindings on the edges. Nice rosette around the soundhole. Rosewood fretboard. Transparent finish. Neck is made of mahogany (I think). 19 frets, body up to 12th fret. Classy tuners. The only bad thing is that it has incredibly high action.

I play classical, some strumming stuff as well. It doesn't have a pickup, but i think I'll invest in one soon. The sound on it couldn't be better: top notch woods + 30 years + perfect condition = one great sounding classical guitar. Good bass end, as well as crisp highs. THe mids are also sweet. With new strings it is stunning.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Don't know how is was originaly set up. It hasn't ever been changed. No flaws that I can see. But it was a cheap guitar in it's days.

Reliability/Durability : 8
It has lasted very well in the humid climate I live in (70-90% humidity all the time). I think once the bridge came off, and my mother had it glued back on. the guy who did that didn't do a very good job, though.

I have played only for a year, classical teachers. I love this guitar! I own a Godin electric as well, and I love them equally. If this guitar were stolen or lost, it would be irreplaceable. Nothing could fill its shoes for the price. I have played many other classical guitars and haven't found one that comes close to it yet! I haven't even heard of anyone else with this guitar, so if you own one or have, please email me. I'd like to know what it's worth nowadays.
