This is my second guitar from George, and soon, a third will follow. A year ago I ended up with the first "Jumbo" Acoustic flattop, see review under Acoustic Guitars/Master Guitars Jumbo. It was off the charts but did not receive perfect marks, very close, but not perfect. None the less I was hooked and ordered a Nueva Archtop at the beginning of the year. This has led to a dialogs and George tempting me with other guitars. When he forwarded me the pictures of a newly completed Grand it took me 5 Seconds to make up my mind to purchase it. This beauty is built with the most stunning Brazilian Rosewood, Orange with black streaks and Italian Spruce super tight grain Top, Brazilian Neck.

Sound : 10
So, It arrives I open the top, tune it up and the fullest sweetest sound is emitted after the first strum.I can only imagine when the top opens up how it will sound with the Brazilian back and sides. Since its arrival my other 9 guitars have gotten lonely and I'm feeling guilty that I keep gravitating to this one. The guitar responds well to finger picking and to the pick. Through hard charging blues, soft finger picking and raucous rock it responds beautifully.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Last review George scored less than a 10 on this one (8.5), the action was high and needed to be adjusted, and a few very, very minor flaws in the trim.(Here I have to admit to being extremely anal.)The grand was Perfect,I have examined it extensively, it is flawless. The set up is buttery soft. The Brazilian Rosewood is book matched, the fit and finish are impeccable. I didn't think it was possible for a human hand crafted guitar to be this flawless!

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is so well built it will last long after I'm gone and my kids are gone. It is obvious that the sound will only improve year after year!!!

Customer Support : 10
This whole relationship developed because I needed a replacement Nut for the tension rod in the neck. George immediately mailed me 2 at no charge. I have since exchanged many e.mails and phone calls with George, it is nice in todays world that he will take the time to discuss what ever I happen to want to know about. George loves his guitars!!

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 33 years, but have gotten very serious over the last 3.5 years, playing at least 1 hour a day minimum and taking lessons weekly. So my guitars are really the only possessions that I'm passionate about. I also have had a lifelong involvement with high quality woods. So when I found a Luthier who combines both, I felt like I had hit the jackpot. My biggest problem is restraining myself from buying every type of guitar that George builds! I would put Georges guitar up against a Ryan or a Olsen any day of the week.

This is a review for a MASTER GRAND Deluxe made by George in California. I believe it is one of a kind. It is stunning. It is a flattop with the tightest possible grains with hand carved flmae maple back and sides. The finish is a sweet unique sunburst and the flame on this guitar is absolutely 3D. It is insane. Teh carved back is very deep and beautiful. Nitro finish. It has a ebony fretboard and pickguard, with no markers except side position and a abalone inlay at the 12th fret. The body is fully bound in a wide flame maple binding and the headstock is ebony overlaid with some intricate grean abalone inlays. Schaller tuners and a ebony bridge with abalone pins. Flame maple 3 piece neck. It is a little flashy for me but I actually don't mind that as it is tastefull and read about the tone! I will give it a 9 due to no pickup, but I am picky about that anyways so it is probably better not to have one yet. But now I can;'t bring myself o drill this beauty.

Amazing! Amazing! It is a 2004 Nov make and it is so so sweet for acoustic Jazz. It projects like crazy a warm and rich tone that is just immpecable! It has such a complex sound and it is so so sensitive to your playing as I can get it to really drive a bass note or realy lay some subtl tones out. It is beautifully balanced in its tone. I was in the market for a flattop Jazz axcoustic and tried several, Roger Borys, McGill, langjans, etc and this one just stands out from the rest it is hands down the greatest flattop jazzer I have touched. It gets better evey week as the highs are really starting to come out sweeter and sweeter! I really don't know how George G. got this guitar to sound this good. KUDOS!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The finish is AMAZING as I said the nitro sunburst finish is very unique and has a beautiful brilliance to it. As I said I usually have fairly modest looking guitars and this really stands out in looks, but when I played it I was in awe of its tone and it plays so so easily with excellent intonation and just a perfect setup. I have acoustic 12's o it and it sings!! I can't find any glue anywhere. The binding is this wide flamed maple and it is beautifully applied. The nut is carved!! from the ebony board and is perfectly carved!!!

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
It is solid but not a toy or a strat. It needs to be handled lightly when travelling, and the woods are all solid. I keep a big *ss humidifier in my house and monitor my guitars always closely. I haven't had it long enough to say anything about it lasting, but everything so far is absolutely stable.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't tried to contact the builder yet, no reason excpet to say Tahnk you and many praises

Overall Rating : 10
I have numerous guitars I love but this is the one I play everyday now. I have 2 custom Carlo Greco archtops!! 2 vintage standels 430-c and 811-s, Ibanez L5, johnny smith, joe pass. A Langjans R6, and now this killer Master guitar. I LOVE this guitar and it is just right for me and my style of playing. I would check out the other Master guitars if a another style caught my eye, but this is the one right now, but in terms of quality and build design and tone, I can't imagine you could be going wrong with Master Guitars. This one is a jaw dropper!! Lost or Stolen, I would have to be restrained. I would love another one but I don't know if it exists or my wife would allow me to buy another, but I would have to as I couldn't sleep until it was replaced.

2004 master grand cutaway handmade in the good ole u.s.a.the top is a very tight almost flamed engelmann spruce with with a highly inlaid african ebony bridge ,pickguard and fret board.the sound hole is also inlaid with green abalone.the back and sides are made from solid master grade cocobolo, honestly, the most figured i have ever seen, and both are binded with the same cocobolo along with black/white/black/white/black striping.the neck is made from honduran mahogany and is very comfortable with a nice sutle roundness and has a very unique heel and support for the headstock and does have a truss rod adjustment, along with 14 frets to the body and 18 to the cutaway.the finish is supurb.high gloss nitrocellulose that appears to be ample and stable,i've polished it many times and the glow just keeps getting deeper.overall i believe the insrument to be extremly well made and much attention to detail.every day i seem to find another little special touch.

my guitar is still very young and hasn't opened to it full potential, however the first time i played her i could still smell the chemicals from her birth and was immediatly impressed with the rich bass and clear midrange but the treble side hasnt begun to give me that ring that i believe will come out.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
the guitar was delivered to me two days from final assembly and was in excellent condition with a beautiful high gloss finish and set up to play with no fret buzz anywhere.

Reliability/Durability : 10
only time will tell but appears to be designed and constructed like a family heirloom.i own many high end guitars and this is the only one i would dare have my name inlaid on it.

Customer Support : 10
not sure what the future will bring but have had many emails and phone conversations with the owner and builder, all returned very promply and helpful.i think georges customer support is himself.

Overall Rating : 10
iv'e been playing for a number of years and dabble in buying and selling medium and high end guitars.this guitar is quickly becoming my favorite.i compare it constantly to my fox and my huss&dalton in craftmanship but it has tons more flare.the biggest problem i have encountered is the fact that its so flashy everyone that sees it wants to do the touchy-feely thing which i dont care for.i was in search of a guitar that my four year old could pass on to his son and i believe i found it.if you are close to delaware i might even let you play it.
