1999 Model EM225C. Stock, standard finish etc. AP4 Pickup etc like all the others. With a free hard case.

Sound : 10
My music style is very Neil Finn, Simon and Garfunkle, Beatles. I am very happy with this guitar although I am about to order an EBG808- the same model that Finn uses. I play the EM225C through a PA- Marshall speakers. No hum, clear crisp acoustic sound. Good for strumming and plucking- but very, very good on plucking.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Everything is great here. No flaws, everything made very well. I have dinged it once- but it gives the guitar character.

Reliability/Durability : 8
In a gig it is superb- doesn't need anything else but voice. Just one thing happened once with the pickup- the batteries popped...this is kind of weird, but I think it was my fault for not changing them enough.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed any help...

Overall Rating : 8
Been playing for almost ten years. Own another acoustic Epiphone and an electric Epiphone Sheraton... jazz style...
The EM225C is a little big for me. I prefer the smaller EBG808 so will change- but if it wasn't that, I probably wouldn't get a new one. Love it...selling it to a good mate because I'm a bit attached.

Maton Em225c

Cutaway, and ap4 pickup system
back, sides, neck and headstock all Queensland maple. The top being solid sitka spruce and a rosewood bridge. nitro satin finish. I got a free hardcase thrown in too!

Sound : 10
This guitar is a gem, and it suits my guitar styles fairly well. I really do like the sound it has it is a full sound. And when put through a pa the sound just gets better. Very good.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Overall I am happy with the action and the finish is really good, the grains in the wood are really nice and give the guitar character.
I have had no problems with the pick up as of yet, or anything else for that matter.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I think the guitar would hold up very good doing gigs, although I think the timber would ding easy, so a bit of care would be needed.
Although as usual with any acoustic humidity could be a problem, if not looked after properly.

Customer Support : No Opinion
12 month warranty to be free from workmanship and material defects.

Overall Rating : 10
I am very happy with this guitar and I am sure I will keep it, cause I havent really found a better sounding acoustic than this particular guitar. Although I recommend that you try before you buy, because the shop where I purchased mine from had three different em225c's and they all sounded different, so i wouldn't just order it. Go and try it out first to make sure you are happy with it yourself.

EM225C, 2002, Australian Made.

Sound : 7
I like the brightness of the sound. It is bright and bass projects well.
Its an individual sound that not many other guitars have.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
The action is too low which is a problem as there is way too much buzz. I could try lighter strings but I will get the action changed. Hopefully that will fix it. I must say that the setup isn't great.

When putting the Maton into my 8 track. I have lots of hum. Unbearable for recording which sucks. I am looking in to why there is so much hum, I hope i do not have to spend lots on D.I. boxes etc. If anyone has some clues about reducing hum please email me.

Reliability/Durability : 7
It seems to be fine.

1 year warranty on manufactory faults.

Compared it to the Yamaha LL-11E... liked the sound of the Maton better.

i have been playing for over 20 years , owned fender , takamine and various other guitars, really like the nitro cellulose finish , i think
that guitars of the fifties were made like this , and the wood can
"breathe " if i remember the things i have read correctly

Awesome, The body is natural with a sunburst finish, a beautiful guitar with crisp blacks andsoft wood tones.
It comes with an AP4 built in and it sounds unbelievable plugged into an accoustic amp with a good horn and sub woofer.

Sound : 10
My style is accoustic originals and covers. I have played guitars that lack that 'twang' sound that professionals get with their expensive takamines and and whatever amps they plug those terrible fender and gibson accoustics into. This beauty plays well with only the built in amp.
Delivers that crisp accoustic sound, the sound of new strings vibrating is unbelievable.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
haah, i dented it when i have bumped it accidently.
Appart from that it is flawless

Reliability/Durability : 10
hopefully it will last me a long time caus i love it.

Customer Support : 10
Maton are all to happy to help out. Caus the guys who made my guitar can fix it, they all sign the inside of the body so you can see that the real people made it

Overall Rating : 10
the best accoustic i have ever played, taking in value for money etc

I bought my Maton second-hand in 1999 for $800 with a hard case.
It was in pretty good nick, with only a few scratches here and there.
It is a 1996 model and has the ol-style pick-up.

Sound : 10
I play rythm mostly, with a bit of finger-picking.
The Maton loves finger-picking, it sounds great played soft.
They have a real gutsy sound - you can easily pick one out even if there are a few being played. Matons sound different to most other guitars, a bit like Takas have that different sort of Country & Western sound. No, it doesn't sound like a Taka.
I love the sound of my Maton - it is real and raw, especially plugged-in, but not harsh. Gutsy is the word.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
My guitar has had the action lowered, and there can be a bit of frett buzz on the top strings (E and A) when plugged in (though this may be due to my playing style) but it is very nice to play.
The finish is great and they are a very nice looking guitar. You can always pick-out a Maton from a distance.

A word of warning. I have played mant Matons in shops and they all play very differently. Some I have absolutely hated. Make sure that you play the actual guitar before you buy it - do not buy from a catalogue only. Play the guitar first.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
The EM225C has a natural/satin finish and will withstand a fair bit of punishment.
They are built to be taken on the road.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Don't know about support as I have never needed any, but the previous owner returned his because the glue didn't set properly and was given a brand new one from the dealer.

Overall Rating : 8
My guitar plays and sounds heaps better that the amount I paid for it. All of my friends who have played it (including some semi-professional musos) have said that it is a very nice guitar.
I was shopping for over 12 months for a new guitar and found nothing during that time that I liked, and I played heaps of guitars up to the $2000 price bracket.
I would definately look at getting another one when the time comes.
There are some legendary brads out there eg.Martin, Taylor, Gibson, and many people mock Maton for their use of Spruce in the bodies - they say that it is a joke.
But for me, I like my guitar. It is Australian, and it's made by real people like you and I who also love guitars.
A guitar is something that you hold close to your heart when you play it, it is different to any other instrument. So purchasing one is something that comes from the heart also, it is never an easy decision selling/giving away an old guityar and buying a new one.
I really love playing my guitar - I'm going to go and play it now.

I play mostly fingerstyle. This guitar has awesome sound either with or without an amp. Best on-board electronics I've heard in acoustic guitar including Taylor. As said earlier in reviews action could be better.Thats why I give it a 9 instead of a 10. Great looking guitar too.

TODAY I PLAYED A MATON EM225C WHICH WAS FITTED WITH AN [AP4] PICKUP SYSTEM . THE MELODY FLOWED THROUGH A FENDER ACOUSTASONIC JR AMP, THE SOUND WAS SOULFUL,GUTSY YET AS CLEAR AS CRYSTAL. THE SOUND OF AUSTRALIAN WOOD HAD AN INDIGENOUS AND HAUNTING MELODIOUS TONE THAT SURELY COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED,I WAS TO SAY AT THE LEAST VERY TAKEN WITH THE INSTRUMENT.LATER I PLAYED A TAKAMINE SANTA FE WHICH IS AN INSTRUMENT WHICH COSTS TWICE AS MUCH AS THE MATON. THE MATON WON, HANDS DOWN. TOMORROW I WILL BUY A MATON EM225.

Sound : 9
MY STYLE OF MUSIC RANGES FROM SAVAGE GARDEN TO SLIM DUSTY. I USE A FENDER AMP.I HAVE BEEN PLAYING A SEAGULL GUITAR WHICH IS AN INSTRUMENT OF QUALITY, BUT IT LACKS SOUL AND BODY. THE MATON NEEDS NO EFECTS, NO GIMMICKERY WITH NO OTHER SOUNDS AUDIBLE,JUST A RICH CLEAR TONE. THIS GUITAR WILL SUIT MY STYLE OF MUSIC WHICH HAS A VAST GIRTH. GOOD ONE MATON.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
OFF THE FLOOR THIS PRODUCT CAN BE TAKEN STRAIGHT TO A GIG, PLUG IN PLAY.THE GUITARS LINES WHERE SMOOTH AND FLAWLESS WITH THE BOOKMATCHED TOP BEING EVEN AND NATURALL.

Reliability/Durability : 10
THE MATON EM225C IS IN MY MIND A RUGGED AND RELIABLE ROAD HORSE, CAPABLE OF WITHSTANDING THE RIGORS OF EVRERY DAY USE ON THE ROAD.I PLAY A LOT OF SONGS WITHOUT BACKUP AND THIS TOOL WILL BE A VALUABLE ACCOMPLICE ON THE TRAIL TO LIVE PERFOFMANCE, A THING WHICH IS IN TODAYS WORLD SEEMS TO BE HARD TO FINGER.

Customer Support : 10
I HAVE PREVIOUSLY OWNED A MATON EM535C AND AFTER 6 MONTHS OF USE HAD A MAJOR FAULT WHITH THE PICKUP SYSTEM. I PHONED THE FACTORY, TOLD THEM MY DILEMA, AND THEY HAD A NEW PICKUP ON MY DOORSTEP WITHIN TWO DAYS, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. MATON HAVE A 12 MONTHS WARRANTY ON ALL THERE GUITARS, BUT AFTER THAT IM SURE THEY WOULD LISTEN TO YOUR PROBLEMS.

Overall Rating : 10
I HAVE BEEN PLAYING PROFESSIONALY FOR 10 YEARS AND I HAVE OWNED AND USED A LARGE VARIETY OF PA'S AND AMPS. THIS GUITAR WOULD SUIT ME AND MY LIFESTYLE AND I WOULD NOT HESITATE IN BUYING ANOTER OF THE SAME IF IT WHERE LOST OR STOLEN.
