Made in December '05, with laminate maple back and sides and solid spruce top. Has a plate betwen the neck and soundhole marked 'mini maton' and it's tiny. Amazingly playable despite being about the size of a baritone ukelele. Scaled down in all respects, but feels very solidly built. Hard case included

Amazing for the size! Puts out as much volume as some auditoriums, and acoustic tone is acceptable for a compromise instrument. Through an amp, its awesome, and will surprise a lot of people.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action is perfect, no fret buzz, very playable. The only proviso is that with biggish hands the smaller scale and closer string placing takes a little adjustment. The materials and workmanship are up to Maton's usually high standards.

Neck attachment is different to other Matons I've owned, but it feels extremely solid. I bought this car to carry in the boot of a sportscar, want some music on picnics, it will handle that sort of treatment with ease.

The local Maton specialist in Toowoomba gives service that is unheard of these days, like pulling the tuners off a brand new guitar to supply them for a brother on Christmas eve, setups and adjustments are a specialty, liason with manufacturer is very close.
A continually growing Maton museum makes it even more worth shopping there.

Been playing 33 years, have a MAton EAJ85, and Ayers auditorium, 3 Larrivee Ls (L-03K Koa, L-19 Rosewood and all L-03MT Mahogany) a Seagull 12 string and a Yamaha classical. This one fills a niche market, and is just so cute!
