I bought this one new from MyMusic in Penrith Australia. Its made by Maton, in Victoria. This model was designed and made specifically for MYmusic is penrith.
The top is solid spruce I believe. Maple back and sides. Peghole headstock. Chrome maton machine heads.
Cutaway body, 14 frets clear of body, 18 on cutaway.
Comes standard with the excellent Maton AP5 preamp and pickup.

Unplugged not the greatest or warmest tone Ive ever heard, but a cut above your average guitar, and excellent for the price. Far better tone than you would expect on a guitar for this price.
Plugged through my Seymour Duncan valve amp it comes into its own with the preamp being the best Ive ever heard. Maton has a winner with the AP5.
Sustains beautifully.

Guitar setup was excellent straight from the shop. The guys are Mymusic penrith look after their customers very very well.
There were no flaws on this instrument no matter how close i looked. Just got it back from its first service and its sounding better than ever.

Havent had it for very long, but my previous maton, the Drover is still holding up well despite it being dragged all over the country and played near campfires, in clubs, in loungerooms, by children, and abused by airline staff.
Im slowly wearing a hole in the soundboard with my little finger...
Everything about a maton screams build quality.

The company is slow to answer emails, but generally their service is good. I recently ordered a new pickguard to avoid wearing a hole in the new mulgoa as I have with the drover. They charged me $20 and sent it up by mail which was good. It didnt cover the spot I needed and I didnt like the way it looked so i took it off, but they cant be blamed for that.

Ive been playing for 18 years. I have a Maton Drover, a Fender Tele, A fender Strat and numerous other guitars. I play both the mulgoa and the fenders through a Seymour Duncan 50 watt valve amp.
This is an excellent guitar for the money. Great Value.
