I bought this body from some guy off Ebay 05/08. Just the body, but I found a complete Memphis body just like this one, so figured it was the same model. Mine is a blue-ish, double cutaway, the bottom cutaway has an indentation, both cutaways are sharp bouts. 2 singles and one bridge humbucker space out. I've got pickups for this; I installed them. It came with std. Memphis pickups, but they looked crappy, and probably sounded just as bad. I've got some beat up, used Select by EMG's, so I slapped those in there. The Neck single coil space is slanted downward, like the bridge spot on a Strat. Cool. A basic Fender style tremelo, Six spring one, came with it, but I've got a Harmony 2 pc. bridge system that I'm using instead. The Harmony, the one with the "ashtray" bottom end. The beginner's model guitar w/ 2 single coils. And 2 pc. bridge system. I use that. Don't care for Std. Fender Trems; they ALWAYS make the strings go outta tune. Well, unless it's a REAL Fender Trem. No neck on this one. Just the body. I've got a MX-Z neck, 22 fret, rosewood/maple, etc...that I slapped on there. That also has sealed black tuners. Anyway, this body is pretty beat up. So, either I'll sand it down and paint it, or leave as is, and beat it some more, treat it like a Punk Rock guitar. We'll see....some various possibilities. It came with a 5 way selector switch, but didn't work well. Have another one to use anyhow, so switched it out. One volume and 2 tones; why do Guitar Companies have this sort of set up? Who needs TWO tone knobs? Frick!!! No strap buttons, but I've got misc. parts-so....I just put it all together, and this is what came of it. Not bad, really.

Well, it sounds punky, grungey, grindy!!! I mean, those EMG cheapos help, but still....it's a plywood body, so how much "tone" can one expect to get? But it works ok. Gets good feedback; btw!! lol!! HAHAHA!!!! Sounds like a squealy piggy!!! Deliverance!!! Neddy boy, get on all fours, and squeal for me!!! Too funny!!!! Stays in tune fairly well. Really stretching out the strings helped.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
I adjusted the bridge bar, and truss rod, to make it at least playable for bar chords, and root and 5th power chords. Can't do leads on it too well; not buttery action like a Racy Charvel/Ibanez/whatever....but, for crunchy jamming, ok. Pickups, all other things, acceptable. I know something about fixing up geetars...it helps.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
It weighs a little more than a lt. wt. speedster type guitar, but no biggie. DK 'bout the rest of your inquiries...time will tell.

Customer Support : No Opinion
What support? Is the Memphis Co. even still around?

Overall Rating : 3
Well, I've been plucking away for close to 30 years on/off. Just a hobbyist these days. Occasionally, I'll get the call to play for a night/weekend/whatever. So...

I wouldn't use this one live, unless it's a unimportant event, low key, dark smoky bar kinda thing. Maybe then. It's "useful", how 'bout that? Put it that way. Thanks...I'm out.
