Mine was made in Japan it's a memphis explorer copy. I bought it for $110 at a used price. They guy said "If you like the meanie gritty stuff..buy it" I love that type of stuff. So I bought it I really like the finish greenish/blue with black edges. But really I like the whammy I like to play Randy Rhoads, Dragonforce, Megadeth, Metallica, and Mr. Big. But overall I like it a lot besides my "Cherry" Epiphone special edition SG.

It suites my style nice and meaty. I use a Marshall amp and I use a southern metal sound w/ amp. I also use delay and later a Vox wah pedal. It can play metal to classical (depends on the guitarist which I can.) I can release nice super tremlo pick/sweep and harmonics easily.

The finish is just cool no flaws at all. The bridge sucks tho

you can play it live I already have people are all awed about it....I prefer a Ibanez SV blue Prestige. It is pretty big I crash into walls and tables and nothing shows...I like it. I can depend on this guitar but I'm going to save up for an ibanez. I will always have a back up... either my ibanez or epiphone.

I wish it had 2 volume and 2 tone knobs and I have been playing for about a good couple months but I can already play Megadeth and some Hendrix, Zakk Wylde, Slash, Herman Li, and Syu.

This was my first guitar. I've been playing now for 15 years. It's basically an Explorer with a bolt-on neck and a non-locking tremolo. I *think* the guitar was built around 1987 or 1988, but no way to tell for sure. The body is made of plywood with a thin cap of what passes for maple. The neck and fretboard are also maple, with dot inlays. The stock pickups (two humbuckers, two volumes, one tone) could sound pretty harsh, but rolling the tone off helped quite a bit. The pickups were not dipped, so it could squeal pretty loud if you wanted it too. The tuners were typical cheap foreign made jobs. I learned a LOT about keeping a guitar in tune from this thing!

I play mostly Guns N' Roses and Aerosmith style hard rock, with a healthy dose of blues thrown in. It worked okay for the rock stuff but was lousy for blues. I played it through a Peavey Renown 2x12 combo amp. If you're looking for a sunburst Les Paul, this isn't it, but if you use a TON of distortion it can do okay. It sounded a LOT better than a bunch of entry-level electric guitars I've played, but for $225 (I bought it new) I expected more.

The setup when I got it was pretty bad. The strings were about a mile off the fretbaord. Years later, I disssembled the entire guitar and rebuilt it, and that fixed most of the setup problems. The biggest problems with this guitar were the cheapie tremolo system and a poorly cut nut. I put graphite and vaseline in the nut, which helped tuning stability tremendously. I put three springs in the tremolo, but over time adjusted it so I could pull up a half step as well as down two and a half steps. The tremolo did okay as long as you were using it for open strings. A whole step bend could also send it out of tune pretty easily.

Whatever its other flaws, this guitar was built like a tank. I finally killed mine when I put it through a wall (don't ask). I dropped it more times than I can count, even on the neck, and never had a problem. The finish was actually pretty decent. I played it pretty hard, and never saw any noticeable wear. i wouldn't gig with it, PERIOD, because of the tuning problems, but for a beginner guitar, it's pretty dang solid.

No clue. This is the only place I've ever found that admitted Memphis guitars exist.

I've been playing for 15 years. My two main guitars are a 1970 Les Paul Deluxe Gold Top (God, I love that thing!), and a left-handed Strat that I restrung to play right-handed. Overall, you can do a LOT worse for a beginner guitar, but for what I spent on it, I think you could do better (think a new Squier or Epiphone).

it's a basic explorer rip...two dimarzio's were in it when i got it...22 fret solid body with a decent sunburst. it's pretty heavy...not too shabby, it plays and feels well...and it's sportin' a hard-tail bridge. lame as all hell weak tuners that don't stay in tune. it's a fast neck and i really like it...great for playing those wanky ass HELLOWEEN style solos! hahaha. i must comment that it's a super cheap guitar, and i didn't expect a whole lot, that's why my comments seem a little better than they might. look man, don't buy this hunk if you're lookin' for dead serious ultimate tone. after all, who the HELL has heard of memphis?!

sounds decent because of the heavier body with the dimarzio's...otherwise...whoa. it'd be scary to find out what it would sound like with worse pickups. eek. i play some heavier shit on it...morbid angel, testament, exodus, thrash metal stuff...altho there's no floyd rose or anythin' like that, so you're kinda up a creek without a paddle if you wanna do anythin' with a whammy!
Action, Fit, & Finish

action is hella low...pickups too...i adjusted to suit my taste...it's a pretty fast guitar when set up properly..or at least THIS one is...most likely this is a one-off decent version of this guitar. i wouldn't expect much from this company tho...

hahaha. NO. i only have it to throw against the wall, or occasionally to pull out when i wanna make people laugh at it's ridiculousness. although it is one of those guitars that you laugh at, but can still be surprised with at times...it can play fast...i kinda think it's more the player than the guitar tho.

i've been playing for 11 years in numerous bands...i own usa kramers, jacksons, esp's, bcrichs, gibsons...the whole deal. i like mesa boogie for heavy gain, and some of the older randall equipment also. i play extremely heavy music, and this was really just a joke kinda guitar that seems to be alright for fuckin' around. it's not a big deal guitar. nothin' too fancy...it's an off-brand. don't expect big things, (like i didn't) and you might actually kinda like it. it's a guilty pleasure type thing. it's basically just TOOO metal for anythin'...more funny than anything else, really. i play it when i'm in a humorous mood and tryin' to wank out like i'm in a hair metal band. it's funny as all hell for that kinda stuff...if you're tryin' to be all serious with a MEMPHIS guitar, then whoa...that's funny shit.
