The 1995 Edition of the small body jumbo. Spruce top, extremely flamed maple back and sides, even visible on the glossy black finish ( but better viewed through the soundhole ). All the stars you can handle, along with bound headstock, grovers, moustache bridge ( more stars).
Sound

It sounds like a refined J-45. Fortunately the 1995 versions' dual pickguards are quite thin, and the sound is not damped as in some of the earlier versions. It has the body and scale length to suit my tastes. Martins are great, but there is something about the thud of a gibson that suits me. Besides that, I used to cringe everytime I took the D35 or old D18 out of the case, too valuable for my thud-loving senses.

I bought it used, adjusted the action and string type to taste. Someone had a Highlander dual P/U system installed, which gives it a great sound for recording. The black finish is..........unique.
A particularly well matched flamed maple back was included.

It is as well built as any Gibson product

C.S. is not their strong point, but to their credit, I got a quick answer from someone there when I inquired about this particular model prior to purchase

Been playing forever. I always liked the unique appearance of this guitar. Having the Highlander sealed the deal for me. It is alot more fun than the Ovation I have been using for recording. It is a relatively rare model, judging by how few I have seen for sale. I guess I could call Phil or Don if I lost it. I do believe Paul McCartney and Albert Lee play these also.........kinda good company in my book.
