Features : 9
Classical pre-CBS features like Alder body, maple neck with brazilian rosewood fretboard, Lindy Fralin single-coils, 3-tone sunburst in nitro-lacqueur finish (!), Wilkinson tremolo.
Bought in 2003.

Sound : 10
I was looking for a Fender vintage Strat sound, but combined with the ability to use it with different gain settings. The original pre-CBS Strats are not affordable and the prices are ridiculous, like the quality (important for me `cause it`s my money!!). The Morgaine
fits perfectly to my style of music: Americana-like rhythm work, warm and clean chords in every position of the selector switch. The pickups are well balanced so you don`t have the typical loss of tone between neck and bridge pickup. With a Fender tube amp I have everything I need! With a high gain amp the guitar sings as well, wonderful harmonics, rich bass - pure magic of tone!
This instrument is like a human voice to me: clear, softly, but agressive as well. (Wish I could play better...!)
I play the Mintage `61 nonstop for over a year and I found nothing to do better - everything is on board!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
As a Master Luthier Joerg Tandler does everything the customer wants
to have. I told him what I liked, he smiled and made it even better!
I`m curious about the perfect action (I prefer a higher action), the
intonation is perfect (just try any USA made Custom shop guitar, play an A-major/Dsus2/E-major power chord and you know what I mean!), the tremolo is still in tune after using, the finish is great - all in all a hundred per cent handmade guitar by a master luthier who loves craftsmenship.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The Morgaine Mintage `61 will stood the test of time: best selected
materials, perfect craftsmenship, perfect finish.
I`ll play every gig in the future with that guitar.

Customer Support : 10
What should be repaired? Fretwear is normal so Joerg will do it.
The finish will fade but this is normal (look into the mirror, are you the same guy you were when you were young...?!?).
If I had a question I call him and he will call back: this is customer service at its best!!!

Overall Rating : 10
I play the guitar for 26 years, but does that mean anything?
I have a Les Paul, Telecaster, Gretsch 6120, Gretsch Duo Jet, I like to watch my PRS Custom 22 - but I dont`t like the sound...!
The Morgaine is the guitar I`m getting old with, if it were stolen
or lost I would do anything to get a new one.
