This is a step up from my Kentucky 630 . All wood is definately the way to go. Mandolins seem to be more finicky than guitars. Every thing has to be just right to get a good sound.Nice sound but no Gibson.

The finish was good although the binding wasn't as detailed as I thought it should be for a mando that lists for over $1000.The action was not good. If you buy one of these Pac-rim mandos be prepared to set it up yourself or have someone do it for you. I see many of these mandos around and they are usually set out just like they came right out of the box.Once set up properly they are pretty nice. The spacing on the bridge on this mando was not cut properly.

This is a solid mando. It is built to last But I know I will out grow it as I did my Ky KM-630.

I have played guitar for over 25 years and the mando for 3 But all my guitars go neglected now .I also have a Fender FM-63 accoustic ele which I really like. I have several guitars also.I like this mando but I know it won't satisfy me as I continue to grow and become a better musician. This mando is very similar to the Ky KM-675 and the Michael Kelly Legacy. In my opinion it is hard to get a keeper mandolin for under $1500.I am very satisfied with guitars for WAY LESS.Every thing must be just right. It must be it's small size.I think it might have been better to just save and get a Gibson and cut out all the upgrading steps but then again I've learned alot about mandos and set-ups.After all the pleasure is in the journey not in getting there.
