It's a mosrite. The fret board is stamped V0284. 22 frets not count-
ing the one at the bridge. Adjustable pick-ups. Locking tuners.
Kluson keys. Mosrite pick-ups and tail piece with sway bar. Skinny
neck was fine til my fingers got fat. I bought a soft lined, semi
hard shell guitar fitted case seperate.

Sound : 9
I play southern rock, country, gospel with a small 1962 ampeg amp.
It has a small buzz close to the amp or with volume loud. The sound
is bright with this amp. I like the sound and action. I can make
the sound mellow with the three way switch or the tone knob.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I bought the guitar used about 25 years ago. Looks like the bridge
next to the keys has been replaced. Has a couple of finish or wood
cracks from the pick guard past the tail piece. Makes noise on one
of the pickup selections. Frets seem to be true.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It is a well made, solid guitar. Feels like it was made to be played
hard and long. The finish is almost to thick. The strap buttons are
screwed into the body very solid. I believe it's the only guitar I
will ever need.

I bought it used. As far as I know, the company is out of business.

Overall Rating : 10
I am very satisfied with it. If it were lost or stolen, I would cry.
I liked gibsons until I bought this mosrite. It seems to be a solid
well made guitar and with proper care, it should last a life time.

The guitar is a '66 Ventures Model in Sunburst with a rosewood fretboard. It has two strong Mosrite single coil pickups and a Mosley tail piece. It has a three way selector switch, 1 volume, 1 tone control and a mono imput jack which are all original. The body is the standard upside down "strat" shape but with no binding. The neck is short scale. It has original Kluson tuners with white buttons. It has the orginal low frets and the neck plays like a dream for a short scale. It came with a hardshell case.

Sound : 10
This guitar sounds great! The pickups are very strong and punchy. There is no way to acurately describe the tone on these babies cause theres nothing else like them! I play lead guitar in a Ventures/Surf group and the guitar sounds amazing. The only problem is the shortscale neck makes it imposible to play the upper frets so I can only use it on bass string songs or as a rythym guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I had to set the guitar up with 11's cause of the neck. I fiddled with the pickup height to taste and played with the bridge until perfect intonation was achieved. The neck needed no adjusting-straight as an arrow! The finish is wonderful despite a little checking. A guitar with so many coats of laquer is bound to have some. The tail peice chrome was perfect, no pitting whatsoever. The Klusons stick a little bit but look to damn cool to change. all other hardware was fine.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I don't gig with this guitar much but I never worry when I do. This guitar is built to last. The finish on the neck hasn't even faded yet and the and the electronics hardly hum when standing close to the amp. I wouldn't feel safe giging without a backup because the guitar guzzles strings like mad. It may be my style that contributes to the srings breaking because they tend to break only when I'm double picking. But despite all, this guitar is solid as a rock.

Mosrite is still around but I don't think they have a distributor in the States. Besides, I wouldn't bet on them having many parts for these becuse there not as popular as there big brother.

Overall Rating : 10
These guitars are fantastic for a number of styles. The Mark V handles surf, blues, British invasion, and county wonderfully. As I said before, it's more of a rythm guitar a than lead guitar (A lot like a Ric 325) but with an unmistakable sound. If you are looking for a truly unique vintage instrument, this is the way to go. P.S. And yes they do have "Built in Soul."
