Features : No Opinion
This is a metal bodied resonator guitar made by National in California in 1932. Two-piece body made of steel, bound maple neck has 19 frets and meets the body 2/3 of the way between the 11th and 12th frets. Slotted headstock, what's left of a "walnut" brown-to-creme sunburst finish.

Sound : 10
This is the loudest and punchiest National I have ever heard. It totally demolishes the Duolians I've had before. It can sound bright and brash or rich and velvety, a lot more tonal range than a Duolian. I mostly play this guitar in standard tuning although I sometimes tune it to open D and use it for slide.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar has held up perfectly. Aside from big portions of the finish flaking off, the neck is straight and the neck angle is perfect. The fretboard is very worn but does not hinder playing.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar has withstood decades of heavy playing, the finishes were always fragile on these guitars but the rest of it is solid enough to last another 80 years.

Overall Rating : 10
This is simply the most incredible sounding acoustic guitars I have ever owned. It is very difficult to go back to playing regular acoustic guitar after experiencing the huge power and dynamic and tonal range of this instrument. Does everything a Duolian can do, and a whole lot more. I have played many other vintage Nationals and this one stands out as one of the loudest and most powerful I have ever heard.
