Features : 5
super strat with humbucker and two singlecoils. basically the neuabauer basic super-strat.

Sound : 4
the biggest dissapointment. for a custom order its freaking annoying and the sound has no character at all. every fender custom shop sounds better/fuller/richer.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
the setup was pretty poor for a pro luthier. i think his workers did it because i cant imagine a pro luthier is doing such a soso-setup. i have heard a lot of things about his repairs - a lot of things his employees are doing is pretty bad.

Reliability/Durability : 5
the hardware looks and feels cheap. wood and finish is ok. honestly for a custom made guitar i have expected much more! every fender custom shop guitar is far better and maybe even cheaper.

Customer Support : 4
helpful and friendly before you have paid, after warranty they will do it but with an unfriendly touch.

Overall Rating : 3
all in all it was a big mistake! overpriced and no good service for a custom order... nothing more to say - big dissapointment!
i have guitars from j??rg tandler and i have to say there is no comparison the quality of neubauer is not really good for that price. i will never ever buy something from this factory!!!

This guitar was custom-made for me after my specifications in 2001 by Neubauer Guitars in Vienna, Austria. It is a modern Strat with a one-piece alder body and a highly figured flamed maple top, beautiful birdseye maple neck with a Strat headstock, Rio rosewood fingerboard with 22 Dunlop 6100 frets, 2 Humbuckers (Seymour Duncan '59 in the neck, Custom Custom in the bridge position), black hardware like Gotoh tuners, Schaller Floyd Rose and safety pins. It features a 3-way toggle switch and just a push/pull Volume pot so I can split the neck pickup.
It has a satin finish on the neck and a dark red finish on the body.
The guitar came with a Neubauer Guitars gigbag. I give it an 8 not because I don't like the features 100%, but I liked it to be a bit more minimalistic (no tone knob, 5-way switch..)

Awesome! This is exactly what I was looking for. Of course, I didn't know exactly before how this guitar would turn out, although I spoke with Mr. Neubauer for hours about different tone woods, pickups, construction etc., but it turned out great, way better than I expected it, I'm totally happy with it.
I play (hard) rock mostly, from 80's stuff (George Lynch, Van Halen) to instrumental music (Satriani, Eric Johnson,..), and I can get the creamy, thick sound from the bridge PU as well as the juicy, bell-like (hard to describe!) sound from the splitted neck PU or the singing neck humbucker sound. I'm using it through my Engl Savage 120 or my modded JCM 800 most of the time.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The setup was perfect; I wanted a low and fast action, and that's what I got.
I had the free service that all custom guitar buyers get (fret job, adjustment of intonation and action) done on my guitar about one year after I got it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is my main guitar live and in the studio, and I know that I can depend on it. I always have a backup guitar live, but so far, I have never needed it.
It has already seen some use & abuse (besides a lot of playing: my bass player running into me & my guitar live, beer spills..), and it definitely seems to be reliable and durable.

Customer Support : 10
I've been at the Custom Shop quite often during the planning and building process, and I was treated very friendly all the time; Mr. Neubauer and his team were very helpful and always took the time to answer my questions on the phone and in the Shop.
The warranty is 3 years.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for more than 20 years now, and own or have owned everything from Fender to Gibson, Charvel, Ibanez and G&L; of more than 20 guitars I have kept 4.

This is one of the, if not the, sweetest sounding guitar I have ever played; the playability is even better than I expected it to be. The quality is top-notch, and the wood is the best you can get (air-dried for the last 10 - 40 years, not "force dried to death" within 2 days like the wood that is used on all the mass-produced guitars).

Now I have the sound I always wanted, and I'm sure this will not be my last Neubauer Guitars Custom Shop guitar - I already have some new ideas in my head :-)
