standard les paul features. selected mahogany and components, etc. but what makes me crazy is how can a product with all those selected parts sound so cheap. but see below...

Sound : 3
very dissapointing - sounds nothing of a good les paul in my opinion. my reissues are way better and have more mojo than this one. i could write for hours about my feel - in the end you can??t change a thing because you think ok (maybe) he has done the best thing he could. again my les paul custom shop reissues are way better sounding and if you ever had a real (original) les paul in your hands you just can laugh about this one which isn??t cheap anyway. well, i actually can not understand the other rating.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
was ok. but you should expect that from a custom made instrument i think. the finish and the overall looks are a bit cheapo lookin in comparison to a vos les paul.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
well yeah i think you can depend on it but it stays in its case most of the time.

Customer Support : 5
all in all it is ok. mr.neubauer himself is pretty nice but it does not matter in the end when the final product is nothing of that special even when the components are selected (whatever that means...) - again no mojo here...

Overall Rating : 3
I??ve been playing my whole life - 30years now. I have to say that this guitar is not worth the cash i know that sounds hard but honestly it is the fact. I have Historic LPs - 58 and 59 Reissues and man they sound much better and to me they have Mojo which the Neubauer doesn??t have. Sad but true the biggest dissaspointment is the fact that i can never sell this guitar for that price because no one cares about a 2nd hand custom instrument. If it were stolen i definately wouldnt buy another guitar.

This Les Paul was handmade in 2003, in Andreas Neubauer's Custom Shop in Vienna. It is modeled after a '59 Les Paul, with a one-piece Honduras mahogany back from the 50's (how much more authentic can you get?), a highly figured maple top (sunburst finish), a mahogany neck ('59 shape with the long neck tenon), Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, ABR-1 bridge, Custom-wound PAFs, bumble bee capacitors.

I mostly play blues and hard rock with this guitar, with some jazzy stuff thrown in here and there. I am using this guitar through old Marshalls (1969 non-master volume, 1978 JMP) and my Fender Bassman.

I was searching for an old '59 Les Paul, but couldn't find one in the right condition or at the right price - right now, the prices are ridiculously high. The Gibson Historic Collection/Reissue Les Pauls are quite nice, but nothing compared to the real deal, especially when you've played some of the originals. So I tried to find another option - getting one made after the original specs, with old tonewood. I think this is one of the reasons why the Gibson reissues can't keep up with the original, they are using cheaper and new mahogany which to my knowledge is not air-dried, especially not for decades like in my Neubauer Les Paul.

I have played some Les Pauls from the late 50's, and for a new guitar, I think you can't get any closer to the real deal. This guitar has lots of sustain (I guess due to its light weight), and I can get that "sweet attack" out of it.

The guitar was set up to my liking; the finish was immaculate, as was the construction and overall workmanship. It's perfect in every detail. And it plays like butter!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I mostly play this guitar at home or at jam sessions with friends, and as expected I never had a problem with it, it's totally reliable. I do care a lot about it though, I always wipe the strings and the finish after playing it.

Customer Support : 10
I have been to the Neubauer custom shop a few times before ordering the guitar, and Andreas took a lot of time to talk with me about the features I wanted and suggested some options. He also had some stories to tell about his time at the Gibson factory in Nashville where he was invited to learn about the manufacturing and repairing of Gibson guitars. Now, Neubauer Guitars is the only official Repair Shop for Gibson in Austria and Hungary.

I was and am always treated super-friendly, and I brought the guitar back for free servicing about 1 year after I bought it.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for almost 30 years, and gone through a lot of guitars and amps, vintage and new. I have a collection of about 10 guitars (60's Strat and Tele, Gretsch, PRS, 70's LP Custom), but this is my main guitar. I am so connected to it, it's almost a part of me.

This guitar puts every new(er) Gibson to shame. I got even more than I expected from this custom made guitar, and it sounds and plays better than I could have dreamed of. I can't tell you how happy I am!
