If you haven't tried a Northwood guitar you should. They are made in Canada by John McQuarrie. I have owned many different guitars some top of the line built by the best luthiers around. The Northwood in quality of construction and sound is as good as any that I have owned or played, some guitars much more expensive than a Northwood. The MJ-60 is mini-jumbo with mahogany back and sides and englemann top. This is the "basic model" with no shiny stuff, but still very attractive.

This is one of the best sounding guitars I have ever put my fingers on. Full, rich with loads of resonance. The base is deep but without the "boom" a lot of guitars like this have, excellant midrange and balanced tone. Rosewood guitars have always been a favorite of mine but this mahogany MJ will steal your heart. It is a fantastic flat picking guitar and not to shabby at fingerpicking either.

Northwood guitars have the most comfortably neck of any guitar that I have played. The action was set up perfect, no buzzes or any problems at all. The mahogany back and sides are gorgeous and the englemann top has nice tight grain. The finish was flawless and inside the guitar not a drop of glue smeared anywhere. Top notch work.

I have only had the Northwood for a short time but the quality of construction is so good that I have no doubt it will last longer than I will.

I have only asked MR McQuarrie a couple questions that he answered quickly and very professionally.

I have been playing for about twenty years and this is the only guitar I have owned that I don't think I will ever be tempted to trade off. A KEEPER!
