evh ernie ball style black finished basswood body. real flame maple top. beautiful glossy finish. fully bound body. satin finish maple neck and fretboard, bolted on. my first guitar neck that is not gloss finish. it seems to collect dirt. six strings through body and six through six saddle bridge. sealed grover style tuners. 22 frets. one volume control, no tone-that what the amp is for. that's all i need. 2 "direct mounted" olp hb pups. no covers. black and white "zebra" style. three way switch to toggle between them. not much difference in the sound between them so i run the center position. 25.5" scale. 1 7/8" at the nut. eaiser to play than a ric for ham handed strummer. cut away body style makes reaching the upper frets easy. made in china in 2006 i think.

bought to play beatles and byrds. use crate v32 class a tube amp at home(recent purchase at auction). use orig.pod for effects(mostly chorus). recently got rid of a flextone xl (too heavy, back bad). use a peavey 200h bass head with 2 x 15 cab for fri.nite jams at neighbor's studio.(picked up cheap on auction-leave in studio). much quieter than my kalamazoo kg2 with single coils. really silent. not the lushest 12 string out there, but for $180 delivered you can't expect a ric sound.

right out of the box it was set up nicely. there were 2 loose screws attached to the magnets of the pups. they did not come from this guitar though. one b string sometimes pops out of the nut. the nut might need to be cut deeper, although it looks normal. everything else is perfectly finished. cheap strings tarnished easily. must replace. fret ends protrude slightly prob.will have filed or hammered.

Reliability/Durability : 10
i am not a giging player, just a hobbyist. i play in a garage and my living room on the weekends. i have a 40 year old vox super lynx deluxe that looks new. i expect this to last as well. it stays in tune. i can't say that about my nephew's squire strat or other squire guitars i have played at a local shop.

recently started playing after 20 year hiatus. first new guitar purchased since 1968, and my grandfather paid for that. kalamazoo rec.as gift for moving a old friend 20 years ago. epi. ft-170 acoustic purchased from a hitchiker on rt. 80 20 years ago also. love that 12 string gangle and the flame maple top with white bonding. love the simple controls. hate that it is neck heavy because of twelve tuners and the larger headstock to hold them.
compared to rics, luna, schecter, dean boca and many acoustic 12's. could not find a strat 12 in stores. i eventually choose this by price and looks. did not even play or see. do not regret choice.

Just the facts, no tone control, 3 way switch, two humbuckers. Very simple and plan guitar.

Sound : 10
Love it I play primarily country with some southern rock. It covers this well. Bright sound.

I believe it was set up by the chain store. I has no buzzing and can be played anywhere on neck. It does get a little muddy if you capo it, but overall great

Don't know yet, seems to be very solid

Haven't dealt with them yet

For the price, you can go wrong. It has went from being a backup instrument on certain songs to becoming a mainstay.

I purchased this guitar new in December 2004 at a large chain store. It looks to be identical to the MM1 except with six extra strings-Basswood body, flame maple veneer on the top, two humbuckers, and one volume knob. Nice maple neck, with separate maple fingerboard, finished in satin. Regular fixed bridge(would you really want a whammy bar on a twelve string?), decent sealed tuners, and jumbo frets.

Sound : 4
I bought this guitar to use for lush chordal backing tracks on recording projects, and of course to play Byrds tunes. I use it with a D.I. box or into a blackface Fender Showman. As with most twelve string electrics, a compressor is your friend, and reverb is mandatory. The guitar's factory humbuckers are weak and muddy sounding, and there are no tone knobs to try and adjust any of this out. The only good sound I can find is by using both pickups. I think a set of aftermarket pu's will be in order soon.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The factory set up was virtually unplayable. The nut was notched just deep enough to space the strings. The frets had to be leveled, and some of the fret ends were protruding out of the edge of the fingerboard and had to be filed. This could be a symptom of lack of humidity, or it could be a production flaw. All of these concerns made it possible for me to get a smokin' deal, and they were fixed after about an hour on my bench. Pickup adjustment is pretty subjective-it's easliy set by the end user to suit his taste. The fit and finish of the rest of the guitar is really quite good. The finish is level and glossy, there are no weird or unsightly gaps, no weird routing, I was impressed with everything but what was mentioned above, and that stuff is all a relatively easy fix.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I don't think there are any obvious durability issues. I'm not scared of the guitar. I don't gig on electric anymore, but I'd use this if I did.

I do my own maintenance and repair, and I bought it with issues. I never even asked about the warranty.

I have been playing for 25 years, and I usually have about 35 fretted instruments in my arsenal, give or take. I used to own a Rickenbacker 360/12, which was a fantastic sounding guitar, and evil to play. It was a skinny-necked(1 5/8") tool of the devil. When I decided to get back into the electric 12 game, a wider nut was a must, and this guitar is spaced 1 3/4", which is acceptable. I like this guitar alright, and I think with a little tweek here and there, I can make it do what I want it to with minimal cash outlay. These are usually not purchased as a primary instrument, and it seems silly to invest $1000.00+ for such limited use. Even with a decent set of pickups, and the case I bought for it, I'll come in under 4 bills. I can live with that. I do wish it had a tone knob(and it may get one- hey, I've got a drill...).
