Solid top guitar. I think it was made in 2001 or 2002 in Indonesia. It is not very flashy. The strings that came with it may have been big enough to produce a big sound in a guitar show room, but may not be the right size for actual use. No bag, strap, etc.

Sound : 8
I play mostly folksy stuff and it sounds fine for it. I don't use amplification. I have tried a variety of string sizes (after removing the original set) and have been satisfied with the sound each time. It takes a capo well, too.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
It seems to be pretty well put together. Nothing has fallen off! There is the odd glue smudge (not a bead, just a smudge) when looking inside. The action is suitable. It stays in tune.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This thing is built like a tank. It has never let me down at home or on travel. I think I would consider this a decent backup if the gig guitar pooped out. The finish is in fine shape. Looks more expensive than it is.

Never had to deal with the Olympia/Tacoma people.

Overall Rating : 8
This was my first guitar. I did some research and knew I wanted to buy a solid top guitar, but I had no brand loyalty. I also knew I had a limited budget, so I shopped around. I tried this Olympia, Mitchells, Takamines, Fenders (and others), and, for comparison, Martins and Tacomas (though I knew I was not ready, I wanted to know if I could tell -- to my as yet untrained ears -- what I was giving up). I kind of wish I had asked to have the thing sold strap ready. As it is, I don't use one today and don't feel like tinkering with it today.

It is no Martin or Taylor or Tacoma. It is what it is: a very well built solid top guitar that provides good value for the money, especially for the beginner.

I recently had a happy set of circumstances allow me to upgrade, which I did to a Martin D-16RGT. This Olympia is no Martin, but I like taking with me when I travel to some places or if little nieces or nephews are going to rough-housing nearby. If it were stolen or lost, I would think about replacing it with the same model...but then again, I still don't have a lot of brand loyalty. It's a good value and deserves a look.

2002-2003 manufactured in Indonesia. Solid top dreadnaught with no electronics. It has the Tacoma style bridge and tuners that say Tacoma on them (for whatever that is worth). The tuners are smooth and tune just fine. Strangely, it has a neck that is close to my Epiphone Les Paul which is modeled after the slim/taper 59' LP neck. It came with nothing but a receipt.

Sound : 10
It has a decent "not too bright" tone and it will create a good medium volume. This is not a concert guitar so don't expect a booming tone. There are buzzes and such, so no Townsend arm swings. It was the best tone, and volume/sustain for the price. Trust me. If you want to strum and sing this is a the best cheap acoustic for you.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
A decent medium action that won't hurt your fingers too much. There are some minor flaws here and there but who cares on a guitar this cheap. No giant glue gobs or any other obvious problems. If you want to play leads or more intricate guitar I would save up another $200 and get a guitar with a better action and sustain.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Seems fine. I've had it a few days and it feels sturdy. I'm sure the finish would wear over time since it is an inexpensive guitar. It will take a strap just fine.

First let me say that I'm a total bastard when it comes to gear. Most products are not worth a penny. I play an modded Epiphone LP Goldtop with Duncan Antiquity pickups and Japanese tuners. It is the best guitar I have owned (cost and funtionality) and I have owned alot. I've been playing for 15 years. This is my first steel six string I have actually bought. I went through at least 10 different $300 and below acoustics. I played all applicable Yamaha, Takamine, Mitchell, and Olympia guitars that the Guitar Center had. I was first going to get a Takamine G-230, but it did not compare to this model. This was the fullest sounding, best playing acoustic in it's price range. If it were stolen I would probably go back and get the same model. If you buy it from a big retailer make sure you get a lower priced ad from online and bring it in. This guitar was $299 and I got it down to $242. I have teched alot of bands here in LA and I would say that this guitar would be the minimum needed to play a small acoustic gig and get by. This is why I bought it.

2002 Olympia OD-10S. Made in indonesia by Tacoma Guitars. This is a fairly standard dreadnaught style guitar with the normal number of frets. This model comes with a solid spruce top and laminated mahogany back and sides a medium thickness gloss finish coveres the eithre body and neck. The guitar is nicely bound and has some good appointments for a guitar in its price range including a nice abalone sound hole rosette and the Tacoma tone shaped bridge. The guitar comes with a truss rod adjustment tool and not to much else, but in the price range that is standard. I'm giving it a 6 ... it's good for the price but it's not in the same class as Tacoma's or Taylors proper.

Sound : 7
I play mostly rythym acoustic, think Disarm and Wish You Were Here. I wanted something that I could drive and would hold up to agressive strumming withough getting too muddy. The sound of the Olympia is good without being great, fairly balanced across the spectrum. The sound is a bit thin when you compare it to higher end martins and taylors, but in my opinion sounds much better than an entry level Martin, the X series. I'll give it a 7 here ... it sounds better than most stuff in it's price range, but it no singer.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The guitar was set up fairy well from the factory, but the bookmarking on the top of the guitar left something to be desired. The one gripe I noticed was that restringing is a bit of a pain due to the fact that the ends of the strings had to be pushed down through the bridge with a bit of force. This may just be part of the desige, but I think perhaps the holes were driled a bit too small, but nothing that can not be dealt with. Overall a well put togther guitar and I will give it a 7. Better than most guitars in it's price range for sure.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Having not had a chance to gig with the guitar yet, I am going to leave this one open. It certaily seems solid and the fit and finish seem to suggest a good level of quality. It's not something I expect to last for 50 years necessarily, but should be a good sturdy guitar for a goow long while.

Havent had to deal with them, so I will leave it open as well. But I will say this, there was no warranty informaton with the guitar (which may have had something to do with where I bought it) and their website was fairly lacking. There is no specific information that I can find on the tacoma website relating to their olympia guitars.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing onand off for about 11 years so I have some small degree of skill, but not all that much :) I purchased this guitar in liew of what I really want (Taylor Jumbo 6 String) but cant afford. I thought about getting an entry level Taylor or Tacoma Dreadnaught (being cheaper than jumbos) but decided to go with something more affordable for the time being. I see this as being somethng to grow my skills on for a few years and then to keep as a second guitar. Overall this a good guitar and for the price I would recommed it to anybody looking for a solid guitar without spending $600 plus dollars. Overall I give it a 7.

I got this guitar at D-Rocks in Omaha Nebraska. It is a very very nice guitar. I play it every day. This guitar has 20 frets, and 6 strings. It came with a free gig-bag, and a strap so you can play standing up.

Sound : 10
The sound is just GREAT! I love it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar is one of the best I have ever played. I am very impressed. No flaws that I could see at all!

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar will easily last me the rest of my life with proper care, and I intend to keep it forever. I can depend on this guitar any day.

I'd give this a 10 as an overall rating.
