I don't know when this guitar was made, but would guess 1997 or 1998. I have reads that it is made in Korea, as a cheaper alternative to the more expensive plain Tahomas. It has 20 frets, with beautiful abalone inlays. (At least I think they're abalone. They sure look like abalone on other guitars. If it's fake, they did a darn good job.) It's a simple acoustic, not cutaway, with a laminated top. The back and sides are ash, I believe, and wonderful. They are absolutely gorgeous. The top, on the other hand, is not that pretty, I think it's spruce. It has a plain black pickguard, and fake inlay. It is a dreadnought style, with a beautiful Tacoma style bridge. The tuners are Gotoh, I think, silver, and fairly effective. they are not too sensitive, which I like a lot. It's a fairly thin neck for a plain acoustic. The neck is.... I really don't know. It looks mahogany. I got nothing with it when I bought it. It was sold with Elixir strings, but soon enough I changed them for special-coated D'addarios which are sick.

I like to play a lot of jazz and blues, which unfortunately does not fit this guitar all that well. I love this guild acoustic/electric for that, but this guitar is quite good for open chords, and better than your average dreadnought-style for bar chords, since I changed the strngs. It is a very "twangy" guitar sound, but it is subtle and warm when you are playing open chords. It sounds pretty good on bends, but hammerons get lost. Sliding is alright too. It isn't very varied in its tone.

The action was well set. Low enough for a beginner, especially one with weak or stubby fingers.
A problem was that when I bought it, the plug thingies in the bridge (I forget what they're called) were too tight, and I had to use needlenose pliers to get them out. now they look slightly mutilated, and there is a tiny crack in the bridge. Also, there is a tiny crack where the neck meets the body. But thatis probably the result of wear and tear. I travel with it, and my little brother has banged it into a table before. :)

This thing is built solid. Everything is SOLID! If I were more careful with this thing it would be in factory condition.

I've been playing for four years. I have a Hamer electric and a Peavey amp as well. I use a kickbutt Seiko tuner.
I would buy an original Guild guitar If this one was stolen or lost. It's a good guitar for a beginner, but I want a little more style and substance.
I don't use this guitar for anything live, but it is a nice guitar. I use my electric for a live performance, and even if this one was electric I still wouldn't use it live.
