Made in 04" in China. 14 Frets, Laminated Top. Spruce Top, Mahogany back, sides and neck. Turnersseem good, no name on them. No included eccessories. I paid $169.00 for it @ Guitar Center in Fountain Valley Ca. After purchasing a Mithell and returning it. I just did not like that guitar.

Sound : 7
Sounds good. Overall I am enjoying it. It does not sound as good as my Tacoma DM-9, but for less then 200 bones it is great.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Action is ok. I had my DM-9 Set up before I even touched it so when I compare I want to have work done to this one too. It will due untill I have the time to work on it. It is a little slow low on the neck.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Seems good. Too early to know. Feel and looks sturdy.

Customer Support : 7
So far they have taken good care of me at the Guitar Center in Fountain Valley.

Overall Rating : 8
Over I am very happy with this guitar. I would recoment it for a starter or a travel guitar.

This acoustic dread was made in Indonesia in 2002, presumably set up by Tacoma. Laminated spruce top, laminated mahongany sides and back. Gloss finish everywhere. Rosewood fretboard, 14 frets to the body. Seems to have good Gotoh tuners (inscribed with Tacoma name). The neck has a low oval profile. Not sure about factory strings. Have switched them out to D'Addario phospher bronze lights. No case included. I'm giving it an "8" for features, not that it has many to speak of, but the tuners are quality and the high gloss finish along with what seems to be standard Tacoma parts (bridge, nut, etc.) all seem to be good quality.

Sound : 8
For a $200 guitar, the highs are pretty bright, the basses are reasonably deep and the sustain is not bad. I am playing only unplugged. Frankly, for an under $500 guitar, it's loud and clear with decent sustain.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action seemed a bit high from the store, but with new light strings, it seems just fine. An Allen wrench is included for neck adjustment if necessary. The guitar looks terrific, though there are a couple of finish flaws (chip on the neck binding, gloss bubble at the edge of the soundhole which could be sanded down if I wanted to bother). The tuning machines seem very good, and the guitar stays in tune very well.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Hard to know. I've had it for six months and played it an average of an hour per day. I've played it only at home and at my teacher's. The finish seems thick and hard and presumably will last. The guitar is not light and feels quite sturdy. One strap button, have not used a strap. It seems very durable.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never tried.

I started playing 40 years ago as a kid. I stopped playing regularly about 25 years ago and generally had a junky guitar around to doodle with in the ensuing years. About six months ago I decided to start taking lessons and try to actually learn how to pay. My last crummy guitar had died a few years ago. I liked the sound, heft and finish on this guitar at the Guitar Center; I knew Tacoma was a reliable manufacturer and I was looking not to spend much on what was pretty much a student guitar. I'm quite happy with the guitar. If it was lost or stolen I'd probably upgrade to a simple, low end solid wood Taylor or Larrivee -- not because I don't like the Olympia, but just because I now have enough confidence in intention to continue playing to upgrade a bit. Bottom line is that this is a very, very good $200 guitar. It sounds good, it looks good, it plays fairly easily and it seems quite durable.

I think it is made in Korea. Laminated top it seems. SImple acoustic, but sounds nice. Tuners hold well. Replace the factory strings.

Sound : 8
Sounds brights with the necessary depth. I don't play much, but it pleases me when I do. No buzzing in the strings.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Guitar seems set up fine. Action just fine. I don't know enough to know otherwise, but it ranks up there with the other acoustics I played. I like it better than the cheap Ovations.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I think it will take just fine to live playing if you install a pickup. Finish is bright. Seems dependable.

I bought it through a great music store, Instrumental Music in Thousand Oaks, CA. No problems with them at all.

Overall Rating : 9
I haven't played guitar much, used to play bass. However, this guitar seems built to be a hand-me-down to the kids. If it were stolen I would replace it with a higher end Olympia model.
