Bought used, my gorgeous Parker NiteFly NFV8 was built in 1998, in the glorious USA. You already know all the features, mine has a sunburst mahogany body, made out of a single piece of wood.

Sound : 10
I play Jazz, Fusion, Rock and Blues and this guitar suits them all in a way never heard before. The neck pickup is 100% Jazz no doubt about it, you can really play old style jazz and compete with ES175s, the combination of the two Humbuckers should resemble a single coil but the tone is much darker although you csn play Rock and Blues with it, the bridge is good when you want to distort.
Of course you have the piezo, do not expect to sound like a big acoustic guitar but the sound is very nice and you can mix it with the passive Humbuckers to produce novel and fresh sounds.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action the best I ever tried, your speed, accuracy and cleanliness will double with this marvel of a neck.
The guitar has no flaws whatsoever, it's perfect!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Will last for VERY long.
Always have a backup if you are a pro.

Never had the need to contact them.

I live in Italy and have been playing for more than 20 years, I am still young and willing to play forever. My Parker will stay with me for long.

Great features, the sperzel's were new to me, I thought sucked at first, but the got used to them and liked them better than the original tuners. You can select between magenetic or piezo or both, which i liked. The possibilities are endless

Sound : 10
Amazing sound, like nothing else, I play rock to clean (like smashing pumpkins)and whether i want heavy metal or clean guitar i switch between piezo, magnetic or both til i find something i like. No extra noise for me.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
My guitar was sorta of a metallic black and it chipped in 2 places about, and the strap came loose and crashed to my hardwood floor several times and sustained no damage, infact all my chips were from walking around the house with it on me and banging it against doorways by accident.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I can rely on this baby, people say they cant, are they crazy? I would trust my life into this guitar, i would gig without a backup defintaly, and if i did have a back up, i would be another one of these.

The NFV8 is new for 1999, as all Parkers it was made in USA, 22 jumbo frets, ash body, mahagony TurboTone bolt-on neck, controls: mag volume, piezo volume, mag tone, 3 way selector, mag & piezo combo or mag or piezo separate control, stereo/mono switch; pickup config: h/h/piezo, dual custom wound DiMarzio humbuckers, Fishman active piezo (mags are passive), finish is Parker's high gloss black with black pickguard, body style... its a Parker, bridge is Parker free-floating spring vibrato, locking Sperzel tuners. Neck is 25 1/2" scale, that Parker ultra fast neck. Included was gig bag, stereo cord, adjustment tools and handbook.

I play classic rock, blues, contemporary Christian praise, and some country. It can manage beautifully sounds to accomodate all these styles. I play it thru a Line 6 AX2 212 OR a Line 6 Pod using a Crate BX50 bass amp for monitor. Guitar is not noisy on any setting, it has a rich full sound, the mahagony neck tends to darken the bass notes some, but it can be adjusted out with your amp if that doesn't suit you. The neck bucker reminds me of a semi-hollowbody Gibson, the bridge bucker alone is reminiscent of a Les Paul lead setting, the middle position, both buckers coil split is Parkers version of the single coil sound, not quite as bright as a Strat but still has that bell like sound, piezo by itself won't replace your jumbo acoustic but is certainly pleasing on its own but really adds to the mags when run together.Haven't discovered any dislikes YET!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The finish is absolutely flawless, although the black will be a pain to maintain. It was setup perfect which I understand is not normal for the NiteFlys. Take my advice, if you have your heart set on a NiteFly pass on the basswood neck ones and get a mahagony neck one (NFV5,6 & 8)... the basswood necks are often flawed from my personal experience in testing Parkers available locally. Came home with a NFV4 trying to adjust fret buzz out with low action setup, one week later, gave up, returned guitar to dealer, he says he will send back to factory, neck is smurfed.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Given past experience with my Fly Deluxe, I would say Parkers are extremely reliable and durable. After almost a year with the deluxe aside from scratches on finish from playing (FDV has no pickguard) couldn't tell mine from new one. Expect the same from the NiteFly. Just be sure that you have a hot battery in it before you set out for the gig or else your piezo will croak, bummer... also if you leave it plugged up the next time you go to play you will find dead battery.

This is where Parker falls on its face... talking to human being @Korg seems to be a impossibility (as least on Fridays) and have been told by other dealers if I did get a human not to expect friendly response, didn't get a chance to judge for myself just got answering machine with no way to leave message. Ans. mach suggested I check out the web site www.korg.com... GUESS WHAT!! NO mention of a Parker guitar anywhere on site. I sincerely hope that I have no problem my local dealer can't handle for me. He's great but I worry about Korg. Will rate a 3 giving them the benefit of a doubt that my attempts to reach today were a fluke.

Have been playing for 26 years, I have owned and tried most all of the guitars around... if this guitar were stolen I would replace it if I did not go to jail for killing the sucker that stole it. The thing I love the most is the fast neck and the Sperzel tuners and being able to mix the piezo and mag pickups. On the AX2 amp I have an aux input to run piezo thru separately which gives you a great stereo effect. I thought I had the perfect setup with the AX2 & FDV, but have found that the circuitry on the NFV8 sounds much better than the FDV's thru the AX2, maybe something about the AX2 being a digital amp. After owning the FDV I didn't look at anything other than a Parker.
