Just an update -- 5 years later. I still think this may be the best playing and sounding electric I've played, much less owned. However, it is now apparent to me that the tuner in the pickup ring could not have been factory-installed. Once I popped the control cavity open, it was evident this was not PRS wiring!
That said, I looooove this guitar. IF I were to trade it for another, it would have to be another Custom 22 semihollow that was even prettier, sounded just as good, and had birds. Not likely for me.
Happy hunting!

1994, quilt 10-top on mahogany (Gretsch orange), NO push-pull, Volume and Tone + 3-way switch, PRS stop tail, moons, etc. Key ingredients here are the dragon bass pickups, three-way switching without tap, and the semi-hollow body option. (This guitar also has a very rare factory-installed pickup surround digital tuner that I'm crazy about: It works!) Oh, yes, of course, there is the matter of PRS's exceptional wood selection, design, and craftsmanship.Ten just doesn't go high enough!

This is one fine, fine, fine guitar. I purchased it used via e-bay and couldn't be happier. It has me thinking about selling a lot of stuff . Yes, of course, there are things it will not do, but generally speaking, they are not things I do much ... like twang. My guess is that a better guitarist than I could even wring some of those sounds from it. This is a pure tone machine that offers tremendous clarity. Notes just bloom from this axe. I don't know a better way to describe it. I play with fingers, pick, and pick&fingers and it all sounds tremendous.

It's a 1994 PRS from the days before the BIG factory. Fit and finish set the standard. The guitar came fairly well set up but I'm a set-up freak, so I set the guitar completely to PRS factory specs and WOW! It really could not be better. This guitar is nearly as much fun to play unplugged as plugged. I'm a big believer that solidbodies should first be auditioned unplugged. This is a very resonant instrument. I'm sure that's where that "bloom" in its sound originates. I'm a guitar junkie and would hate to part with any of mine, but for a desert island rig, I couldn't imagine much more fun that this guitar, my Princeton Reverb and a source of 110V AC!

This guitar was played for 7 years before I got it and it' has a few dings to show for it. I'm 53 and I've got some dings too! We are both better for the experience. You could make a living with this guitar for years and years and not have to worry about it.

I've been playing close to 30 years. I've had an American Standard Strat (1994 40th Anniversary), 1979 LP Custom, 1976 Byrdland, Verri Custom archtop, Heritage H-150, Martin Custom J-40, Fender D'Aquisto Elite, a couple of Ovations, Takamine, Yamaha, etc. This guitar is the pinnacle of its type. Period. New prices for PRS (and lots of other brands) are completely goofy. However, I think I got a fair value for my money and it would take a lot more to buy it from me. Anyone who tries to steal or damage it is just achin' for a fight!
