'super strat' style double cut away body with double humbucker pick ups with three way selector, volume and tone controls, PRS non locking trem system, PRS tuners, fat neck, 22 frets with attractive cresent moon inlays and double trussed through neck.

The only downside is a rather naff looking camoflarge finish, oneday I will pluck up the courage to have it custom painted, but not until the warranty expires.

I brought this a few weeks ago, and I'm still buzzing about it, a PRS for under ?300!! There must be a catch. No catch my friend, just fantastic value for money. I play in a 70's style classic rock band with heavy acid influences (Think Deep Purple jmming with Hawkwind) and have been running it straight into a Laney TF300 combo (no fx). Compared to my other two guitars (a De Almond M-65 - heavily rebuilt and an old Westone Thunder 1A) this is a beast. It screams and wails even at low volumes with very little buzz or other noise. There is lots of feedback, but in my band feedback is good and when controlled with the trem leads to lots of nice space noises. The tone on the bridge pick up is clean and crisp and on the neck fat and full. The sustain is near perfect and when pushed she gives a real bark. It doesn't quite match my De Almond in the clean and strummy stakes, but I didn't buy this guitar for that sort of sound anyway.

I asked the shop to do a quick set up before I took it away, the verdict was it didn't need one!! The instrument is well made and holds its tune well even after a spell of gratuatous trem abuse. In short it is all you would expect from a PRS.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have only done two gigs and three rehearsals with it, but so far it has taken every thing I have thrown at it with ease and it seams sold enough for me not to have any worries. Yes the strap buttons are solid and I feel I can depend on it. As for gigging without a back up. I NEVER gig with out a back up.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The guitar came with a 2 year shop warranty, but touch wood I have not had to use it yet.

I've been playing for 20 years and have got through a lot of guitars in my time. Currently I have three electrics in use, including this one (see above). I have always lusted after a PRS but until the SE range was released they were always way outside this hippy's price range. However before purchase I compared it to a number of other instruments including a spikey Peavy thing, a Rock Candy Les Paul, A Schecter and a Maverick and the bottom line is this beat them hands down as apart from the crap looking camo finish (see below) this guitar is all I ask for and more. I would recommend this instrument to anyone.

Solid basswood double cutaway body (top horn slightly longer than the bottom), cool camoflage finish, 22 fret mahogany neck w/rosewood fretboard, wide-fat like neck carve, abalone moon inlays, no pickguard, 2 humbucking pickups, 1 volume & 1 tone control, 3-way toggle switch, PRS style stoptail,

Sound : 10
Now this is where this beauty shines. I love the tone the basswood gives this guitar. It sounds a lot different then any humbucking SE out on the market right now. I use tons of effects and this thing seems to just soak it all up and produce a sound that is better then the original Santana SE I.I can make this thing go from Incubus to UnderOATH to Killswitch Engage and back to miles davis and buddy guy. so versitile yes!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I do like the Camo finish it's definitely so far the most unique feature offered on any SE thus far. The guitar came flawless right out of the box.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Well I do have a white tremonti SE,A orignal Santana SE and i do love them both but this axe seems like its as dependable as both and looks like it would take a beating. Unfornately i would use a backup only because i play in Drop C Sharp, Drop C and Standard so i definitely need at the least two guitars.the strap buttons i think i will have to change but no biggie. over i guitar i would rely if i had to.

Customer Support : 8
PRS seems to be very helpful with everything and seem to respond quickly at least with me dispite the horror stories i've heard.

Overall Rating : 10
I am very impressed with this guitar I've been playing for 6 years and i know a good guitar when i play one. This guitar can definitely beat any guitar in its price range and some of the upper gibson models.I just wish it had a bit of a carved top like the tremonti se.but i also wish it had pickup covers also. This guitar seems to be based on Dan Estrin's PRS which is also cool if your a hoobastank fan. but if you're not and you hate them then hey dont swet it doesnt have his name on it.If this guitar was stolen i'd definitely get another one.

This is definitely a 2005 model i got mine a bit earlier than expected it features everything else like the other SE's but surprisingly it's made of Basswood if im correct which totally rocks!! pickups arent covered but if you need a better discription just think of the Billy Martin Se with a camo finish and standard written rather than Billy Martin SE.

Sound : 9
This thing does suit my style and i do like it. I play it through my marshall AVT and my effect chains include a Boss NS-2 a Boss TU-2 a Boss Ph-2 A digitech GNX2000. It sounds a bit bright but it's cool i mean it suits my style from rock to jazz to metal so overall pretty cool. what i dont like is the pickups really i think they could be a bite darker in sound. (if that makes any sense)I guess i'll have to get use the sound the basswood gives it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
everything was set up good nothing really needed adjustment and there was no flaw as far as the eye can see and beyond.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This looks like it can take a beating but it doesnt mean its worked its way up to no.1 in guitar rack. I do play alot of gigs but my band has decided to take a break this summer so i wont get to test it live until this august.but thing is for sure like all PRS i can depend on it no matter what.

Customer Support : 10
I've dealt with PRS and they seem very great when it comes to things although i think they might be pissed because i got this model before they even posted it on their website.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for a good 5 years my style goes from UnderOATH to incubus. well thats more of the sound of my band but you get the idea. I only wished this guitar looked more like Dan Estrin's guitar. The basswood definitely gives this beast a different sound then any other SE on the market some might like it some wont but it just depends. If it got stolen then i might just go back to a generation 1 Santana SE i mean i own a Custom SE soapbar II and a White Tremonti SE so i dunno if i'd be really into buying another Camo.but dont get me wrong this thing is a PRS and will sound just like one so it does have a good sound just a bit different from what im used to.
