It features, mahogany solid body, in vintage cherry satin finish, double cutaway, set-in mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard, the pickups are PRS designed (passive humbucker) neck and bridge, tone and volume control,3 position toggle switch, 22 jumbo frets with nice moon inlays (said to be MOP and Abalone), chrome hardware, tremolo bridge (made of nickel), non-locking tuners (which sucks), came with a nice high quality gigbag with enough room for accesories, music sheets, etc. also came with standard wrenches and cable. Made In Korea, year 2006.

This particular guitar has an amazing range, I play from death metal to jazz (think of Opeth), and this guitar can do it all because of the high output from the pickups, also, they clean up the sound nicely as you turn down the volume knob. Im currently usin a line 6 SpiderII HD150, in clean and metal channels, sometimes i use the Ibanez TS7 to push the distortion in the solos, and yet the pickups aren??t noisy at all. I could describe the sound as warm, compared to a SE Custom which is "brighter", I prefer a "darker" sound because of what i play. The sustain is great because of the set-in neck.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The Action was a bit high (for my taste), so i lowered it and now it is perfect!. The pickups are properly voiced for bridge and neck and they have a high outout (not as much as an EMG), but they sound great with heavy distortions. I use the tremolo bridge a lot, and its great because can go up and down, though you may experience some tuning problems after because of the non-locking tuners. The guitar has a great weight, is not too heavy, not too light, I use it with a standard strap and its very confortable. The highest frets are easy to reach.

I write this review mainly because i bought this guitar a year ago, and played several gigs with it (about 1 a week), and definetly can depend on it, never needed the backup guitar (a LTd Viper 50). It seems to me that this guitar will last long. Of course the satin finish has become shiny in the places where it makes contact with the clothes and arm, but i read that this could be fixed (doesnt look bad though), at least with satin finish i dont have to worry about scratches ruining that shiny finish.

Overall you wont find a better guitar in this price range (and with this features), this guitar looks good and sounds great, my favourite thing is its range and sustain, if it were stolen i would buy it again, I compared this guitar with the rest of the SE line and lots of schecter, and LTD guitars. I wish it had locking tuners.

Solid Mahogany Body with Glued-in Mahogany Neck and Rosewood Fretboard, PRS designed passive Humbucker pick-ups at Neck and Bridge position. Three position Toggle switch, PRS designed Stop-Tail Bridge, Chrome plated Volume and Tone control. 22 Frets and the neck is a "Wide-Fat" carve, with NON-locking PRS Tuners. Matte Vintage Cherry is the Finish. It came with an excellent quality Gig Bag. I would have given this guitar a 10 for features except it is not "coil-tapped" and only has one volume and tone control. Made in Korea for PRS
Sound

The sound of this guitar is amazing for the price. The stop-tail gives it incredible sustain and there is plenty of "warmth" thanks to the Solid Mahogany Body. The Pick-Ups are as good as they get in this price range. I can use this guitar to play whatever I feel like from, blues, hard rock, prog, whatever. The P/ups are very quiet and sound great, no hum at all. As normal the bridge and neck p/ups are voiced for their respective positions. I wish it had been offered with a coil-tap.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The Action was very good from the factory, although I changed string gauge and manufacture almost immediately (I prefer Blue Steel). With that said, I had to re-intonate. The playability of the neck is just fantastic and the fit is class A. I am not sure about the longevity of the finish as I've only had mine for a few months, I did notice that my VINTAGE CHERRY is a lot darker in hue then the catalog showed. That is not a bad thing and I really love the way the guitar looks and feels in my hands. The "wide fat" carve neck is great for us larger handed guys. I sold a telecaster because of the narrow neck was hard for me to chord on.

Whenever I get a new instrument it gets almost non-stop playing for weeks (except while eating and sleeping) and this guitar is holding up very well. I have had no problems at all and don't expect to. It is a stage worthy instrument.

Comes with a limited 1 year warranty, and since it was purchased New from a reputable dealer which I've used before, I expect no problems.
The warranty is NOT transferable, AND!!! the buyer must send in warranty card within 30 days of purchase to be covered. I'd suggest not forgetting that fact as it could mean trouble later.

For the money, a guitar player is going to have to really hunt for a better instrument. I will NEVER SELL this guitar and if it were stolen or lost (how you "lose" a guitar I don???t know??? but...) I would replace it as fast as I could with one just like it. You cannot go wrong with a PRS; I've been playing for 35 years...if PRS would have been around then...I'd have a 35-year-old PRS.

i run this thru a mesa boogie mark1 reissue combo, ot to a yamaha magicstomp for delay,chorus,tremelo,etc.-PRS's pickups are full, rich, very versatile depending on how the amp is set-they can cover pretty much any genre-

the action from the factory was a bit high for my taste, so i lowered it and cleaned the frets and fingerboard-the workmanship is exemplary-probably the best imported electric on the market-you get a lot of the PRS vibe without spending 2 to 3 grand-although if i had it, i would willingly spend it-PRS is one of the few companies that keeps getting better-

I got my guitar in 2002 from the local brickhouse music. It had 22 frets. It laminated and has 2 knobs, one for volume, another for tone. It also has a switch that changes from the bridge pickup to the neck pickup and combination of the two. It has 2 humbucker pickups. The Neck is maple, and it has a mohagany body. It has a stratocaster shape, pretty basic. It has a unique bridge, that gets really troublesome after a few years. Its a floating Stop Tail bridge. The strings wrap around it and connect to the font of it. The Tuners are very basic, nonlocking on the head-stock. It has a medium thickness neck, very playable, recognizably a PRS. I think its 22.5 inches. It included a gig bag.

I like to plat bluesier rock, like some hendrix, AC/DC and Led Zepplin, but also a little metal and some new stuff. FOr all of these purposes I leave the switch on the bridge pick up to get a brighter sound. But this guitar never has a bluesy sound. I rely on my amp to make it bluesier. It has a very generic sound not birght, not blunt and not dark. It is a good beginner guitar because you can play many different types of music. Its pickups arnet to hot, they dont make any noise when the strings arent being played. Its sounds more brigt than full, like a low end sratocaster. Overall I liked its tone until i started my playing around blues and rock, rather than metal.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The guitar was good at the beginning, but after 3 years it has begun to deteriorate. It actions was low, but recently it became so high that I to lower the bridge. When i did this it had moderatly high action and string buzz. It neck bows up after a few years. The pickups work well. The intonation is mediocre. As you go higher on the frets it gets flater and flater compared to what it should be. The tone and volume knobs also cause some scratching noises when turned. Its cord socket it very loose and always has been. It has loose, small screws for the strap, so it fell of often. When i tried installig straplocks they screwed in but soon fell out. All of these problems have happend in the last year, due to me being laz about keeping things working, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I dont know what im doing when it comes to fixing my guitar, and now im paying the price.

This guitar has very durable hard ware, it had no sign of ware. It stays in tune for a long time. It works well live. The finish is high quality. I can depend on it when i have the hankerin' to Jam out. It does the job. If i didnt take bad care of it, I have no doubt it would make a very good guitar for a show. I would use it at a gig without a back up

Ive been playing 3 years, and for me its time to move on and step up my playing, as well as my guitar. It works well with my amp. It a Roland cube30, it emmulates 7 other amps, and does it VERY well, and is a an incredible value. If it were stolen, i would use the ensurance money and buy another guitar, but thats only because im buying a new one anyways. I like it because i can play alot of different kinds of music, I hate it becuase its starting to deteriorate. I wish it hasa tremelo, (never models do) I wish its neck was built better and did not bow up.

This is the review for PRS SE standard guitar. I just got it 2 weeks ago. This line of guitar is built in Korea with pretty good workmanship. The guitar I got was made in 2005 based on the "F" in series number.
The body is a solid basswood with 22 frets on a wide and fat neck. Neck is a glued-in made of mahagony with rosewood fingerboard. It has 2 PRS humbucker pickups (passive) with a 3-way switch and one tone and one volumne control. It came with a pretty nice gig bag. It has a PRS stoptail.
Sound
:7
I am into 80's heavy metal like Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Van Halen, etc. This guitar sounds good for this purpose. I have not tried too much on the clean sound and blues type of sound. I run my guitar straight through a Line 6 Spider II with FBV foot pedal. The only stomp box I use is the EVH flanger. Using exactly the same setting on the amp, this guitar sounds more bottom heavy compared to other 2 guitars I have; a very old Kramer and the Music Man EVH model. I usually tweak up the tremble slightly to get more high frequency tone for the solo setting.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The paint job is pretty cool. It has a camouflage paint job with satin top coat. Quite a contrary to the bright and shiny finish I am used to on my other 2 guitars. I adjusted the action lower by about 1/2 turn on the 2 screws holding the stop tail. No adjustment made to the pickup. Intonation was good, no adjustment from me.
The fat neck took about 10 minutes for me to get used to but no problem after that. Maybe a problem for someone with small hands. Anyway, I think most PRS 22 frets are wide and fat while 24 frets are wide and thin.
The neck is also in similar satin finish. I do have doubt where this satin finish will be worn off gradually. I have always played necks with a thin clear coat, not like this one. Well, time will tell.
Reliability/Durability

The satin finish probably requires a little bit more care than usual if you really care about the prestine look. But I think this one with a camouflage top would actually look better with some normal worn pattern. Well, just my opinion.
I have some concern with the line jack. It seems to be very sensitive. Maybe something is loose that needs to be tightened. I won't play it live until I fix this.
Strap button is solid. I don't have any worry about it. Playing a gig with no backup is trouble waiting to happen. I never did that myself and won't recommend doing that at all to anyone.

The PRS website was helpful for getting information about how to set up the stoptail for action and intonation. It also has info on all the ocntrols (but this guitar is so simple I wonder if you need this). Did not call the help line.
Did not pay attention to the warranty, one year, I guess.

I guess 2 weeks ownership is too short to do this guitar any justice. I thought I'll get this out and maybe come back 3 months later for a follow up review. So I'll reserve my overall opionion until then.
