PRS CE Emerald Burst (one of the best finished ever, aside from scarlet burst). This is an amazing guitar and I love the sound. I bought it used from My Generation Guitars, who I know find has been buying broken instruments and fixing them up (as well as marking up the price hundreds of dollars). Overall I love the guitar, if it wasn't for that guys cheap fixes... PRS is are awesome, just don't buy one from this shady businessman.

It would be more reliable if the guy at My Generation Guitars wasn't a snake oil salesman... I imagine it was great out of the PRS factory, as O have played other CE's that rocked.

1988 model (in the 200s) in cherry finish. The neck is bolt-on 24-fret solid maple with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and has the original "Classic Electric" decal on the headstock (they soon changed it to the signature). I believe the body is alder and is thinner than the custom / standard models (by about 1/4-inch) which makes it a really light guitar. 1-piece Milcom tremolo, locking tuners, 3-way toggle, tone and volume controls. The pickups are the vintage bass and chainsaw. The 3-way toggle is great if you're going to use this guitar for gigging and need an instant pickup change. However, it is not as versatile as the 5-way rotary switch or having a push-pull on the tone. I'll be putting a push-pull in soon.

This will have to be in 2 parts.
1. When I first tried this guitar, the seller had put in some Seymour Duncan 59ers from the 80s. It sounded superb, bluesy / jazzy in the neck position, powerful yet clear in the bridge. Sustain is good up to about the 12th fret, but after that, it breaks up quite fast (kind of like a strat) which is dissapointing. This is probably a result of the bolt-on neck. With these pickups, the sound is a definite 10 and has real character.
2. When I bought it, I wanted the original pickups put in, which the seller did. A word of warning, the original pickups are not very good, especially the neck. They sound very wooly and fuzzy. In fact, the PRS book says that the chainsaw pick was called that because it sounded... well, like a chainsaw! I can confirm that. they were soon changed. I've since bought the 59ers off the same guy. because of the original pickups, I have to give it a 6. Sorry... With the 59ers, a 10.

Action is good, set up for 9s. Tremolo works great and is always in tune. Neck feels good and the locking tuners are real time-savers for changing strings and maintaining the guitar in tune. The finish is in really good condition, with only a chip near the edge, and the deep red is beautifully applied. Overall, this is a beauty to play, just like all other PRSs.

Can't really comment as I don't gig with it. I would say it'll last forever. The quality is there, it feels really solid and well put together. The finish actually seems kind of thick (unlike most other PRSs where it is supposed to be thin for sound).

The pickups really let this guitar down. However, with the 59ers, this is one of the best sounding guitars I have ever played (a 10). The thinner body would make it great for gigging and I believe the bolt-on neck make it a bit brighter sounding that other PRSs. Given the second-hand price of these, they're a steal compared with the modern Customs.

This guitar is a 1995 CE3CC and it rocks. It has a bolt on Wide Thin Neck, two humbucking pickups, (Vintage Bass in the Neck and HFS in the Bridge), one volume control and one tone control, 5 way rotary switch and tremelo. The only thing I wish it had was the McCarty Switching with the 3 way toggle and coil tap. The only thing I don't really like about this guitar is that I am having a hard time trying to restring it. The diagrams they include with the guitar are somewhat vague... If anyone has some tips please let me know.

I play a lot of different types of music and this guitar is very versatile. The 5 way rotary switching gives you a lot of different sounds. Right now I play it through a Crate GX-65 and it sounds great on all settings.

Well, I bought the guitar used, but everything was pretty much fine when I bought it. The finish is Holoflake and it is awesome. It changes colors depending on how the light hits it. The different colors are red, orange, green, yellow, blue, and purple. It would make a great stage guitar but at this point I'm not that good.

Well, I've only had it a couple of weeks but it seems to have held up well since 1995. It's probably like any other well made guitar, if you treat it well it can last forever. The finish is great and will definitely look good for a long time to come. There were no strap buttons when I bought it because apparently someone had stolen them, but they through in some Dunlop Straplocks which I thought was pretty cool.

I've only been playing for about 6 months but I have played a lot of different guitars and I definitely like the PRS the best. I started out on an Ibanez EX and then I got an Ibanez JS 100. I didn't really like the JS100 so I exchanged it for a Fender Lone Star Strat which I loved. Unfortunately I had to sell it shortly after getting it. Then I bought a Les Paul Standard on ebay but it was damaged in shipping so I had to send it back. Then I went in to Guitar Center just to look around and see what was new and this just called my name and I bought it. It is definitely the best guitar I have ever had the pleasure to play. Hopefully I will be able to hang onto this one.

I play blues, jazz, and rock and this can do it all. This guitar is the most versatile instrument I've ever played. Definitely try to find a pre-1995 model. They switched the body wood to mahogany and IMHO it doesn't sound nearly as good. Position 6 gives a soud not quite as thick as a Les Paul but unbelievably close. Kind of like a 2 ton stratocaster. This is my favorite tone on any guitar I've ever played-beautifal for overdriven and clean leads. Position 7 is a little thin for lead but makes a great distorted rhythm tone. Position 8 is kind of like a telecaster and is great for a blues shuffle rhythm and for an overdriven lead. Position 9 is a crystal clear acoustic tone- there is no mud in any chords. Position 10 is a to trebly for me and I rarely use it. But with the other four tones why would I ever need to?

I bought this used and the action was to low, but I think that was the previous owner's doings. After I raised it, it felt fine. A little rust on the hardware- I keep meaning to clean it but I'm to lazy. Besides that everything is top notch, craftmanship is perfect.

I've had some problems with the strap buttons but I think I'll just get some new ones. As I said this guitar is six years old but plays, looks, and sounds like it was straight out of the factory.

I love this guitar. I would buy it again in a second. This is so versatile. Make extra efforts to get a pre- 1995 model. To my ears they're to seperate guitars.

This is a 1997 model CE24. 24 frets, maple top laid over a mahagony body; standard PRS construction there. A single volume and tone control with the PRS 5 way rotary pickup selector. It came equipped with a tremelo and the PRS locking tuners... Very nice, but not quite as stable as I'd heard as far as tuning is concerned. The neck is the PRS wide thin. A very nice case with a padded handle was included.

I play moderate hard rock with every sort of tone from clean to fusiony distortion. I use Mesa Boogie amplification and the setup is very sweet. By using the guitar volume knob I can clean my most distorted lead settings up to almost perfect clarity. For leads it is very tight and focused, with plenty of sustain and a midrangey honk. For Holdsworth or Scott Henderson type lead sounds it is excellent. Not particularly good for classic Gibson sounds, but it will do passable Strat 2 and 4 tones. No SRV stuff here, though. Have to settle for Clapton ala "After Midnight". Having played an SG and a Les Paul up until their theft late last year, I kind of miss the "woman tone"; it's nowhere to be found on this instrument. That said, though, the focus and clarity of this guitar is a revelation to me similar to what I experienced when I moved from a Hohner Tele to a Fender Strat. The lead and distorted rhythm tones are fat and brutal but retain clarity without the clankiness that some HB equipped Strats still suffer from. The instrument sustains for days through either my Mark III or my DC3.

Everything on this guitar was perfect from the get go. I put some Dunlop straploks on it, but only because I trust that particular system far more than any other, including PRS's.

Absolutely dependable. I bought a PRS Standard the week before this one (insurance settlement from the above mentioned theft...) which has been the backup to this one. I've broken some strings on this guitar, but I think that has much to do with the different scale and string tension from Gibsons or Fenders. I'd never gig without a backup guitar, though.

No repairs yet. I requested another whammy bar for my other PRS shortly after I bought the two and it was sent free of charge within a week or two.

I've played for 25 years. I really miss my stolen instruments; I grew up with my '69 SG. This guitar is a step up, though, from that instrument. Right out of the case it was as impressive as the SG that took 10 years of bit by bit upgrading. I like everything about the CE. It looks good, feels good, plays and sounds wonderful. Every time I pick it up I learn something else about how it responds. I do wish that the tuning was a little more stable. The PRS system of string replacing is tricky, though, and I may not have it right yet, so the jury is out here. I keep a tuner in line and tweak betwwen songs during sets.

My main music is blues but I also play jazz, rock, country and a little in between. I play mostly through a mesa/boogie studio22+. but I also play it through various older marshalls and fenders. Sounds excellent through all of them. There is hardly any noise when splitting the coils. The only noise is when you have crazy gain at loud volumes. The sounds from this guitar are endless. The neck position gives a real thick sound. The bridge has a lot of bite. The 2&4 pos give stralike sounds - enough for me not to buy a strat. The 3 position is pretty neat I use it for a lot of single note rythm parts - very slight tele emulation. The variety of tones is amazing. When you turn down the tone control you get sounds like a jazz box with the neck pickup put some gain in the neck and you're Duane Allman. I like this guitar more than the newer fat necks or even the set mahogany necks. The maple neck adds a lot of brightness to the tone. What an unbelievable guitar.

a 1/16 size nick in the enamel from a stray cable. The quilted top looks like clouds are floating in the wood. The neck is almos 1/4 sawn but there are some imperfections. After seeing a schecter neck which is a perfect 1/4 sawn this could be a bit better. I have never had any problems with it. Always stays in tune!!! the composite nut and locking tuners really help here. Changing a string is a piece of cake.

I've been playing for 12 years. My first guitar was an evh copy from sears. In highschool I upgraded to an Ibanez RG550. After college when I started working the first thing I bought was this guitar. I love it. After that the next year I bought a 335 because I also love that tone. My next electric will be a tele but I'm in no hurry I probably won't get it for a few years. If it were stolen/lost no guitar could replace it not even the new CE's. I love the fact the it is a multi-purpose guitar for all styles. Between my 335 and this guitar there is no better two guitar combo. All the bases except tele are covered. Although as I said before with the reight tweaking the 3rd pos can sound a bit like a tele.
