Bought used for ??50.00! Whoever owned this previously knew bugger all about setups and it was very, very bad. So bad that I gave up trying to work on it and gave it to my local guitar shop. They found that it had a new nut that was very high and the neck was in need of adjustment.
For those that have never had a pro set-up...DO IT! It has transformed this guitar from a non-player to a fantastic instrument. They filed the nut taking 4mm off and recut the A string nut channel. They gave the neck a big adjustment and fitted D'Addario 10's. Because the neck is now so straight, the action is the lowest that Ive ever had but spot on.
Everything else on the guitar is very simple, well put together and there are no flaws that I can see.
Ive given this a 9 for action, fit and finish since Ive had the work done. I would have given it a 5 before having the setup.

Everything looks and feels like it will last for a very long time. The strap buttons looked OK but I always fit Schaller strap locks anyway.
Dont gig at the moment, but would always have a backup.

Never dealt with them, website is good though for downloads and info so will give a 6 for that

Been laying for 26 years. Have 8 other guitars includinga Gibson Les Paul, Washburn Idol and a few strats. I used to have a Fender Mexican Tele which cost ??320 and let me tell you that now this Peavey is set up properly it is as good as the Fender. Unbelievable for the price I paid. Unless you have a pro set up though, or you really are good at setting up guitars you will not see how good this guitar can be.
If I came across another for this price I would snap it up straight away.

This is basically Peavey's take on a Nashville Telecaster. Solid Alder body, maple neck/fretboard, 3 Peavey single coils, 5 way switch. Mine is 3 color sunburst, which as others have stated, looks a little fake..I would have preferred the blonde version, but I got a deal on this that I just couldn't pass up. 22 frets, ashtray style 3 barrel bridge, 1 volume, 1 tone, decent tuners and big fat strap buttons. String trees for D-G-B-E....It's a telecaster copy, so what more do you want....tele's are supposed to be no frills.

This guitar sits well in my collection...it's the only single coil I have...I also own guitars with 'buckers and p-90s, so the Peavey fills in the single coil slot nicely. I use it through a Vox Pathfinder 15R, a Vox Cambridge 30R, and a modified Epi Valve Jr. Although each amp imparts it's own sonic signature, the Peavey sounds good through all 3. I like that the single coils are set up on a 5 way, giving me 3 single coil sounds and 2 humbucking modes.Lots of tonal variety for such a simple guitar. The pickups are a little trebly/thin, but you're looking for twang anyways, right? Good sustain and it cuts through.

The setup from the factory was average for a economy priced guitar. It needed a little neck relief and the action had to be raised a hair. I also put 10's on it, necessitating some intonation work. My one gripe was that the A string slot on the nut had to be filed a bit, as I was getting a weird harmonic ring on the open A.
I love the neck.....narrow and fat....fast but meaty enough to grab..the frets were nicely finished, no burrs anywhere.
Finish..well, as stated elsewhere, I'm not thrilled with the sunburst..but the poly finish is good, no glops and the neck is nice and smooth...other than the nut, no parts issues at all.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Seems pretty durable....solid hunk of Alder with a maple neck...tuners stay in tune, wiring is nicely done, no complaints after 9 months of ownership.

Haven't had to deal with Peavey, but I've heard good things.

Overall, this guitar was a great buy....is it a USA Telecaster? No. Is it a solid tele style guitar for cheap? Absolutely. It was $200 less than a MIM Fender Standard Tele, and after trying out both, I had to say that the Peavey seemed much more solid, better put together, and sounded better. The nashville style pup configuration helped sell me as well. Even MIM Fender Nashvilles are well over $500 these days. If I decide that the stock pups just aren't cutting it, I can always replace them with a set of Rio Grandes, and still have spent less than on a Fender Standard.
