Not sure when it was made, fairly recent i suspect. 22 frets, made in China (i know, but they're really getting better, at least as good as koreans now if you know how to pick brand and models), neck thruough i think, 2 humbuckers (very vintage sounding) think its a mahogany (could be wrong) and rosewood fretboard. pretty standard les paul style, just not carved top. nice jack daniel's finish, its growing on me more and more each day.

Sound : 8
very vintage sounding, never have i heard a solid body with such warm tone, it almost sounds like a semihollow on clean (as my friend thought when i was playin upstairs). not very good for more modern stuff, as the pickups are too vintage for that, but awesome blues and classic rock, i find a surprisingly nice acdc tone on the neck pickup.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
mines a B stock, everythings fine except a little gloss finish wear hear the frets (not on back of neck so does not affect playing at all) and the jack daniel's knobs were missing (i used chrome tele knobs instead, dont give a shit and nobody else did). setup was decent, but i like my action low and a little buzzy for a nice ol' power chord or some jazz licks. i fucked up the neck to put some 10s in there, but thats all fixed with 5 bucks and some superglue. tuners are okay, could be better, might be changing them out soon

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
very durable, its black so dings and scratches arent obvious, heavy and very solid, i could make a guy forget his mom by a single bash on the head with this babe. she's a beaut i tell ya, not very outstanding guitar (way too ******** many les paul style out there) but for the price it kicks ***. beats the **** outta any epiphone, maybe even some low end gibsons. about 400 dollars (i live in taiwan, a decent guitar for that price is dirt cheap here. lucky american bastards), so quite a steal for great quality. lost or stole i would get a new one if i can find one (this like is getting rare, could be a collectors piece someday) otherwise id just get another nicely built les paul.

Customer Support : No Opinion
the music shop i bought it at takes great care of customers, so never contacted peavey for anything.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
nice guitar, nice price, nice sound, and great collector or conversation piece. you see all those rock stars wearing jack daniel t-shirts, but how many of em have a JD guitar hmm? if your thinking about somethin like an epi, **** that and look for one of these. i swear you wont regret it, as epis are overpriced for what they are. long live peavey, and please God, long live jack daniels whiskey.

I believe this was made last year, 2005. These came from the Peavey custom shop and are increasingly becoming harder to find. It's ok since I got mine. It has two Peavey made Humbuckers. They are very quiet though so good news there. Also has 2 volume and one tone control with a Les Paul type 3-way toggle switch for pickups. Mine has the gloss black finish with Ebony fretboard and real Whiskey Barrel trussrod cover. The volume and tone nobs have "Old Lucky 7" embossed on them as well. It is a single cutaway style guitar like the famous Gibby Les Paul.

I have been playing for 17 years and adhere to Punk and most upbeat rock playing. I deviate very little. Sometiems I throw a little lounge jazz in to break it up but...this guitar almost threw me off at the store. Looked like a ridgerunners dream. The hillbilles Les Paul I suppose. But, after playing it a few times at the music store I work at, I came to love the instrument for the sound I could get out of it. It has a very, very warm tonal quality to it. The bridge pickup is pretty good but the neck pickup actually sounds better for most applications. This says a lot since I have only used my neck pickup a handful of times in the 17 years I have played. The body is nice and thick so the sound resonating from it is hugemungous. Very thick. I liken it to a Les Paul Studio mixed with a Fender Tele type of sound but nothing like either. Well, prolly more like the LP than anything else but not quite. The greatest thign about the pickups is the absence of ALL noise. Now, I am an avid Peavey-Hater but this really turned my prejudice around. Maybe I wasn't playing the right peaveys.

The neck is very fast. I love the finish. I was goinf to buy the newest Les Paul Special but decided on this one. I fell in love with the LP because the action was so beautiful but was pretty convinced with a little tweaking of the bridge on this, I could get the same thing. I did exactly that. This thing sounds AMAZING. Very easy to play. I did also raise the pickups a fraction of a turn but this is just my preference so no worries here. Stock, everythign is great. Play around with things a little and you have the best value for the money available.

Reliability/Durability : 9
It is a very well made instrument. I did buy it with a little nick on the bridge pickup cover but no biggie. It seems solid as a rock but I've only owned it for a few days so will have to withold judgment for now. I am pretty sure I could gig with this without any real serious issues involved.

?never had to call Mr. Hartley Peavey. NEVER

For a decent alternative to an LP, I would give this a try. This guitar isn't for everyone but I think Peaveys Custom shop tried to make it as widely accessible as they could for just about all styles of music. Wouldn't do Jazz but this thing could burn a "blues" club stage right down. Probably the warmest sounding guitar I've ever owned. I have owned a few such as Schecter C1, Gibson Invader, Ibanez SZ520, etc. Not a fender guy so don't ask. I would have appreciated a less "T-Shirt ad" kind of finsih however I do like the Jack Daniels stuff on it.
