Pros:
Absolutely unbelievable price for any name brand guitar.
Comes ready to play w/ guitar, case, strap and bar.
Plugged it in and everything worked.
Unique design, great conversation piece at a gig.
Cons:
I'm tall, the strap is short.
Not enough body on bass side, too close to my body, impossible to play past the 14th fret.
Nut and bridge placed in wrong possitions, I had to remove and reset, and thus void the guarantee.
The strings were too light, 13 on the high, nickel dobro strings worked much better.
Body slides around too much, could use a rubber strip along cutaway to help stabalize it.

Sound : 10
I think it sounds great as is. The tone control adjusts the pickup sound from a single coil to a full humbucker.
I've played it through '56 Gibson GA-6, a '62 Maestro GA-2RT, a Peavey Nashville 400 and Nashville 112, all with great results.
I can play Hank Williams style intros to "Your Cheatin Heart" using the full treble setting, to down-n-dirty "Road House Blues" with the full humbucker.
For $200, I've got no qualms with the sound!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
Action is where it should be for a lap slide guitar.
Factory setup for placement of the nut and bridge were terrible. Every lap style player I know tweaks the setup of their instruments to the max, but at this entry level price, factory setup is imperative to allow begining players a chance to start out correctly. I hope the factory picks up on this. I'm not the only one who's noticed it.

Reliability/Durability : 8
For a beginer's instrument the Power Slide should hold up just fine. I think that because of the uniqueness of the design, a pro model should be offered that is setup correctly, has a fuller body sizing and comes with a hard case. For now, the pros can make their own upgrades and rely on the gig bag for protection. Gig without a backup? Sure, since this is not a main instrument, but a novelty one. If it broke, I'd put it back in it's bag and finish out the night on whatever else I'd brought, be it pedal steel, dobro, banjo or guitar.

I've dealt with Peavey in the past, with great results. Their tech department walked me through a couple of amp upgrades, with added suggestions that were helpful.
Never had to send anything in for repair.
The waranty on mine was voided from the start with my resetting the nut and bridge after playing it for only an hour.

Overall Rating : 8
30 years on lap and pedal steel, banjo and acoustic and electric guitar. I play out using a Zumsteel D-10, Dobro Jerry Douglas model, a Wechter Scheerhorn dobro, a '35 Gibson banjo, Blueridge BR-280, Gibson Console Grande and a Supro Sierra archtop electric. I use a Peavey Session 500, Nashville 112, Crate Acoustic and several vintage Gibson and Fender amps.
If the Power Slide were stolen, I'd get another.
I love the concept, not too thrilled on the final execution.
Would love to find a palm pedal attachment for it.
Peavey!!! READ THIS!!! It's a great start, just a few easy tweeks to perfect it.

Ergonomically designed for maximum playability - Patent pending multi-point strap system - Allows for multiple vertical and horizontal playing styles - Unique magnet loaded pickup with patented variable coil mode control - Radical patent pending design provides unprecedented neck access in vertical playing position - Case, slide and multi-point strap included

Sound : 10
Due to the unique coil tap which uses a tone pot to go from humbucking to single coil by turning the pot, the Power Slide goes from a sweet HB to a nice SC P-90 style sound and variations in between - the pickup appears to be of the ALNICO variety with heavy gauge windings - it's just a volume and this old school tone circuit and it really sounds fantastic - well worth the price for the sound alone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It's a lap steel so it's not really set up per se since the bridge can't be intonated. The tuners are Kluson style and hold really well with the heavy gauge strings - I have it tuned to Low Bass A (low to high = E A E A C# E) and it stays in tune well. Mine is a burgundy reddish finish with some sparkly stuff in it and looks very show biz. Should look nice on stage. Just a tad of 60 cycle hum when in full tilt single coil mode but this can be off set by rotating to humbucking or somewhere in between. Nice and solid and not too heavy, even with the 3-point strap which secures the Power Slide so you can play it lap style standing up. This takes a bit of getting used to but works rather well - I tried the overhand style and it really isn't for me - saw Rusty Young with Poco do this once but it was on a Melobar which has an angled board. You can use it as a conventional slide guitar too and it works well since the neck is scalloped on the back to allow access - well thought out and engineered - this thing actually does what it says in the ads and what have you - It comes with the 3 way strap and a slide which looks cheesy but actually is pretty cool - I'm getting a very nice pro sound out of this guitar stock out of the box which is not usually the case for me - I like it!

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
It's a Peavy so it should out last any punishment the road deals out.

Customer Support : 10
Never had to use it but I did contact Gypsy Carns after seeing his YouTube demo of the Power Slide and let him know my thoughts - he's a really nice guy and has comminicated back and forth on the guitar - that's pretty cool!

Overall Rating : 10
For $199 US Shipped this is a real deal if you're looking for a gig ready lap steel with a lot of style and design which sounds far better than it's cost - get one!
