Made in Chine. It has a perfectly acceptable 21 frets, not perfect for those extra-high solos but suitable for most things. Solid top with a solid red finish, one volume and one one, humbucker at the bridge with single coils at the middle and neck, maple neck (not brilliant quality, but fairly fast and durable), unknown body wood, oh-so-slightly sharper than a strat shape, which I really like, to be honest, and with good comfort contours it's, well, comfortable. Tremolo bridge, not great, but gets the job done. Non-locking tuners, I think. Frets are average size, comes with regular 25 and a half inch scale. Comes with gig-bag, but I can't remember what else, this thing is pretty old.
Sound
:5
I play classic metal, think def leppard and Van Halen. Trough the amp It came with in the starter pack, this sounds pretty good, with a gritty sound, which can ascend to a monster metal sound or a quiet, admittedly poor clean sound. HOWEVER. When I play this through my large pair of Martin Audio amps, through a Boss effects pedal, it has no guts at all, lacking inexcusably in lows. No noise on the starter amp. The pickups are awful, though, and I'm searching for a replacement set.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:8
The strings wer fantastically low. This is a defining feature on the guitar, really. Truss rod was fine. Bridge pickup was loose, that was about the only real problem.
Reliability/Durability

Mmkay, this is awful. I've had this fr a while, say a couple of years, and it's in a horrendous state. Looking accross the room at it...
-The bridge saddles are loose and worn
-one of them has completely come off
-The strings are continually being broken off at the nut
-The tone knob has fallen off
-and the switch has broken in half
It's easy enough to fix, though.
I'd never take this thing live because something may easily break off on-stage.
However, if you like John Entwistle-esque smashing of your instruments, this baby's spectacular.

I've been playing for a year or so (my bother's been playing for two, this is his) and this is pretty average. I also own a Squier Telecaster, which I've owned for far longer (it being my Dad's...), and it's stayed in much better condition, and has a more consistent sound. If it were stolen or lost, I would simply continue saving for a more expensive piece of kit, as in the price range this comes in, there isn't really much by way of brilliant guitars. I love the sound of it through the amp it came with, but if it breaks even one more time, I will not spend my time fixing it as it will just break again.

It's a strat- sunburst 22 fret. 3 single coil pickups (older model, I guess) and 5-way controller switch, with 1 volume control and 2 tone controls. The woods? no clue. I have a sieko tuner that works well- plug it in kind. Thin neck. I added a pick holder behind the guitar next to the tuning pegs- good spot to put it.
Sound
:7
i play rythym in a strange band- we cover jimi hendrix, led zeppelin all the way to metallica, and we write songs of jazz with a beethoven influence, but the pick style is "funkish". it's a versatile style. i don't have any effect pedals yet, and i don't even HAVE an amp- i have to use my microbass amp, so i really don't change the sound that much (i borrow my friend's a lot, though- which is a 15w marshall). the pickups are consisitent though, and i've never had huge amounts of trouble with feedback, even w/o humbuckers.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:6
I bought it used, but it was in good condition still. there are only a few notable problems- my tuning peg on the 3rd string is messed up (loose) so that when I do consecutive bends on that string it falls out of town. the pickup selector switch will sometimes get stuck on position 1, and the cord input plug gets loose. unscrew the unit, and THEN tighten it to avoid breaking the wires. however, these problems are all minor, and avoidable when I maintanence the guitar- i don't really care b/c i paid so little for it.
Reliability/Durability
:7
live? i hope to not use it live, unless maybe a backup. i have a friend w/ a gibson les paul that i use frequently, so i'd borrow his for live shows, but i'd feel confident if i needed my raptor for a drop d song, e flat or just a backup. it seems like it should hold for a while, as long as i keep the minor things minor. the strap buttons are still solid, which is good. i don't think i'd ever depend on a guitar w/o a backup, whether it be a gibson or peavey- there are just too many chances. i don't think i'd choose to play this guitar over many guitars, however.

i've been playing for about 1 year. if it were stolen... i'd have to depend on my acoustic until i could buy something new. actually, i'd track down the mo-fu that stole the guitar and teach him a lesson. it's much more than any "guitar" to me. it's a very versatile instrument, and can handle my playing. i use diaddario 9-gauge, and it picks up 9 alright. i'm saving my money for an epiphone or ibanez- care to donate? this guitar is a great beginner guitar. don't depend on it to carry you to hollywood, but it's awesome for road trips and taken places- it can take a beating w/o you getting all worried that it'll break. i've dropped it... a few times- the paint chipped and that's it- it still plays fine. good kick for the buck.

I got this guiatr as a gift from my uncle. It was most certanly made by children slaves in china or indonesia. It has a very soft, low quality sawdust body and a nasty looking maple bolt on neck.
3 single coil pickups, tone\vol, pickup switch.
A thin, low quality strat tremolo. Neck thats EXTREMELY thin and unstable.....MUCH thinner than my Ibanez' neck.
Just standard features for a low quality strat clone.
Sound
:1
This guitar is just a toy. It has a veryt very hollow, thin sawdust body and a ultra thin maple neck, so the tone is EXTREMELY thin and lifeless. The brigde pickup was.....almost useable, but the neck\middle pickups are extremely quiet and dark.
I opened the guitar, and i saw that the neck\middle pickups had burn marks on it! The has been a sloppy asian who "accidentaly" has de-gaussed the pickups magnet!!
Action, Fit, & Finish
:1
The guitar came with a loose neck, a brigde which screws was so loose you could rattle it. The wood is of soft sawdust, and the neck is made of ugly, brown striped maple with lots of knots. The fingerboard is some kind of rosewood too, and its also full of knots.
There is several pickguard schrew holes in the body that has been cut two places- like * *. That means that they ahve been sloppy with cyutting teh holes, so they had to do it twice.
The tuning pegs are loose, the nut was filed sharp, so that the strings broke. The Pickups were also de-gaussed, making them unusable.
The pots were also very scratchy, and there was alot of bad soldering inside it.
And btw, teh control room were filled with humps of sawdust and paint, and the body wee routed for a humbucker, even though teh pickguard were S-S-S, and teh guitar came with an SC in teh brigde position.
Reliability/Durability
:1
This guitar is NOT going to last. Nothing sticks to teh saw dust body, not even the brigde or neck, which is starting to fall off. The strap buttons actually fell out of the guitar when i was playing it.
The finish is very very thin, and its thicker some places than other.
I will never use this guitar on a gig.

Ive been playing 9 years now. This is the worst guitar ive played and owned.....EVER. If it were stolen, i would get it back.
This guitar is just a toy. I will use it as a "experiment" guitar, and install some sick pickups in it just to try them.
Uncles, moms and dads, never buy this guitar to your kids. Thank you.

I have an EXP Raptor Plus, made in China 2003, 21 Fret, Transparent Red, looks awesome and is flawless, Rosewood fretboard and maple neck are straight and true, 5 way switch is solid, S/S/H pickup config, has virually no buzz at all, thin neck, great action, bought this as a beginner package for my kid and I actually enjoy playing it as well, came with Rage 158 amp, strap, nice gig bag, stand, peavey patch cable, Korg tuner, and picks, for $350 CDN, what a buy, compared to the 429 dollar Squier 3 single pickup piece of crap in a box.

Play rock, and grunge, never had used live, but does come with me as a back up, it is not noisey on any setting, basically played on practice amp, super guitar for the money, about the same as Yamaha Pacifica, but cheaper. Some good crunch to it.

Picked up tuned and ready to play, only beef was that they forgot to pack my whammy bar and had to go back to the store to get it. Body, neck, fretboard, all perfect finish, not a single scratch anywhere

Since it is only a month old it has held up to me and my son wailing away on it, and being transported to lessons and school in a gig bag, never have dropped it yet, been taken care of and is still as new cond. All screws are still tight and holds tune very well...

Have had no problems, but the store where it was purchased is also an auth repair center, so I am sure there will be no problem. Their great! PS They are a Yamaha music store and recommended it for a starter axe over anything else, even some of the more expensive unit...such as the Fender Squier...and the Yamaha

Overall, in this price range, THERE IS NOTHING THAT WILL TOUCH IT. I loked at all that was available, this is the bang for your buck. If you are a starter, or buying for your kids...you and they will not be dissappointed in this, especially if you can get the promo pack. The Rage 158 is a decent little amp and will do perfect for practice and comes with a 5 year warranty

made in vietnam. 22 frets. I don't really like strat style bodys, but it's not bad I guess. I don't really know too much about the guitar. 3 single coils, 5-way selector switch, volume and tone knobs. tuners stay in tune pretty well. black w/ white 3-layer pickguard. truss rod adjusts from 23rd fret. kind of cool. not really a whole lot of SHAZAAM! to this guitar, just a cheap fender knock off.
Sound
:4
I play rock and blues mostly, and I use a peavey bandit 112. I don't know if its the pickups or the amp but I can't really get a good clean sound out of it. theres always way too much bass. there is a buzzing sound at the nut that drives me crazy. mostly on the 4th string. overall theres no real uniqueness in sound either.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:6
theres a few bumps when you run your finger along the top of the neck, where the fretwire sticks out a bit, but it's not really terrible. the back of the neck is unpainted and is pretty fast. the action is really low. probably the best thing about this guitar.
Reliability/Durability

when I bought this guitar used, it was in perfect condition. I have no idea how the guy kept it so mint, cause since I've had it it's gone to shit. I don't really take this guitar anywhere except lessons, and I take it in a gig bag. I don't even rock out with it when I'm at home. so theres absolutely no reason why all the screws should be coming out, right? the most noticable is the plate where the patch chord plugs in. the screws came loose, so I screwed them back in, but now, they don't even screw, they just pop right out because the wood isn't threaded. you know if you just pull a screw out of drywall? well thats what my guitar is like. the strap pegs are getting there too.
also, this guitar scratches really easily. I think it's the paint.

I bought this guitar as a package at Cosmo in Richmond Hill. I'm not sure where it was made, but somewhere in Asia for sure. It has 22 frets with dot inlays. It's a 5-way selector w/ S/S/H configuration. The neck is rosewood but im not sure about the body. Mine is black and the finish is excellent except for a small scratch at the cutaway part, but it's not that visible. The raptor's a strat and it comes with a tremolo, although i havent installed it yet b/c i havent learned how to use it. i actually bought this guitar in a package that came with a peavey rage 158, strings, picks, gig bag (kinda sucks, but MUCH better than the one that comes in the squier pack), strap, and tuner.
Sound
:9
The sound overall is pretty good, but i use the humbucker all the time so i dont use the other single coils. I play mainly punk and rock so the humbucker is great for that kinda music. Right now im using the peavey rage 158 that came with the guitar and it sounds good, but i havent exactly tried it with any other amps before so i wouldnt really know. Basically, the sound is great in that you can make a lot of different sounds with the pickup configurations.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:8
The action is pretty low and it is so much easier to play than my raimundo classical, which sucks by the way. So i didnt need to fix the action at all...there is no buzzing except when i put a capo on the first fret and i strum the open strings there is a buzz on the lower strings. Except for the scratch on the body and lots of scratches on the pickguard (the salesperson that the dust makes the scratches...??) theres nothing to complain about. nothing is loose or poorly made...of course i've only had it for a month now. the neck is extremely playable. at first i wanted a fender and i even tried it out but i decided it wouldnt be such a great idea to buy a fender as my first guitar. i never realized how great the neck was until i went to my friends house to play his fender strat and i realized the neck is so much thicker! maybe i just wasnt used to it but i like the raptor's neck much better.
Reliability/Durability
:7
it seems pretty durable, although i take care of my stuff pretty well since i would like to keep my first guitar forever, just as a sentimental sort of thing. the finish is good right now, but since finishes tend to be thin on cheaper guitars i dont think it'll last very long without scratches. i havent played it live nor do i think i ever will, but i dont think i would ever use it on a gig w/ out a backup...im not even sure if i ever had a gig i would use it. its not that its not a great guitar or ne thing, its just that im not an experienced player and thus cannot differentiate between the sounds of a fender and those of a peavey. so wut im trying to say is that if i ever were to have a gig i would use a more expensive, well known guitar, like a fender or at least an epiphone.
Customer Support

i've never dealt with the company but hopefully i will never have to. the warranty i think is 3 years...but obviously i would be much more satisfied if it were a lifetime warranty.

I've been playing for 3 months now, but for the first two i was playing the classical and that really frustrated me. if it were stolen i wouldnt it buy it again because there are lots of other beginner guitars to choose from. initially i was going to go for the yamaha pacifica 112 because all the reviews i had read (i read MANY, considering i did two months of research before going out to buy a guitar) only had good things to say about it. but when i went to the store i decided a package would be a better idea since it came with the amp. i was trying to choose between the squier pack and the peavey one and my friend, whose been playing for three years, told me to get the peavey b/c it came with the humbucker...so i got it and im glad i did cuz the squier gig bag sucks! i think my next electric will be an epiphone g400.

having played all kinds of awesome guitars, this doesnt deserve a 10, but for the money......wow this guitar is really something. the tuners on it are much better than any super low end electric ive ever seen. i played every one of these in the shop to find the best neck. thats what u must understand, every guitar is made different, steve vai went through hundreds of strats to find the perfect one. it turned out to be a japanese squire. anyway, the volume, and tone knob work perfectly, the tremolo is just like any other settled tremolo, nothing super nice or anything, but good for the money.
Sound
:10
uh, sounds better than most guitars ive heard. everyone should know by now that one single coil is noisy. 2 single coils negative and positive put together elimites the hum. thats what a humbucker is, and thats what 2 singles on the right position does. just mess around with it.....its good for classic rock, jazz, metal, grunge, hard rock, anything. very versitile instrument. just depends what amp u use, and how u use it.
i wouldnt recommend any digital stomp boxes if u got the $ for a real amp. these dumb kids argue with me and say "no stomp boxes are the real thing! they have wires and everything!" i laugh. learn about tube amps if u dont know anything about them. a POS distotion pedal is trash. solid state amps are getting better, but....they havent beaten the tubes yet. if u have a decent solid state amp this will sound fine on it.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:9
action was slightly too high for me, i lowered it when i got home. no fret wires poking out on the edges and shit, well made neck. everything is perfectly in tact. no fret buzz. but one other raptor plus i tried in the shop had a couple frets that buzzed, just play everything u can b4 u buy anything. dont buy a guitar u cant try.

This guitar has 5 way switch with a tone and volume knobs, 21 frets, I found that some of the wiring on the switch may have to be soldered better than when you get it. This guitar has a humbucker and 2 single coils arranged in h-s-s. Its good for just about any kind of music.

I PLAY A LOT OF BON JOVI AND AEROSMITH AND SOME NIRVANA IT WORKS GOOD FOR ALL OF IT. I USE A MARSHALL MG DFX30 WHEN ON THE FIRST SWITCH WHICH IS THE HUMBUCKER I THINK SOUNDS THE BEST WHILE ON DISTORTION. ALL THE WAY UP SOUNDS GOOD ON CLEAN. THE PICKUPS ARE A LITTLE NOISY BUT NOT TOO BAD. THE FRETS BUZZ SOMETIMES BUT COMPARED TO OTHER GUITARS IN THIS PRICE RANGE THIS ONE BEATS THEM ALL.
