Made in Chine. It has a perfectly acceptable 21 frets, not perfect for those extra-high solos but suitable for most things. Solid top with a solid red finish, one volume and one one, humbucker at the bridge with single coils at the middle and neck, maple neck (not brilliant quality, but fairly fast and durable), unknown body wood, oh-so-slightly sharper than a strat shape, which I really like, to be honest, and with good comfort contours it's, well, comfortable. Tremolo bridge, not great, but gets the job done. Non-locking tuners, I think. Frets are average size, comes with regular 25 and a half inch scale. Comes with gig-bag, but I can't remember what else, this thing is pretty old.

Sound : 5
I play classic metal, think def leppard and Van Halen. Trough the amp It came with in the starter pack, this sounds pretty good, with a gritty sound, which can ascend to a monster metal sound or a quiet, admittedly poor clean sound. HOWEVER. When I play this through my large pair of Martin Audio amps, through a Boss effects pedal, it has no guts at all, lacking inexcusably in lows. No noise on the starter amp. The pickups are awful, though, and I'm searching for a replacement set.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The strings wer fantastically low. This is a defining feature on the guitar, really. Truss rod was fine. Bridge pickup was loose, that was about the only real problem.

Reliability/Durability : 4
Mmkay, this is awful. I've had this fr a while, say a couple of years, and it's in a horrendous state. Looking accross the room at it...
-The bridge saddles are loose and worn
-one of them has completely come off
-The strings are continually being broken off at the nut
-The tone knob has fallen off
-and the switch has broken in half
It's easy enough to fix, though.
I'd never take this thing live because something may easily break off on-stage.
However, if you like John Entwistle-esque smashing of your instruments, this baby's spectacular.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Actually, I should've.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing for a year or so (my bother's been playing for two, this is his) and this is pretty average. I also own a Squier Telecaster, which I've owned for far longer (it being my Dad's...), and it's stayed in much better condition, and has a more consistent sound. If it were stolen or lost, I would simply continue saving for a more expensive piece of kit, as in the price range this comes in, there isn't really much by way of brilliant guitars. I love the sound of it through the amp it came with, but if it breaks even one more time, I will not spend my time fixing it as it will just break again.

It's a strat- sunburst 22 fret. 3 single coil pickups (older model, I guess) and 5-way controller switch, with 1 volume control and 2 tone controls. The woods? no clue. I have a sieko tuner that works well- plug it in kind. Thin neck. I added a pick holder behind the guitar next to the tuning pegs- good spot to put it.

Sound : 7
i play rythym in a strange band- we cover jimi hendrix, led zeppelin all the way to metallica, and we write songs of jazz with a beethoven influence, but the pick style is "funkish". it's a versatile style. i don't have any effect pedals yet, and i don't even HAVE an amp- i have to use my microbass amp, so i really don't change the sound that much (i borrow my friend's a lot, though- which is a 15w marshall). the pickups are consisitent though, and i've never had huge amounts of trouble with feedback, even w/o humbuckers.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
I bought it used, but it was in good condition still. there are only a few notable problems- my tuning peg on the 3rd string is messed up (loose) so that when I do consecutive bends on that string it falls out of town. the pickup selector switch will sometimes get stuck on position 1, and the cord input plug gets loose. unscrew the unit, and THEN tighten it to avoid breaking the wires. however, these problems are all minor, and avoidable when I maintanence the guitar- i don't really care b/c i paid so little for it.

Reliability/Durability : 7
live? i hope to not use it live, unless maybe a backup. i have a friend w/ a gibson les paul that i use frequently, so i'd borrow his for live shows, but i'd feel confident if i needed my raptor for a drop d song, e flat or just a backup. it seems like it should hold for a while, as long as i keep the minor things minor. the strap buttons are still solid, which is good. i don't think i'd ever depend on a guitar w/o a backup, whether it be a gibson or peavey- there are just too many chances. i don't think i'd choose to play this guitar over many guitars, however.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i've never had to deal with the company, but i might to try to get a wammy bar. I can't find one ANYWHERE darnit. i bought it used, and i doubt the warrenty is still on, but i hope i won't ever need it.

Overall Rating : 9
i've been playing for about 1 year. if it were stolen... i'd have to depend on my acoustic until i could buy something new. actually, i'd track down the mo-fu that stole the guitar and teach him a lesson. it's much more than any "guitar" to me. it's a very versatile instrument, and can handle my playing. i use diaddario 9-gauge, and it picks up 9 alright. i'm saving my money for an epiphone or ibanez- care to donate? this guitar is a great beginner guitar. don't depend on it to carry you to hollywood, but it's awesome for road trips and taken places- it can take a beating w/o you getting all worried that it'll break. i've dropped it... a few times- the paint chipped and that's it- it still plays fine. good kick for the buck.

I got this guiatr as a gift from my uncle. It was most certanly made by children slaves in china or indonesia. It has a very soft, low quality sawdust body and a nasty looking maple bolt on neck.
3 single coil pickups, tone\vol, pickup switch.

A thin, low quality strat tremolo. Neck thats EXTREMELY thin and unstable.....MUCH thinner than my Ibanez' neck.

Just standard features for a low quality strat clone.

Sound : 1
This guitar is just a toy. It has a veryt very hollow, thin sawdust body and a ultra thin maple neck, so the tone is EXTREMELY thin and lifeless. The brigde pickup was.....almost useable, but the neck\middle pickups are extremely quiet and dark.

I opened the guitar, and i saw that the neck\middle pickups had burn marks on it! The has been a sloppy asian who "accidentaly" has de-gaussed the pickups magnet!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
The guitar came with a loose neck, a brigde which screws was so loose you could rattle it. The wood is of soft sawdust, and the neck is made of ugly, brown striped maple with lots of knots. The fingerboard is some kind of rosewood too, and its also full of knots.

There is several pickguard schrew holes in the body that has been cut two places- like * *. That means that they ahve been sloppy with cyutting teh holes, so they had to do it twice.

The tuning pegs are loose, the nut was filed sharp, so that the strings broke. The Pickups were also de-gaussed, making them unusable.
The pots were also very scratchy, and there was alot of bad soldering inside it.

And btw, teh control room were filled with humps of sawdust and paint, and the body wee routed for a humbucker, even though teh pickguard were S-S-S, and teh guitar came with an SC in teh brigde position.

Reliability/Durability : 1
This guitar is NOT going to last. Nothing sticks to teh saw dust body, not even the brigde or neck, which is starting to fall off. The strap buttons actually fell out of the guitar when i was playing it.
The finish is very very thin, and its thicker some places than other.
I will never use this guitar on a gig.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never spoke to Peavey.

Overall Rating : 1
Ive been playing 9 years now. This is the worst guitar ive played and owned.....EVER. If it were stolen, i would get it back.

This guitar is just a toy. I will use it as a "experiment" guitar, and install some sick pickups in it just to try them.

Uncles, moms and dads, never buy this guitar to your kids. Thank you.

I have an EXP Raptor Plus, made in China 2003, 21 Fret, Transparent Red, looks awesome and is flawless, Rosewood fretboard and maple neck are straight and true, 5 way switch is solid, S/S/H pickup config, has virually no buzz at all, thin neck, great action, bought this as a beginner package for my kid and I actually enjoy playing it as well, came with Rage 158 amp, strap, nice gig bag, stand, peavey patch cable, Korg tuner, and picks, for $350 CDN, what a buy, compared to the 429 dollar Squier 3 single pickup piece of crap in a box.

Sound : 9
Play rock, and grunge, never had used live, but does come with me as a back up, it is not noisey on any setting, basically played on practice amp, super guitar for the money, about the same as Yamaha Pacifica, but cheaper. Some good crunch to it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Picked up tuned and ready to play, only beef was that they forgot to pack my whammy bar and had to go back to the store to get it. Body, neck, fretboard, all perfect finish, not a single scratch anywhere

Reliability/Durability : 9
Since it is only a month old it has held up to me and my son wailing away on it, and being transported to lessons and school in a gig bag, never have dropped it yet, been taken care of and is still as new cond. All screws are still tight and holds tune very well...

Customer Support : 10
Have had no problems, but the store where it was purchased is also an auth repair center, so I am sure there will be no problem. Their great! PS They are a Yamaha music store and recommended it for a starter axe over anything else, even some of the more expensive unit...such as the Fender Squier...and the Yamaha

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, in this price range, THERE IS NOTHING THAT WILL TOUCH IT. I loked at all that was available, this is the bang for your buck. If you are a starter, or buying for your kids...you and they will not be dissappointed in this, especially if you can get the promo pack. The Rage 158 is a decent little amp and will do perfect for practice and comes with a 5 year warranty

made in vietnam. 22 frets. I don't really like strat style bodys, but it's not bad I guess. I don't really know too much about the guitar. 3 single coils, 5-way selector switch, volume and tone knobs. tuners stay in tune pretty well. black w/ white 3-layer pickguard. truss rod adjusts from 23rd fret. kind of cool. not really a whole lot of SHAZAAM! to this guitar, just a cheap fender knock off.

Sound : 4
I play rock and blues mostly, and I use a peavey bandit 112. I don't know if its the pickups or the amp but I can't really get a good clean sound out of it. theres always way too much bass. there is a buzzing sound at the nut that drives me crazy. mostly on the 4th string. overall theres no real uniqueness in sound either.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
theres a few bumps when you run your finger along the top of the neck, where the fretwire sticks out a bit, but it's not really terrible. the back of the neck is unpainted and is pretty fast. the action is really low. probably the best thing about this guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 2
when I bought this guitar used, it was in perfect condition. I have no idea how the guy kept it so mint, cause since I've had it it's gone to shit. I don't really take this guitar anywhere except lessons, and I take it in a gig bag. I don't even rock out with it when I'm at home. so theres absolutely no reason why all the screws should be coming out, right? the most noticable is the plate where the patch chord plugs in. the screws came loose, so I screwed them back in, but now, they don't even screw, they just pop right out because the wood isn't threaded. you know if you just pull a screw out of drywall? well thats what my guitar is like. the strap pegs are getting there too.

also, this guitar scratches really easily. I think it's the paint.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I bought this used so I don't think it's got a warranty on it. I haven't contacted the company about it yet though.

Overall Rating : 4
I wouldn't really have chosen this guitar for myself, but my girlfriend bought it for me for our 1 year anniversary, so I can't really sell it or anything. I would have prefered an archtop or maybe a semihollow telecaster.

I bought this guitar as a package at Cosmo in Richmond Hill. I'm not sure where it was made, but somewhere in Asia for sure. It has 22 frets with dot inlays. It's a 5-way selector w/ S/S/H configuration. The neck is rosewood but im not sure about the body. Mine is black and the finish is excellent except for a small scratch at the cutaway part, but it's not that visible. The raptor's a strat and it comes with a tremolo, although i havent installed it yet b/c i havent learned how to use it. i actually bought this guitar in a package that came with a peavey rage 158, strings, picks, gig bag (kinda sucks, but MUCH better than the one that comes in the squier pack), strap, and tuner.

Sound : 9
The sound overall is pretty good, but i use the humbucker all the time so i dont use the other single coils. I play mainly punk and rock so the humbucker is great for that kinda music. Right now im using the peavey rage 158 that came with the guitar and it sounds good, but i havent exactly tried it with any other amps before so i wouldnt really know. Basically, the sound is great in that you can make a lot of different sounds with the pickup configurations.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action is pretty low and it is so much easier to play than my raimundo classical, which sucks by the way. So i didnt need to fix the action at all...there is no buzzing except when i put a capo on the first fret and i strum the open strings there is a buzz on the lower strings. Except for the scratch on the body and lots of scratches on the pickguard (the salesperson that the dust makes the scratches...??) theres nothing to complain about. nothing is loose or poorly made...of course i've only had it for a month now. the neck is extremely playable. at first i wanted a fender and i even tried it out but i decided it wouldnt be such a great idea to buy a fender as my first guitar. i never realized how great the neck was until i went to my friends house to play his fender strat and i realized the neck is so much thicker! maybe i just wasnt used to it but i like the raptor's neck much better.

Reliability/Durability : 7
it seems pretty durable, although i take care of my stuff pretty well since i would like to keep my first guitar forever, just as a sentimental sort of thing. the finish is good right now, but since finishes tend to be thin on cheaper guitars i dont think it'll last very long without scratches. i havent played it live nor do i think i ever will, but i dont think i would ever use it on a gig w/ out a backup...im not even sure if i ever had a gig i would use it. its not that its not a great guitar or ne thing, its just that im not an experienced player and thus cannot differentiate between the sounds of a fender and those of a peavey. so wut im trying to say is that if i ever were to have a gig i would use a more expensive, well known guitar, like a fender or at least an epiphone.

Customer Support : 8
i've never dealt with the company but hopefully i will never have to. the warranty i think is 3 years...but obviously i would be much more satisfied if it were a lifetime warranty.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for 3 months now, but for the first two i was playing the classical and that really frustrated me. if it were stolen i wouldnt it buy it again because there are lots of other beginner guitars to choose from. initially i was going to go for the yamaha pacifica 112 because all the reviews i had read (i read MANY, considering i did two months of research before going out to buy a guitar) only had good things to say about it. but when i went to the store i decided a package would be a better idea since it came with the amp. i was trying to choose between the squier pack and the peavey one and my friend, whose been playing for three years, told me to get the peavey b/c it came with the humbucker...so i got it and im glad i did cuz the squier gig bag sucks! i think my next electric will be an epiphone g400.

having played all kinds of awesome guitars, this doesnt deserve a 10, but for the money......wow this guitar is really something. the tuners on it are much better than any super low end electric ive ever seen. i played every one of these in the shop to find the best neck. thats what u must understand, every guitar is made different, steve vai went through hundreds of strats to find the perfect one. it turned out to be a japanese squire. anyway, the volume, and tone knob work perfectly, the tremolo is just like any other settled tremolo, nothing super nice or anything, but good for the money.

Sound : 10
uh, sounds better than most guitars ive heard. everyone should know by now that one single coil is noisy. 2 single coils negative and positive put together elimites the hum. thats what a humbucker is, and thats what 2 singles on the right position does. just mess around with it.....its good for classic rock, jazz, metal, grunge, hard rock, anything. very versitile instrument. just depends what amp u use, and how u use it.

i wouldnt recommend any digital stomp boxes if u got the $ for a real amp. these dumb kids argue with me and say "no stomp boxes are the real thing! they have wires and everything!" i laugh. learn about tube amps if u dont know anything about them. a POS distotion pedal is trash. solid state amps are getting better, but....they havent beaten the tubes yet. if u have a decent solid state amp this will sound fine on it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
action was slightly too high for me, i lowered it when i got home. no fret wires poking out on the edges and shit, well made neck. everything is perfectly in tact. no fret buzz. but one other raptor plus i tried in the shop had a couple frets that buzzed, just play everything u can b4 u buy anything. dont buy a guitar u cant try.

Reliability/Durability : 10
gimmie a break, just take care of your shit. its a guitar. u gonna throw it around to test its reliability/durability?

Customer Support : No Opinion
dont know.

Overall Rating : 10
i dont know what to say besides it was the best 99 bux ive ever spent in my life. just remember, b4 u go out and buy a $2000 guitar, try EVERYTHING.

This guitar has 5 way switch with a tone and volume knobs, 21 frets, I found that some of the wiring on the switch may have to be soldered better than when you get it. This guitar has a humbucker and 2 single coils arranged in h-s-s. Its good for just about any kind of music.

Sound : 9
I PLAY A LOT OF BON JOVI AND AEROSMITH AND SOME NIRVANA IT WORKS GOOD FOR ALL OF IT. I USE A MARSHALL MG DFX30 WHEN ON THE FIRST SWITCH WHICH IS THE HUMBUCKER I THINK SOUNDS THE BEST WHILE ON DISTORTION. ALL THE WAY UP SOUNDS GOOD ON CLEAN. THE PICKUPS ARE A LITTLE NOISY BUT NOT TOO BAD. THE FRETS BUZZ SOMETIMES BUT COMPARED TO OTHER GUITARS IN THIS PRICE RANGE THIS ONE BEATS THEM ALL.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
THE ACTION ON THIS GUITAR IS GREAT. IVE HAD IT FOR ONLY SIX MONTHS BUT IT IS STILL HOLDING UP. THE FINISH IS REALLY NICE YOU CAN GET IT IN TRANSPARENT RED OR BLUE. YOU DONT WANT TO DROP THIS GUITAR THE STRAP FELL OFF OF MINE AND IT FELL ON A GLASS TABLE AND TOOK A LITTLE NICK OUT OF IT WHICH COST ME TOO MUCH TO FIX IT.WHEN YOU BUY IT IT SHOULD BE READY TO GO.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I WOULD AND HAVE PLAYED THIS GUITAR LIVE WITH NO BACKUPS. YOU MIGHT NEED TO TIGHTEN THE STRAP BUTTONS BUT OTHER THAN THAT THIS WILL LAST FOREVER AND WITHSATND ANY LIVE SHOW.

I love this guitar. It has a nice slim neck, and it is fast-playing. I love the picups, they are in S-S-H setup. I wish it was H-S-H but oh well. I can't complain for $150. 21 frets. Rosewood fingerboard. Nice stuff here. For cheap.

Sound : 8
This sounds pretty good. It sounds good at the bridge humbucker. I haven't played it on distortion yet, but I'm sure it'll sound real nice. When it's clean, it sounds pretty crisp.

i dont know what year it was made, probably 2000-2001. made in vietnam but dont seem to ruin it much. 24 frets i think (i dont normally go that far up) its a nice finish on it. although sometimes the selector is a little dodgy but its good to go. tuners a little rubbish but easily repelaced. pickups work well but i would have preferred flat instead of staggered. good neck, frets buzz a little too but its only noticeable at a loud volume. it came with a case, nylon strap, and tremelo.

Sound : 9
i play anything from punk to metal, bit or rock n roll and it copes rather well id say. it has a good sound, sometimes a little twangy but nothing to worry bout. its definately bright. i like the bridge pick up, i find it great for offspring.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
it was set up expertly from the factory and sounded great just out of the box. ive adjusted the pickups but fora starter they are good. a really good black paint job.

Reliability/Durability : 8
i dunno if it will do live, but it seems hardy enough, hell i swing it around a bit. id use ti whenevwer i could really.

What the other kids said. Most likely Korean/Taiwanese/Vietnamese/whatever produced guitar, just a simple strat copy. It has a nice, playable neck, great finish (the asians are good on finishes) the rest is explained by the other reviews here. Very nice beginner.

Sound : 6
Typical strat sound, nothing new. Good for grunge like nirvana & pearl jam. The pickups aren't all that, but passable. I dont like the volume levels on it sometimes and it doesnt handle the sound well when on high gain & distortion. Clear sound is nice however, especially the middle pickup excels. The buzz is just nothing but horrible. the strings buzz like a bumblebee, especially the lower strings.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
everything plays well and average, the action is pretty low and very good actually. pickups were A-OK, no problems. the but and tuners hoiwever had some flaws, the nut making the strings ring a lot and the tuners having a damn hard time keeping the strings in tune. they were loose to tune as well.
The finish is magnificent, and stays to this day, even though ive had this bugger for 3 years. the asians really have a thing for finishes.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Lasts like a mofo, its solid and well crafted in that matter. the strap screws areloose, and i had to get new ones after a few months just cause they kept slipping off, so did the strap itself.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Overall, its a very presentable beginner electric, for those kids who want to take it one step further. The neck is great and playable as an ibanez, which is imperative in a beginner. Its not too much to keep though, and after 2 years you might as well sell it to someone else to enjoy and get a new, better one to move up to the intermediate stuff. Otherwise its a really cheap, usable and an allround usable axe.

This guitar was made in japan in 2000(I think)
Its a pretty basic guitar but still its a good all-rounder.
Basic strat body style, has a maple neck with rose wood finger bord and a satin body finish.
5 way selecter, volume and tone controls.
Great for $250 Aus Dollars.

Sound : 9
This guitar suits alot of different music styles from stuff like hendrix to heavy metal.
You can make some great sounds with this baby, not to much variety though.
I've never had any dislikes for this guitar, it's great for a beginners guitar

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Guitar was in intonation, pick-ups where at a good height there weren't any flaws in the wood although the neck finish could be a bit smoother.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar has been realiable for me it was my first guitar and played my first gig with it.
Had it for 5 years now still seems to have a good finish, the strap buttons havent come out.
I feel i can depened on this guitar, ive played at many gigs with out back-ups, but now I use it as a back-up.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 5 years now and moved on from my peavey to a pacifica 604w which is also great value for a more intermediate guitarist and should be considered.
I have a strong feeling that ill keep it for life, and if it where stolen i would defiantly consider a new one.
This guitar is a great beginners guitar great things can be achieved with it.
There's no doubt about it this is really great value and im surprised it hasn't got a more expensive price tag on it.

I think it was made 2001, 21 fres, white, three S/S/S, 5-way switch, Vietnam production. Solid top, i guess you know what we're talking about ... No fancy things, just basics.

Sound : 7
You know, i bought it for 100 Euro new in a store. I have gear like fender strat, gibson les paul, jackson an i find myself sometimes (yeah, often) playing this small cheapy peavey. It sounds OK. No wonders, just a brave Strat sound. Don't expect the fulminants. It is OK, it sounds good. Clear, sparkling, some twang, everything is there. No miracles, just solid solid work. The most important thing for me is - it has a gibson scale, not fender, and as i am primarily gibson player, i don't have to switch to another , u know, frets distances, so on. I play like it was my les paul's neck, what comes out is Strat sound. (OK, there are differences - the peavey has a flat neck <<which is very very nice!>>).
Yes, indeed - thin neck, not wide, flat. Good

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Very good. I'm pretty strong guy with full power and able to pull 1/2 up on, say Epiphone just by holding the neck to tight. This won't happen with this one, albeit you wouldn't expect it just by watching. It looks small, fragile. It is not. Very solidly built. Nice finish, very clean. I gonna give it a 10. At this price, it's unbelivable.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Very reliable.
Is really very solidly built.
Never had a problem.
It will last years and years, i think

Customer Support : No Opinion
no idea

Overall Rating : 9
i' ve been playing for 15 years, rock, metal, blues.
If it were stolen i would try another one (i mean from these peaveys) and buy it.
My favourite feature is - u play the gibson "mensure" on a strat.
That's wonderful.

Probably made 2001, in Vietnam, 21 frets, solid top, 1 volume, 1 tone, 5 way selector switch. Just he ones that came with it on the pickups, presume its Peavey's own. Passive electronics, i dont wanna pay for batteries!Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard. I got a bag, 10ft cabel, and strap with it.

Sound : 9
ITs a good sound. Nothing really wrong with it. I'd get the frets done if i were you, cos it buzzes a bit. I've nopt got a great amp so its hard to REALLY tell. it can make some good sounds. It can nail the offspring sounds, through to jimi hendrix style. I like it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
I got it all set up nice and pretty!everything was ready straight out the box! ITs really good set-up.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The strings lasted 3 months before one broke, pretty good considering i paly quite hard and often. feels like it was built to last. the fingerboard fades where u play more, but i like it so i don't mind. Strap tends to come off a little more than i would like. i can depend on it. always works. but ive not done a gig yet!

Customer Support : 6
Never deal directly with the company!I've ogt a 5 year warranty.

Overall Rating : 10
ITs a really good guitar for the beginner. If you jsut wanna play, then its good, and then you can look impressive. ITs a mega deal!!!

Great guitar for a starter!!! It has a tight switch as well.

Sound : 9
The guitar itself without a pedal all enhancer can make sounds from Slipknot to Springstein.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The only complaint is that the pickup wasn't that good with high gain.

Note: I'm rating this for a beginer. Not an advanced player.

This is THE best beginer guitar you can get!

It doesn't have a lot of features, its more of an beginner guitar. Three single coil pickups, no humbuckes. What i like about it is that it has a nice neck adjustment design. Instead of having to use a certain sized allen rench to adjust it you juist use a little metal rod to turn this little wheel at the bottom of the fret board not the top. It has a rose wood neck that is pretty good, not the best. Overall for a beginner guitar it's pretty good.

Sound : 8
This guitar sounds a lot like a strat. At first it was a little noisy and had some feedback, but i tweaked it a little and it doesn't seem to bother me anymore. It has a very nice sound. I have a multieffects pedal and it sounds good on most of the effects on the pedal. It has a good sound overall.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
When I got it was fine, except the neck was adjusted a little high, but that is the place i bought it fault. Everything else is fine. The paint held up great. I bang my guitar into everything and i don't even have a scratch on it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I wouldn't see why this guitar wouldn't be great for live preformence. Very reliable. The strap buttons were fine, but i reaplaced them with snap on strap hooks for safety because my guitar kept slipping off the strap.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
The guitar is great for a beginner. I am now looking into buying a new one that has a little more features. Once you get better at playing you won't want to use this guitar anyomore, but if you are just starting out it's a great deal.

This guitar was made in 2000, Taiwan as I recall, but I could be wrong. Truth be told, I don't know much about what it's made of, but whatever it is, it works.
21 fret neck (maple?). The finish on the neck feels wierd, but I have grown to like it. The neck is one of the guitar's best features. It's pretty thin and just feels right.
There are three single coil pickups, a five way selector, and pots for volume and tone. There is a plain old tremolo on it, but I have never used it. The tuners are well made for a guitar this cheap.
The body is double cutaway, but rather different than anything else out there. Peavey is good at that. There really is not much to this guitar, but that can be a good thing.

Sound : 10
I would not recomend this guitar for metal. It just won't do the right sound. For anything else (jazz, surf, alternative...), it does fine. I mostly play stuff like U2, Sixpence NTR, King's X, and Room Full of Walters on it.
This guitar's best sound is a clean one. It is absolutely beautiful on the clean channel. Just gorgeous.
The rear pickup is twangy and jangly at any tone setting and I plan to replace it. The rest will likely stay. I really like the middle pickup and I use it more than the other two. Note that when two pickups ar on, they hum-cancel. Also not that the pickups are fairly quiet by themselves. As long as I don't get near a CRT, the are almost silent.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Factory setup was perfect (Unlike the Steinbeger GT I traded for the Peavey), action low...it was perfect.
The finish is nothing special, but it looks neat and there are no flaws in it (Again, unlike the Steinberger GT I had).
If I seem disillusioned with a ceratin guitar here, I was. This new one is SO much better.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have not played it at any gigs yet, but I will soon. This thing seems to be pretty tough and I have no doubts about it at all. The strap buttons are HUGE. It took some work to get the strap on and unless I try, it ain't coming off. I have had no problems in the two months I've had it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them, but all my electrics are Peaveys. They make good stuff. I have no clue about the warranty, but I don't think I'll need it.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for over three years now. I play through a Fender Automatic GT but I need a bigger amp soon.
If this guitar was stolen, I would replace it ASAP and beat the SOB who took it. The neck and action are what sold me on it. I was looking to ditch my Steinberger and looked at other low-end stuff from Yamaha (I almost bought the Pacifica 112), Ibanez (blah), Epiphone (50/50), and Squier/Fender (yuck).
I plan on replacing the bridge pickup with a Seymore Duncan Hot Rails. I may replace the rest with Duncan or Fender Lace units.

just a simple star copy. sss pickup configuration, 21 frets, 1 volume 1 tone knob.

Sound : 8
my set up is the peavey-ibanez phasor-ds1-crate gx15r. has really nice clean sound. my playin style is a kinda punk/indurstrial mix and this guitar does not always work in distortion. the bridge pickup is not connected to the tone knob so it is always really bright. and the rest of the pickup positions sometimes dont sound bright enough. the tremelo does a good job.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
it was setup really nicely by the factory. i got it setup anyway and i am wishing i hadnt. the g string has tons of fret buzz but none of the other strings do. finish is shiny, i guess thats good.

Reliability/Durability : 9
i think it is pretty reliable. i havnt gigged with it yet but have had a number of practices and nothing has gone wrong in that respect.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 8
this is my first and only guitar. i didnt compare a whole lot when i bought it cuz i didnt know what i was lookin for, it was cheep and sounded pretty good. i like the clean sound alot. this is a really nice guitar to be used as a strat for leads and such. not such a great guitar for rhythem. has a variety of tones on it. overall a good guitar.

1998 (9?), Made in Korea, 21 fets, Multi-laminated body, 5-way selector, S/S/S, one volume, one tone, strat copy, covered tuner, thin frets, 25 1/2 scale. This guitar has oversized pole pieces on the pickup and truss adjustment at the base of the neck. Simple, no frills.

Sound : 6
I'm learning the blues. This strat suits this style. I have a Squire Sidekick amp, but I use a headphone most of the time. The single coils hums a lot, even in hum cancel mode. I live next to a power transfomer, so that may be the cause. I had to ground myself to get rid of all the hums. (I tried wearing an anti-static grounding strap, but the resistance is too high. So, I built a grouding plate to step on with my bare foot when I play. Noise goes away as long as I keep my foot on the plate. I have no heat in the house, so playing with one bare foot on cold aluminum is a real pain in the foot. I may have to amputate the foot after this winter.) I can dial a wide range of tones from this strat. The oversized pole pieces may be the reason for both the wide tonal variations and the annoying hums.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The high strings would buzz against higher frets when fretted at a lower fret, so I re-adjusted the neck relief, action, and intonation.
A screw for holding the tuning key was missing when I got the guitar. The guitar shop had Peavy send me a new screw. But, I couldn't get the new screw into the stock. It turned out that the previous screw head broke off and left the stem of the screw inside the stock. So, I had to drill a new hole to fit the new screw.
The rosewood finger board is not smooth. The high strings tend to catch in the grains when I bend the strings.
The tremolo unit was on high tension when I bought the guitar. I couldn't bend the pitch up, only down. I had to re-spring the unit so I can bend up. But, the pitch would not return to what it was before the bend.

Reliability/Durability : 7
I've never played live. I have no trouble, except for a broken string. The tuners are cheap, but holds the tune.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No contact.

Overall Rating : 7
This is my first guitar. I've been playing for 7 months. I had to tweak a few things here and there on this guitar. Except for the humming problems, this is a nice beginner's guitar. If this guitar were stolen. I would go buy a different Strat.

A korean copy of a strat. Has three single coil pickups, the factory pickups sound pretty good. Controls: one volume, one tone (I know the real strats have 2 but the other ones useless), and a 5-way pickup selector. The neck is a little thin and the scale is small but it feels great. It's tremollo holds the tune decently. It has a nice black finish on it.

Sound : 10
The sound on this guitar is excellent for the price I paid. With the controls on the guitar and a small Peavey practice amp I have, I could dial in almost any sound I wanted, from metal to nice, clean tones. It doesn't have the powerfull feal of a guitar with humbuckers but you could work around that with a good distortion pedal.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar came close to perfect out of the factory. The paint wasn't splattered all over the place and the finish wasn't scratched. The strings on it were nice. The pickups required little if any adjustment.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is built like a rock. I'm a little bit of a klutz and I've put this guitar through a lot. Its paint scratches a little easily but it stays on pretty good, a little polish or wax will fix it right up. I would probably bring a backup to a live gig just incase you need a different tuning but other than that I would play with this live. The cord seems to fall out whenever I jump around a lot but its not a big problem.

Overall Rating : 10
This is a wonderfull guitar for beginners and pros alike. I've been playing for 2 years now and its stood up the entire time. Compared to other guitars in its price range, its one of the best.

1997 korean strat copy, lacking a second (useless anyway) tone knob. rosewood 21 fretboard is nice, wammy bar holds tune within reason
the burgundy sparkle color is really cool.

with my crate gx-40c+, and the guitar's 5-way switch, i can dial almost any sound you can dream of. period.

1 year limited warranty on electronics, lifetime on wood

great guitar for those who don't require humbuckers, and, at least occasionally, play with a clean sound (punks and metal heads need not apply)
