I was trying to locate a Gretsch Electromatic Hollowbody Double Cutaway guitar and was reluctant to order at a distance over the internet. Just on the off chance I popped into a local guitar dealer and the first guitar I saw hanging on a rack was the Peerless Tonemaster Custom....the very same guitar!! The dealer enthusiastically explained the connection and even hinted that the Peerless was better than current Gretsch production. It was a beautiful Walnut high gloss finish with gold hardware, Bigsby etc. Solid Maple top...laminated back and sides, maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard...medium frets well finished with no sharp edges. Twin H/B pickups with 3 volume, 1 tone and a toggle switch.

I play a variety of styles from blues through country rock to rockabilly...the reason for purchasing this guitar. This is a big bodied guitar which requires an appropriate attitude when playing...the quality of the wood and electrics shows in the tone produced...very good accoustically and plenty of variation possible by selecting and adjusting each pickup individually or together. I play through Marshall Valvestate and Vox Valvetronics amps with EHX Echo for the traditional Rock 'n Roll Scotty Moore, Cliff Gallup sound....this guitar sounds really good with that set up. As I expected from previous experience with Korean and Chinese mfg archtops...the neck pickup is very bass heavy so I am experimenting with a Behringer EQ pedal which seems to do the trick. This is my first Bigsby fitted guitar...great fun! with a vintage vibe and stunning looks.

Set-up was 100% from the shop with great attention to detail. Action was about right for me with the offer of free set-ups for life for the cost of strings only. I initially thought I might 'go lite' with the strings..currently 11-52...but have since got used to them as matching the characterisitcs of the guitar very well. I cannot fault the finish apart from a few metal flaws on the Bigsby...really excellent in general.

This guitar should stand live playing ok, although with the gold fittings etc it is tempting to just sit looking at it! Typical for this price level the jack socket is rubbish and undoes very easily...it will need beefing up with a professional one at some point. The gold plating on the Bigsby will probably wear off quite quickly too. Generally a great looking guitar visually with expected shortfalls in one or two details.

I have been playing for 40yrs, electrics and accoustics from oriental, uk and usa mfgs. I would replace this guitar if lost or stolen...it has a genuine quality feel, I love the wood finish and sheer luxury of it..it feels good played on my knee or strapped on and standing...the hollow body gives a pleasing vibration. Great to find a manufacturer good at making quality archtops!

My first Peerless Guitar...and what a beauty. Completely hollow bodied double cutaway just like a country gent! All gold hardware. Grover tuners, bigsby, two Gretsch like humbuckers, 2 vol controls and a master vol control and a tone control. A walnut coloured body with a solid top. Bound f-holes. MOP inlays on the fretboard and superb binding all the way round.Came with a very plush hard case and my friends all say the whole thing just oozes class!!

I play all types of music from blues thru' rock ,n, roll and some Led Zep. Bought this speciffically for playing 1960's type sounds such as early Beatles and Duane Eddy kind of stuff. Fulfills all these rolls almost spot on. Have only really overdriven it once and it fed back brilliantly.

Have been playing off and on since I was 16...am 44 now(old man). I also own a 335 knock off(Tanglewood AS35)which is also pretty good but a heavy beast! I use a Vox AD30vt amp and a Zoom G1 pedal. The Peerless sounds best when the Vox is on its Fender 2-12 setting although for the mersey beat sound the AC-30 setting gives it the right sound. When i put this guitar on I feel a little like George Harrison...it looks almost the same as his...lol The only thing I wish it had was a coloured pick guard.....the standard one is clear...a nice cream one would really set it off!

Sounds awesome with the gretsch duel filtertron pick ups! the neck p/u is beautiful toned work of sound! mellow and crisp , i know its a oxymoron but what i play style wise is a lil more rock and its sweet toned! alli can say! the bridge is sharp my thought here is more balls on this pick up for rock tone! thats not that it doesnt kick butt but id like to hear a meaner bite! for the shred guys! but for rock a billy and blues these pick ups are perfect! the middle switch is great for a sweeter tone combining the two pick ups!
you have way too many tonal options 1 master volume then two volumes for each pick up and one tone! its great!

Peerless People and company have been around since the 70's they arent falling off the planet as long as the standards they have stay stong! i believe in these guitars they are awesome and hold true to all the Semi hollow body tradition! dont take my word go find out for you trust me you will be pleasantly surprised!
